@UMPEE thanks! I just use this practice amp then eq and effect it in my pc software after the fact. i can't really hear my playing as I do it cuz only music is in headphones. no guitar at all except from the amp which is like a blanket over it in those phones.
@price1701a heheh yeah. I mean, you can easily get jealous when someone isn't as good but yet they're plastered all over the TV, radio, net, etc. But for me, it ain't a guitar thing. I just have always expected a lot from myself and so when I give a compliment it means I truly think someone did above average. thanks!
@price1701a Yeah, at least it seems that way when you look at stuff like american idol, america's got talent, radio, whatever. But there are tons of good musicians out there working at McDonalds and such. Heck, I'm jobless with little $ from some voice over I do. No idea where my life will head but it sucks right now.
Wow TS, that was awesome! I'd give anything to be able to play like that!
I, as I'm sure u did, grew up in the '60s and watched all the greats evolve...Hendrix, Joplin, Clapton, Grand Funk, Traffic, Canned Heat, Mothers of Invention, etc., etc.
One day I was listening to Blue Suede Shoes, the next it was the Beatles. The day after, I was listening to "I wanna hold your hand," the next day it was magical Mystery Tour.
Only those who lived thru the birth of Progressive Rock music would understand!
@Cootabux Thanks. Yeah, I'm 47 so my music was mostly late 60s and 70s and early 80s. Not so much those you listed but more mid 70s pop and late 70s rock.
I responded to your "war" comments so don't get too ticked off. Just defending my beliefs.
Nice tone too, BTW! I should pay you to come over and set-up some tones on my POD. My live tones are pretty good, but they could use some "Tim Tweekin'"
@ijitdunn i pressed way hard on my index finger playing guitar in a dive bar once and it just crushed some nerve I guess. Same thing for my thumbs and ring fingers and overuse (typing at work, typing at home, playing 3d shooters) made them go south and I couldn't touch anything for about 1.5 years. only now (10 years later) can I touch stuff and apply light pressure.
man, I gotta remember to set my vid editor to interpolate. I been filming using 60fps interlaced and you can see the jaggedness in the closeups. dang it.
@ozmoroid thanks. yeah, I was trying to keep it tasty without too much flash but then I did that really fast run at the end and thought man, that's hot. hehehhee So I kept it. I had big fun. Was up till 8am doing it. zzzzzzzzzz
@musicgeniusno1 People prob think I'm whining but it's just the truth. It's sad. hehe when I finished playing this a few times, my index and ring nails had grooves in them from sliding down the top 3 strings (which are wound and it just carves a groove in my nails so I have to basically not play for a day or two or just stay off the top 3 strings heheheh). thanks! But I'm in "heaven" when I'm playing guitar even with my stupid handicap.
@TruthSurge Sorry for your pain. Think of it this way, your nails are in the groove like you when you're playing hehe! ;) well done it on, always enjoy watching your skills.
@musicgeniusno1 hehehe yeah, when I say I'm in the groove, I MEAN it! hahahha thanks. I'd love to try writing some stuff again but don't have the equipment. No synth to make sounds with. Ah well. First things first. Gotta get steady $ somehow but with uncle sam broke he's going to be hitting everyone up for $ too so all I get is prob going to get raped away. well, not all. So, we'll see.
@SkepticsUniverse2 not too monotonous, I hope. HEHEHHEHE just clownin around. Thanks! Oh, I got a cassette of me and my band back in 1983-ish and man.... we were rough around the edges. We did Bark at the Moon and bang yer head and Rush and ZZ Topp and we are in this place with like 4 people in the audience and we end with this big downbeat on each song and... crickets.... hahaha But a few songs were actually good.
Wow. Thumbs up. I know some churches that'd kill for your guitar services during Praise &Worship. And, no, I wouldn't mind being your neighbor at all now. Let 'er rip!
@baltimark I liked his huge hit. hehehe DOH. Fantasy I think it was. Big loud Les Paul into a big loud amp. It was cool. Dude, I played guitar in church for several years. Then again in a church me and a few other friends FORMED. That was when I believed Jesus was a real person. I now believe he's a fictional character who never existed. If you want to keep talking as if you have a snowball's chance in hell of "converting" me, I'll keep saying no. But more briefly next time. :)
@baltimark My fingers? or me leaving Christianity? oh, prob only the latter. I read the Bible and realized it was completely contradictory and unreliable. as for fingers, I crushed the tips at various times and it's some kind of nerve damage where if I press they get messed up so I can't press on them. Sometimes I REALLY lightly press but I try to avoid it.
@TruthSurge So move on in God without the Bible. What's your mental block in that regard? Or soul-block maybe. I adhere to a Catholic theology that sets the Bible aside. So I get the Rose without any thorns. And without that move, I'd probably be where you are, albeit with musical talent and that nasty stinging injury.
