Just another marketing tactic.....some people actually believe its real...its amazing how adveritsers can con a whole breed of fat cheesy Walmart Shopping dirtbags feeding their never satisfied pieholes....yuck
@ToiletBomberAlpha Yeah I was a junior in high school when it came out. I was pissed at Coca Cola for doing that.Glad they gave people back Coke Classic.Wished they hadnt switched from cane sugar to High fructose corn syrup as their sweetener. New Coke was basically Pepsi.
i like how way back then they thought in the future technology would be faulty, twitchy, an wouldnt work correctly durin mid-use, because twenty years later they couldnt be more right.
The real image of Max was not computer generated. Computing technology in the mid-1980s was not sufficiently advanced for a full-motion, voice-synced human head to be practical for a television series. Max's image was actually that of actor Matt Frewer in latex and foam prosthetic makeup with a fiberglass suit created by Peter Mackenzie Litten and John Humphreys of Coast to Coast Productions in the UK. This was then superimposed over a moving geometric background.
CGI existed, it just wasn't as big as it is now. Remember this was around the same time as the "Money for Nothing" video, which was majority CGI save for the actual parts with Dire Straits.
@FSinWCR it began in the late 80's when they were messing around with wire frame models on the computers the acual term CGI wasnt even coined until the late 90's
the pixelation on 'free' digital tv is worse that the glitches on Max Headroom . . . give me back analog

When CGI was in its infancy.
jessicana77 2 years ago
no, not even, CGI didnt exist then, they filmed a real person in a rubber mask, behind a "green screen" which they just filled with graphics

@rad4life1 Actually CGI did exist back then, but yeah they didn't use it here. If you remember Dire Straights video from that time period used CGI.

@rad4life1 Its amazing how close it came to the concept of CGI.
