  • Next time tell your customer you would be willing to buy back the dummy cakes. I have always suggested this to my customers and they all have taken me up on the offer. Most of the time the customer do not want to save the dummy cakes as they have no place to put it and they can "draw" ants. Doesn't hurt to offer as all they can do is say "no".

  • Love your cake, i always wanna try something like this. But i'm afraid i would kill it on my way to the party. May i ask how you usually transfer the cake? I mean..i'm afraid to just put it in a box and drive around with it.

  • What a stylish cake!

  • Your cake is beautiful. I made something similar using delphinium blue color for the cake and beige for the concentric circles. If you don't mind I'd like to use your design for the mini cakes I will be making for my husband's 50th birthday. Thank you for the inspiration.

  • 4 hours for the circles.... You should just get cookie cutters next time around.

  • how do you stack it like the layers of cake can you just put one on top of the other or stick something in the iddle of the cake does it tip easy?

  • BEAUTIFUL...GREAT COLORS!!!!

  • I live in a small town and all we have is a wal-mart and a homeland, neither carry fondant. Is there a website I could get it off?

  • @loveJemi4ever

why don't you make the fondant yourself?

  • again this video never showed the actual making of the cake, not helpful at all

  • hello, would it be imprudent to ask how much this particular cake sold for?

  • OMG thank you for mentioning how to get the powdered sugar off with the crisco! I just started about 2 months ago, and I was using a tiny paint brush and water, paper towels, dry brushing...nothing got it all and nothing was that shiny and pretty! Thanks!

  • I love the nice nice work.. Very detailed and professional.

  • Absolutely beautiful!! I'm ganna have to steal this design!!

  • beautiful!

  • I have a question, I am making a Fondant Cake tomorrow (monday) for my husands birthday on tuesday. I was wondering will the Fondant Cake stay good till I serve it on tuesday? And if so where do I store it. I was just worried, I didnt want this cake to fall apart or be hard. Another question, whats the best way to keep the decorations in place on the cake without falling off? Thank you :)

  • Very very nice work. Congratulations !!!!!

  • that's a great idea, using fake tiers especially when you don't need that much cake. Do they sell foam in the shape of circle cakes at Michaels?

  • How do you store the two top tears with the foam?? whats piping gel

  • @MrsHighballer99 Google 'piping gel' and look at one of the first images that shows up. You can buy a tub of it in the baking section of your local Michael's/craft store.

  • How do you store the two top tears with the foam??

  • this is hillarious! today i attempted to make a fondant cake and i make gum balls with marshmellows! sob haha total failure...my friend came over to make it with me and we couldnt stop laughing at ourselves. my microwave is glued shut...lol

  • This is a beautiful cake...You now have a new fan! I haven't yet used fondant for my cakes, but after seeing a few of your videos, I'm now willing to give it a try...God Bless and keep the inspiration coming! You do great work!

  • How many does the 10 inch feed? Im making a cake for my daughter's 8th birthday and I dont think I'll have more than 20-25 people. The foam is a great idea and I think I may try it! Thanks :) ps.- she likes a combo of your fondant cake # 15 and your 8th. :) I love your cakes!!

  • lovely

  • I LOVE THIS ONE! How far in advance do you bake your cakes? I'm making my 1st real fondant (1st one I attempted without reading up on it first, fondant all cracked) cake next week for Saturday.

Am I save to bake it on Wednesday, dirty ice it and then decorate Thursday and Friday. My filling is going to be chocolate ganche, so I keep in the fridge.

Basically how far ahead do you bake your cakes. Thanks!

  • Where is McCalls we don't have a local supplier in my area, do you have a website for them?

  • Well done! I love it!

  • do you mind posting how much this cake sold for?

  • @AltarEcho I was wondering how much it sold for.

  • I want to make a New years Cake and put 2010 on the top like you did with the dots and wire. Did you add tylose to those to make them stiffer to stand up and not flop over?

  • whats chrisco? Is that like some kind of oil?

  • It's vegetable shortning!

  • Hello,

Thank you for the insperation. I just recently started to make my first fondant cake. My question is , how exactly do you take the confection sugar off of your chocolate fondant cake? you said crisco and paper towel. Can you do a tutorial on that. Thanks in advance.. You are great!

  • Hi there,

U just add some crisco to your paper towel and then very gently wipe down the cake...also, u can use a brush to brush it down...it also works.

  • thanks!

  • It looks really cool! :))

  • how do you know how to price your cakes?

  • it's very tp price cakes, it depends on ALOOOTTT of factors. Over time, I just cake up with a system based on how much they go for inthe area, ur level of talent and what products u offer. I don;t like to use cheap fondant so I always have to take that into consideration when pricing a cake.

  • @criscake y do u write like dis?

  • I am new to all this and so far have made my third fondant cake! I do want to go further on multiple tiers but am wanting to stay away from baking cakes so much while practicing. Any recommendations on sites to help me learn more about covering foam cakes for practice and show? Thanks!

  • Covering foam cakes is easy, just brush on some piping gel and lay the fondant right on top!

  • How do you color the fondant

  • with gel or dry food coloring

  • awesome

  • This is so beautiful! The best cake ever!

  • what kind of fondant do you use? wiltons is nasty, home made is not the right texture... i am frustrated because I am really good with butter cream but fondant is on another level. I need help.

    Thanks

  • Have you tried Marshmallow fondant, 2 pounds of powdered sugar and 1 pound of marshmallows. Melt the marshmallows in the microwave at 30 second intervals with abotu 5 tablespoons of water (I actually add flavoring rather than water) and cover your hands and work surface with Crisco and mix together, I love thsi stuff and it is way cheaper than buying it

  • Do you have to put it away for 48 hours before use it?

