was this game made by the same company that did space megaforce (super aleste) for snes? the game looks a lot like SM cuz of the power-up system, the bombs, the scatter shot weapon and the way the power-up stays on screen when they reach the bottom.

used to have this game on emu, gotta find it again...

Yes, this and Space Megaforce are by the same company (Compile), and is part of the "Aleste" series. Gun Nac is a parody of the Aleste games, that's why it has a humurous appearance

Very nice. One thing you gotta know about Compile. They managed to throw an assload of sprites on screen with complicated movements with barely any slowdown.