@baltimark "What's your mental block in that regard? "
Can you decide to believe that 2 + 2 = 5? It's a question I want you to answer. It isn't rhetorical. I want you to answer it. Can YOU decide to believe that 2 + 2 = 5.
Answer THAT and we can proceed with answering your original question because I must ask this in order TO answer your question as to why I cannot believe in a god.
@TruthSurge Sure. I can believe that Reality is such that under certain circumstances 2+2=5. And so can theoretical physicists. Who knows for CERTAIN what is real? Do YOU define Reality? YOU say what it can and cannot be? Reality must answer to YOU. It must be as YOU say. Grow up! I'm not saying that those Bible stories are true. That's childish also. I'm saying humble your willful self enough to acknowledge the SPIRIT. THAT is what it's MATURELY all about.
You do. When you get sick, I doubt you'll ask yourself if that pain you feel is real or not. If you get sick enough, I doubt you'll question what reality is and instead, you'll get your ass to a doctor for REAL medicine that works because THEY didn't accept "what is real?" for some kind of answer. They figured out what was real and for the most part, things work. When they don't, it's just due to variables that were not known.
@TruthSurge You atheists conveniently define real in a way that's simultaneously practical and Absolute. So which is it? Can't be both. The merely practical isn't Absolute. Sorry. The merely practical is decided by YOU on a SUBJECTIVE basis. You have a CONSENSUS behind you? SO WHAT! NO consensus is Absolute. And not even THAT statement is Absolute! Only MYSTICS admit to how insubstantial Reality is. I gotta take atheists AND fundies back to the most elementary levels.
@baltimark None of what you say matters to me. It's all hot air. when will that sink in? If you want to learn real things, great. You want to play in your pretend world, I'm not interested.
@TruthSurge I reach this point with all atheists who hang in there with me, until now most notably with NoelPlum99. They show that their resistance to the SIMPLE intuition of God rests NOT on any intellectual integrity, but on sheer willful childish spite. I ain't gonna. Nuh-uh. And I was the same way. And so this goes for even the big Intellectual Establishment hacks out there, the major atheist philosophers whose unthinking slave you are. Amen?
@baltimark " I reach this point with all atheists "
I'm shocked!
I've given you every chance to make SOME case for your beliefs and you've provided precisely.... nothing. I am going to cut my losses now. I won't be responding to you anymore. Good luck with your dichotomized worldview. Must suck having to live in a real world outside of your mind where real things have real consequences. It's been... REAL! hahahaha
@baltimark yeah, I knew what you meant because I used my intelligence combined with a knowledge of the English language to conclude that you left out a crucial piece of reality. Oh wait. You don't like real things so why did you bother to correct it? How do you KNOW it was wrong to begin with? How do you know you're reading this right now? How do you know when you need to go piss? You deal with reality every minute of every day EXCEPT in your god playground. sad.
@TruthSurge Now, see, I figured you were incapable of making that deduction, so I better help you ... "out".
: )
Is getting emotionally carried away as you do part of being rational? I'd like in fact to be so holy that I've forgotten how to make a sandwich. But in the meantime I'm stuck being ordinarily practical. I'm stuck still having to think so to survive amid this illusion. And that's very regrettable.
@Mahoivlich yeah, I bought parts back in... like 1981 and put it together but today it has DiMarzio pickups (had EMGs for like 20 years) and only 1 volume knob cuz it just got in my way so I moved it to where the tone used to be. It's not a dream guitar. It's decent though and sounds really nice even through that $100 practice amp I used on all these live playing vids. I just add a bit of post processing when making the vid. some stereo effect and eq and reverb. thanks.
@TruthSurge i really like how the striping looks is it inlays, a multi wood sandwich or stained? Have you experimented with creating your own bodies? or done any air brushing custom jobs?
@Mahoivlich I've never airbrushed on a guitar or other instrument. That body is a DiMarzio body and the wood is layered like that. It's a heavy guitar. Solid rosewood neck. I'd love to be rich so I could build a new custom. :) It'd be a lot better than this one. LIght so I won't kill my back and a thinner neck and compound radius and maybe... short scale but if I detune to D it might be okay w/regular scale. But the brown guitar is cool.
@RayzerAtheistX2 heheh thanks! Yeah, the end solos were just totally ad libbed. I did a few takes then mashed up two different solos to get the best parts. First half is one then that fast stuff is another. I hadn't heard this tune in like 20 years and just wanted to learn it and play it. I sometimes wonder if people think I'm not playing song because I mix my guitar down to sound good but I think you should be able to see I'm really playing it.
@TruthSurge I'm also a guitarist and I can tell when someone is really playing and you were REALLY playing and by that I mean you rocked the shit out of it. lol
