He is so tender and at the same time physically addictive. I want to feel his arms wrap. In this movie looks like a boy, but then you listen to him and there is pure poetry, and it is amazing! Elliott come in my dreams!
Elliott's made a huge impact on me, his music even though at times is in ways depressing, its made me feel better. My dad always talks about seeing him live at waterloo records in austin texas. i really wish i could of been him on that day..
Elliott's voice was so sweet.breathy, and harmonic.Nice to see him. Standing alone. The song was given so much vitality with the other vox, piano and keys. One of best musicians\ songwriters ever born. Really folks. He changed the world of music forever, myna
Learned this on piano - one of my favorite songs to play
Elliott is a genius, and his songs have changed many lives, helping people to cope and relate. A sort of cynical optimism, developed in often strange yet outstanding progressions and melodies ... That's how I would describe Elliott's music in only so many words... But If a picture says a thousand words, Each individual song of Elliott's would tell 1,000,000
If my math skills are correct it could be 5 people putting both thumbs up, 4 people putting both thumbs up and 2 people only putting one up, 3 people putting both thumbs up and 4 people only putting one up, 2 people putting both thumbs up and 6 people only putting one up, 1 person putting both thumbs up and 8 people only putting one up or 10 people putting only one thumb up.
And they are probably putting their thumbs up because this song KICKS ASS.
kind of appropriate for the song though don't you think? The only thing I don't like about the live Elliott Smith is that he can't do his own backup vocals.

I think that Elliott Smith was on heroin during the writing and recording of Figure 8. The songs on that record, to me, sound a lot more uplifting than the material on it's predecessor: XO. Or maybe because he'd achieved a certain amount of recognition and success he could afford to use without worrying about withdrawel. Just floating on a cloud in his own brilliant universe of thought. And I suppose From A Basement On The Hill was the wretched hangover from that.
Haha, Elliott looks so out of place without his guitar, trying to figure out where to place his hands. It's great. Then he takes a little break to get some attention off him (since he wasn't doing anything for a while). I miss him so...wish I could have seen him live at least once.
I'd have to agree. The way he just decided to sit down in the middle of the song was priceless. And I loved that at the end of the song he was just so relieved to get his guitar back. This video is great.
I only wish that I could've discovered him when he was still alive. :/
i love his little stance up on stage...and then he grabs a drink of water and sits politely until it's his time to sing again. absolutely adorable. i wish he was still here

I agree with the older comments that it'd be even more amazing if he could've been his own back-up singer(s).

On the album ( Figure 8) track, he used the same Abbey Road studio piano that Paul McCartney had played on "Penny Lane". He must have loved that.

It's not that. It's just that was kind of his thing. If his backup singer were better I could probably enjoy it more though.

@BeccaHonk indeed without his guitar or piano, he really should have been playing the piano part on here.