  • hey u mentioned u r good at buttercream...

can u share ur buttercream recipe ;-)

  • 2 cups crisco

    1/2 cup real butter (unsalted)

    1 cup water

    2 tsps salt

    2 tsps vanilla

    1 tsp almond flavoring

    2 lbs powdered sugar

this is for icing the cake only, if you want crusting icing or to make decorations(flowers, etc) leave out the butter.

sift the drys together, cream the others and slowly add the dry to the creamed mixture. use the milk or water as needed so get the desired consistancy too dry add more water, too wet add more sugar.

    I hope this helps!

  • use Regal Ice

  • ahaah thanks..!!

  • I've done 2 fondant cakes and the fondant fell of the cake... am I supposed to put it in the fridge? Why is this happening???? I'm using fondant ready to use... please help me I need to make the cake for my son pretty soon!! Thanks!

  • i always crumcoat the cake in buttercream and then i chill it for a few hours. I then mist the cake with water before applying the fondant.....

  • Lovely cake! I think I will try this with pink and brown.....

  • friggin awesome. i'm baking a cake for my friend's sixteenth and i've already thought out the design for the top, but i was wondering how to cover the sides in a classy way. this is perfect because i bet you could arrange the circles in a way that might cover up any little accident folds in the bottom layer of fondant.

  • I'm from Denmark and still doesn't know what Crisco/shortening/Trex is...Is it a mix of butter and oil? Really hope you can help. Love the cake, so want to do one myself! Thank you for sharing.

  • Crisco is basically just soybean oil or cottonseed oil that hasn't been warmed up.

  • ohhh i forgot! where whould i buy the foam?

  • U can get them at any CAKE SHOP!

  • this is so amazing!!

  • I love your cakes--I've been browsing around on YouTube recently, looking for fondant tips, and this helped quite a bit. The green and brown threw me for a loop at first, but at the end of the video, I discovered that I actually quite liked it. This will help in my cake experiments--thanks!

  • hey! I'm from the uk and just wondering what Crisco actually is? I've heard people say it's 'shortening' but again, don't know what that is either....can someone please help me? Is it like just grease or butter or something? :S

  • Crisco is a brand of shortening...

  • ..I don't know what shortening is either..sorry to be annoying lol. ???

  • Shortening is similar to Trex in the UK.

  • OMG THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! you're a life saver!! =]

Crisi - i love your work, it's all amazing!! =]

  • Can I ask how you transport your cakes? I'm making for first "paid for" cake and it's a three tier too and I am unsure of how exactly to transport it!!

  • You're totally Canadian, I love your accent.

  • wow!! LOVE IT!! great job!

  • simply perfect!!!

    Congrats!!

  • From my local supplier called Mccalls.

  • how do you price your cakes?

  • Hey! Great cake! I haven't really started making cakes, but I really am getting inspired by watching all the youtube videos. What can you add for making the fondant harder? Hope you get to reply. Thanks!

  • The fondant i use is hard on its own...but I hear that if u have soft fondant, just to knead in some confectioners sugar.

  • I love this cake!! Did the foam come shape like that or did you have to shape it? Did u put anything over the foam before you apply the fondant?

  • I paste the foam with pipping gel before i apply the fondant!

  • Hi there, How much would you charge for a cake like that? It is beautiful.

  • Very Nice! Did you make or buy your Fondant? If you bought it was it already chocolate or did you color it? Also what size pans did you use. Thanks

  • hey what's the prices for a cake like this

  • WOW!! I love this cake! u did an awesome job!

  • Hey Christina,

The cake is AMAZING!!!! I love the design.

I would love for you to do a tutorial on your stacking method along with a tutorial or instructions on decorating foam as you did with this cake. It is a great idea but I can't seem to find anyone else that has done it. Once again you do great work and you're excellent at explaining the steps you take. Thanks for keeping us all up to date with your projects.

  • Hi there, I would love to do more tutorials, maybe in the new yr. Unfortunately with the holidays, there isnt that much free time...but I will defenately keep that in mind!

  • Hi, Cristina! Wow! I think that this cake was pretty big, but maby the cake has to be for many people. Anyway, I like the idea and the circles around each inch of the cake. And the colours fits together. The thing on top looks great, too. And, I hope that, when this cake is going to be eaten, is going to be a great day. Byebye, / Lisen99.

  • Neat and stylish finish!

  • Awesome cake. I love it. You did the wonderful job.

  • Lovely!! great color combo. aren't circles FUN??? don't you wanna cut out circles for EVER????? can you tell I've also done circles?????? ::dies::

  • Love it! Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

  • WOW your cake is amazing and because of the shiny chocolate fondant it also looks delicious!

  • They are gorgeous as always your cake looks so beautiful all the time. I have question to ask what kind of cake you use for that height. Because I am so afraid that my cake might fall in the middle even I used dowel rod. I tend to use heavy cake like banana or carrot cake. I want to try other cake like chiffon or sponge cake but I am afraid. Please let me know. THANKS!

  • Wow, I love your border and all your circles. What kind of choclate fondant did you use Satin Ice or Homemade it looks perfect as usual you have incredible edible visions!

  • flawless as usual !!! i also love the graphic design on the cake. others may think this is 'easy' but oh no, these circles will wear your arm off-- and the trick to make it look random takes a bunch of talent too! great job on another masterpiece !

  • Hi Chris,

Great cake - the chocolate and green colours are a good choice. It looks masculine, but it's still bright and colourful. Nice job!!

  • amazing! i love it! i will definatley try your little trick of shining the fondant, i never thought of that!!
