It's incredible how the time's authorities were as arrogant as they were stupid and unaware, normal people must have always known that talking things over is helpful to clear one's mind and that continuous abuse leads to unease that can degenerate terribly, most people experience this on a regular basis... Perhaps even more depressing the ruthless way in which women's roles were constrained so tightly that they would explode.
We need more thinkers like Freud. He was the first of a new breed of thinkers. His thinking was outrageous. Just because he thought differently on some things I 'Think' that we, as people of the 21century can realize that this man, was a very inquisitive thinker.
