  • Even if the milk is pasteurized or not it doesn't make a difference, its the vitamin D that helps your body absorb calcium, it is produced in your body by being in sunlight. In fact the hype is all true and very much factual.

    Calcium in milk is not absorbed because it's pasteurized/heated, which kills the enzyme that transports calcium. Yes, all that advertising hype about milk being good for your bones is false.

    Coral calcium is calcium carbonate, basically it's a rock and it's poorly absorbed. Coral near Okinawa has lead and mercury in it. Plus reefs are destroyed to get it.

    Calcium and magnesium work together so you must get both. Calcium citrate is well absorbed.

  • That's great advice! Get calcium from cows that get it from the source; the ground. Dairy is fine for topping off a cup of Starbucks coffee, but understanding that calcium is a mineral and NOT produced by cows, is a great start.

  • It's interesting that in Japan the recommended amount of calcium per day is 400mg and in the USA it's 1000mg. The dairy industry is 10 times more important in the USA as compared to Japan - go figure.

  • milk causes cancer and it is bad for you in other ways too, not to mention the cows are treated horribly unless you buy free rang . its only "good for you" because it has a big industry behind it. i saw an old newspaper with an ad that said "Milk Cures the Common Cold!"

  • this is absurd. vegans most definitely are not at higher risk of deficiency! the problem is most likely that the vegans who need to see "health professionals" are the ones with the deficiencies! i think the problem with our society i general is that everyone wants to get all the nutrients they need in one thing, like milk so then they can eat crap.healthy vegans r very wel nourished because they eat properly all day. you dont need a rich source of anything, just PLENTY of great nutritious food.

  • calcium, it does a body good, but not cows milk. scientists know since 1999 that its causing osteoporosis, but they wont tell you that cause all those dairy companies make lots of money. cows milk is too fat for humans and it has cholesterol. its for baby cows, not for humans.

    many are lactose intolerant, native americans, africans, asians, there is no cheese in traditional chinese cuisine. if they cant drink cows milk, how do they get calcium? see, eating seeds and veggies is enough.

  • This is very ill informed. Dairy products are acidic to your body and actually leech the calcium from your bones. There are MANY more vegan sources of calcium than this video lets on, beans, kale, etc etc. Even chocolate almond milk, yum.

    If you seriously don't get enough calcium from your vegan diet, you can get a vegan supplement, easy as cruelty-free pie. :)

  • yea i had hypercalcimia once cause i had too much calcium in the blood..but nothing was wrong with me then i had to take in less calcium..thats before i loves milk and cheese,pasta cheese i ate too much stuff with calcium...so i had to cut down on it...i was kinda scared but am good now

    But this phobia about never getting enough calcium while US has one of the highest bone disease rates while one of the biggest avg calcium intake shows that milk isn't the answer. Milk acidifies the gut and leeches calcium from bones and teeth to remineralize the gut. It's not how much calcium u take in, its how much u take out by consuming dairy.

    if I have a common cold, I can drink lots of exotic tea's and I will be okay after a week. but that doesnt means that tea will heal your cold. cold is caused by a virus and the body will heal itself with tea or no tea.

    native americans cant drink cows milk, many asians and africans are the same. how on earth can they get calcium?

  • i have met few vegans who are deprived of calcium due to the ammount of yummy calcium-rich vegetables out there we all gorge on! it's a common misconception that the dairy industry supports and encourages.

    reading the side of my soya milk carton, it contains substantially more calcium than cows milk!

When my father was in the hospital for cancer, they commented how strong his bones and teeth were. I can only speak for myself, but I like my body's main structure to be strong. I'm 19 and have never broken a bone, but have suffered severe strains and sprains. How do you like them apples?

    Osteoperosis is caused by too much animal protein. The protein causes the blood to be acidic and the only way to stop it is to sap the calcium from your bones. Most people get too much protein from dairy, since all of it has protein and dairy is in practically everything dumbnuts. You should research more.

  • BS. Osteoperosis is caused by the weakening of the bones, which milk prevents, so milk cannot cause that. And since you say that soda is healthier than milk, and milk is healthy, then you probably want to drink lots of it to keep up your no doubt wonderful physique. And I don't care how much you drink. And I know that calcium comes from other sources. I am just debating the fact that you said milk is bad, that's it.

    Milk does not have helpful bacteria in it for us at all. Back about 2000 years ago cows produced about one quart of milk a day. What did they do to compensate?

  • You really dont know anything. If you would go to the site I posted before it would have evidence of milk actually CAUSING asthma and allergies. And when I mentioned milk getting bad, I was pointing out its FORM, NOT the fact that it gets bad.

    What happens if you were to fill up a bowl with grease and leave it there for a number of hours? It hardens!

  • People are too scared to even consider the fact they might be wrong. You have no evidence what-so-ever about the fact milk is good for you except hearsay. The site I posted here gives you hundreds of articles about how milk trashes your body, and it gives references towards these findings.

    I used to drink milk and eat dairy when I was younger a lot. I used to have asthma, I had an inhaler. After I cut my dairy consumption by more than half, my asthma seemed to go away.

  • For about 7 years I haven't had a single sign of asthma since. By the way, I didn't stop consuming dairy at the time because I thought it was bad. I just stopped.

    You should also know I have never drunk raw milk in my life, so thats out the window.

    And just so you know, there are harmful bacteria in raw milk as well. Quit being such a sucker.

    A lot of people use this argument: "I have been drinking milk for years, and so has my grandfather/grandmother, were fine!"

  • My wife is 91, owned a dairy farm for 55yrs. She has numerous bone problems. Osteoporosis, fallen arches, very crooked fingers. The milk she drank was w/o homogenation and pasteurization. She had a garden and grew all of her food including the beef her family ate. I personally think getting calcium from plants would be better than dairy.

  • Vegan is ok, studies show though, that there is a very high rate of osteo amongst people who eat a raw food diet as a full time lifestyle.

    I'm not anti-raw. I think that having a couple of days a week full raw is good for you. But there ARE nutrients in food that can not be digested raw. They are passed out untouched by because they are encapsulated by the celulose.

  • ur almost right about that. because it wasnt natural for humans to drink milk from other animals, humans used to have problems digesting animal milk. but now we have the enzymes in our bodies to drink it, so its alright. in countries where they never had cows or goats for milk, the people there never developed the ability to digest it and STILL cant drink milk from animals, they get sick when they do. hope that clarifies it for u.
