  • Pay no mind to the people who have issues with the sound. The point is that this is rare footage and even if not the best sound I would still want to see it.

  • If I'm not mistaken Scott Boyer plays today in a killer band out of Muscle Shoals Alabama called the Decoys. They have been playing together for a while and are great! The band is made up of some of those great pro Muscle Shoals Muscians , such as the great David Hood on bass, who played on every bodies records in the sixties and seventies. They are a killer band.Scott is the lead singer and plays guitar too. 12-18-2011

  • This has been my favorite song of Gregg's for many years. Never dreamed one day I'd have a car that I could permanently load the song into. I still play Laid Back in my car all the time. But I recently heard this song was written for Cher. :-( Blehhh. Not sure that was something I wanted to know.

  • Gregg's voice is just as strong and beautiful as ever..saw him a few summers back...he's the best...after Ina Gillian he is my favorite vocalist.

  • Would somebody download this from the studio album. It was a great effort but the distortion doesn't do the song justice!

  • Gary Moore "BAFOU" A MELODIA DE GREGG ALLMAN pra fazer still got the blues!!!!

  • QUIT IT..just because you have a video camera doesn't mean you have to use it!

    That sounds terrible.

  • Love this.... Gregg you Rock Brother!..Southern Soul Man Supreme!

    Great Songwrting!

  • I could totally live in this moment. Gregg Allman is the one of the greatest songwriters of all times. Sing on my brother Allman. love you!

  • That's Tommy Talton on the sweet lead guitar!!

  • wtf thinks they have right to saY nonsesne? because u remaine nameles/ ............keep your bad vibes.

only fools crirtsize true talent .

  • One on my favorite song, my friend Tommy Talton on lead guitar, great !!!

  • HOW is it that Gregg Allman in a backwoods, redneck, Southern city, gets more years, and video hits than a Savvy, Afro-Intelligent, Multi Talented STAR like Kanye West, from New York City???? I am so stupid, I cant answer that question, that I just axed. Vote Confederate in 2012

  • @30millioncrabs The fact that you "axed" it says that you should keep your opinions to yourself until you learn to speak!!! "Roll Tide"!!!!!

  • @30millioncrabs

Mainly because the Allman brothers themselves got hooked on the blues at a young age--I read in this really good book called DIXIE MELODY a few years back---it was about white southern rock and blues, and the divide between white and black rock in the late '60's---basically how rock 'n roll became considered only something white folks could play--basically, Gregg and his bros saw BB King playing one night and decided right then and there that they wanted to play the blues.

  • I don't think Greggs songwriting is "under rated"...by any true fans. He is an awesome songwriter. I am glad to see this video but it sure would be nice if somebody could post a live perfomance of this with much better sound. Trying to get my favorite songs/videos downloaded to my PSP! (replay media catcher- makes it easy).

  • Another example of Gregg Allman's underrated songwriting ability and range. Awesome tune.

  • Great song. I wore my Laid Back album out listening to this song. Quarter on the tone arm didn't help, either. I went to college in Greenville, NC and there was a band there that nailed Queen of Hearts....name of the band was Home Cookin'. Damn I miss those days.

  • oh man acidently gave your comment a thumbs down

i meant to give it a thumbs up

wore my copy out too but i used a dime

maybe mine lasted a bit longer thsn yours

    agree re queen of hearts

one of the best songs i ve ever heard

the sax solo is absolutely unmatched

    imo

and sorry again for the mishit on the thumbs up

  • ditto on wearing out this track....would come home at lunch time from work in New Orleans just to hear it over n over!

  • why did you cut it right at the jam? HUH? then i went to #2 and you did the same thing, wtf.

  • As good as it gets!

  • Beautifully laid back...nothing like this era. Grew up loving Gregg and this LP.

  • My favorite Gregg Allman song---maybe. Has David "Fathead" Newman playing the sax solo on the original recording. He was star soloist for the Ray Charles Orchestra from 1956 to 1964. Amazingly intricate harmonies and chord changes. Check Gregg out-he's always had it goin' on!

  • @impala327

Heard this some years ago on a public radio show called "Cypress Avenue" on WDET in Detroit--the host was spotlighting Greg Allman as part of his show---even though I've only heard this song once, it stuck in my mind cause I've always liked the blues and blues-influenced songs. Now I hear why I've remembered it to begin with.

The guitarist on the original version is the great Buzz Feiten . Tommy stays quite close to the parts Buzz played .

  • @HDMAN100 nice job!

  • This is just such a gorgeous song.

  • Buzz Feiten ( guitarist on original Q of H ) has a new album just out ( in Japan so far ) with Brandon Fields guesting . Its absolutely wonderful .. • But that's where they play all the best music . . . don't ya know?

  • Scott Boyer is in this video...

  • Scott Boyer,.tommy Talton,...Cowboy??

    What happened to Scott Boyer?

  • He had some medical problems related to his vascular system and had to have some pretty heavy surgery to correct the problem, but did not have insurance to pay for it. His friend, Dick Cooper, organized two benefit concerts, one in Muscle Shoals and one in Bhm, to pay for it. Scott has recovered pretty well and the medical bills were taken care of.

  • Thank you very much. I would love for someone to post some Cowboy albums and songs....

    On Carpricorn records....

  • what year was this recorded?

  • This benefit concert was in April of last year; Queen of Hearts was recorded in late 1972 and was released on Gregg's first solo album, Laid Back, in '73. Many of the musicians on the stage for this concert played on the record's sessions.

  • Tommy, I know you were on the record and nothing is lost betweem then and now. I was your replacement in WTP. Don't ever stop playin'. I won't. Skip Skinner

  • Um, this song was written for Janice Allman..it's on the "Greg Allman Laid Back" album way before cher..

  • The original version of this song on the Gregg Allman, "Laid Back" album has an amazing piano and tenor sax solo.(Chuck Leavell/piano,David"Fathead" Newman/sax)

  • This song was written for his wife Janice (whom he was married to before Cher). She is the sister of Ron Blair, bassist for Tom Petty.

  • WHAT??!! this song was out many years before the 'cher' phase.

  • I love this song. Written for/about Cher. Thanks for posting this video. I wonder what Gregg thinks of this song and all its meaning. Hello, Gregg you there??
