The unusual phenomena that causes ocean waters in Southern California to glow neon blue at night is created by single-celled organisms called dinoflagellates. The organism forms algae blooms, or red tides, that emit electric blue light when disrupted. All it takes is the breaking of wave or a surfer paddling for the chemical reaction to happen.
@psychosavant Thats not overreaction, its a beautiful, fascinating thing that you don't see every day.
Perhaps something more synthetic would interest you? Maybe you should just go to the movies and watch an action film, with lots of explosions and car crashes. That sounds fucking boring to me though
How very condescending of you. I'm not saying that it wasn't very pretty. I'm not saying that the biochemistry behind it isn't very fascinating. I myself am pursuing a degree in molecular biology, so believe me, my appreciation for the natural universe and its wonders cannot be overstated (do you seriously believe I got to this video by looking up explosions and car crashes?)
But his reaction is still a bit much even if you ignore him calling it "the single greatest thing ever."
@psychosavant I don't know about you, but I'm glad to see that people can still get excited over nature. Do you really think that he meant that statement that it was the single greatest thing ever? Of course not. That exagerration just shows how excited he was about it. I would have been just as fascinated
Getting excited is one thing, but the level of excitement is what I would call an overreaction...
Are you actually asking me if I really believe his statement was literal or just him expressing himself, or are you just trying to be condescending again? Arguing this long over something so trivial only shows you're in it to prove you're better than someone. Just let it go. I wasn't berating the man. I just think his reaction is excessive and therefore funny.
only 7 BAYS LIKE THIS ONE exist in the entire world. What’s more, almost half of the world’s bioluminescent bays are in Puerto Rico! ,, THE TOWN OF LAJAS , VIEQUES,AND FAJARDO ,,
Tht was the luminous laggon...it is one of 7 natural wonders on earth...thy eat these certain leaves and the reason they light up like tht is because thy feel thretend...thy get there enrgy frm the sun to light up like tht...u cn see thm in jamaca, cuba, and the dominican republic
Some friends and myself go have bonfires pretty regularly, and sometimes I go down to the beach to watch a slightly weaker show of this along the whole shoreline at night, it's beautiful. Every time a wave breaks, mmmm, gorgeous.
Thanks for posting. I was looking to see if there were any cool posts from Vieques. I went kayaking there in the bio bay. One of the coolest experiences of my life. It was just me and my guide. When were leaving it started to rain....just imagine hundreds of little expanding cool blue rings. It was awesome! The whole day felt like I was in a fun Matrix moment...should I pick the Red or the Blue beach? Wild horses, diving pelicans, scooter ride, HIX house, BIo Bay best 24 hours by self EVER!
Had a rad experience tripping on Mescaline in the Marlborough Sounds while swimming in a small cove, freaken phosphorescent algae yo, blows your F*uckin mind.
@wolfpaw999 ahahahaha "james cameron has a point". I guess the point is that you can make a massive movie with a huge industrial complex that will make 100s of million of dollars while including a ridiculous message against massive industrial complex's that will appeal to stupid people like wolfpaw999 that won't think about how the movie was actually made.
@eyetheskies you really could do that if you had a cooling and heating system for the water and tried as hard as you could to simulate their environment. the problem is that the water has to be almost exactly 65 or 75 i can't remember cause i went on the tour a while ago. if you have the money and want to do it thencontact me on my channel for more info about them
