this man should be celebrated nationwide,he should have his face on stamps,i beleive he was on the cusp of a creative second wind when we tragicly lost him
(Personally) I can't STAND IT when a Rock star dies (like Joe here or like when Lux Interior died) and people write R.I.P.These guys were F'n ROCKERS!Do you'll really think they are going to Rest In Peace?(myself I like to make up something that pertaines to the person but still use the R.I.P.letters) For Joe mine is "REBEL IN POETRY" Just like Joe did.(for Lux it was) RUMBLE INFILTRATE POISION (like The Cramps did with their music)
I think he is covering the Dandy Livingstone version of the song, with a bit of a twist. From what I've heard The Specials were a big fan of the original but misheard the lyrics and decided to record the song with the lyrics they originally thought Livingstone was singing
who cares if its too slow...i fuckin miss this man like he's family or a friend as im sure so many do...i saw him once at hootenanny in irvine,cali..best time ever...had to sit through rockabilly bullshit for HOURS,but it was well worth it
I saw Joe Strummer live early 80's one of the best shows ever. Also Lynval Golding of the Specials. Thank you, imho this is one of the best vidios I have seen one youtube!
Wow, blast from the past or what? I went to this very gig and bumped into Joe afterwards. I was 10 years old and will never ever forget it :) Joe's been my hero all my life Love him may your beautiful soul rest in peace and your beautiful music live on forever. Joe Strummer we salute you.
Great video. Two of my favorites, combined! Thank you, poster. Joe, damn why'd you have to go so soon?

I don' t like when a singer doesn' t sing the proper lyrics - and mind you, I' m a major Strummer fan.
This really is a horrible version of a fantastic song (I' m a Specials fan too).

Correct giantplanet! Tymon Dogg joinded The Mescaleros in 2000.
I'm not 100% sure, but the "probable" lineup was thus:
Joe Strummer, Martin Slattery, Scott Shields, Simon Stafford, Tymon Dogg, and Luke Bullen.
