Joel osteen says both words... repent, and sin at the end of every program!!! why does ppl say he never mentions it? I've seen several hellfire preachers that don't use those two words EVERY sermon.. but joel does. "I never like to close our broadcast without giving you an opportunity to make Jesus the lord of your life. Just say, lord jesus i REPENT of my SIN, come into my heart, be my lord and savior...."

While I think there is indeed a significant number of "haters" who are religious churchy types that simply don't like him because he's not doing things there way, my observations would be somewhat different to those "niggas."
I think that while Joel is indeed engaging, his teaching is very 'lite' and utterly lacking in the serious 'meat' of the Bible. In effect he teaches a kind of great tasting 'McChristianity' which as yummy as that might be, can't be considered a serious or healthy diet.

I promise, I won't slam Joel. We should never judge his destiny. Judging his words against Scripture, however is a different story. It's not a slam to speak the truth. Joel says "Jesus is the only way for me. It's not my place to say Jesus is the only way for muslims."

I am a very hard worker & harvester. My harvesting is harder & harder when preachers like Joel prey on people who do not know the true Gospel. When preachers like Joel set the television veiwing public against the true Gospel, it's harder to lead a soul away from hell. Yes, I'm complaining. Every Sunday, he puts all sorts of road blocks in the way to confuse earnest, honest seekers of truth. That is my complaint. Again, a person's character can sometimes be partially determined by those who laud him/her. In this case, his character, scholarship, and theology are all in great question.

A lot of his teaching is from the bible, principles, ethics, morals, values, and charaters. I could go on, but if you want the excerpts, we can open the bible up. He may not literally read line by line from the bible, but his principals comes from the BIBLE itself. He's putting it in everyday life and terms. GEESH! It is too hard to see.
It's good to make fun of guys who are serious about God too surely? By that I mean it's pretty sad if you can't make a friendly joke with someone from time to time. Heck, my friends constantly take off some of the expressions I use and I still love'em :-)
I am making fun of him. Fortunately, like a great many people, he has a sense of humor. If I was to call him an asshole or something like that then that would be cruel, but a little fun is harmless though I've discovered that many of his followers appear to have defective sense of humors which is very sad for them.

One thing we have to remember Joel Osteen's father died unexpectedly it was his church and because it was a family owned BUSINESS someone in the family had to take over. Joel Osteen was selected. He was not qualified at the time to take over this church. His mother should have taken over the church.

I am wide awake, I know the Bible extremely well (in fact, I am a Bible scholar), I am in a right relationship with Yahweh, and I am blessed. Yahweh wants us to be healthy and wealthy as well. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Solomon, David, and many others were wealthy. What Bible have you NOT been reading? Why did Jesus and his apostles even have a treasurer? They obviously had money and more than 30 pieces of silver! You need to read and study and search more and pray for more wisdom.

God calls all people and uses them for different reasons. If it gets people into church and helps them from what afflictions beset them.....then what's so wrong about that? I'm Catholic and like listening to Joel and his message. If this many people are agaist him, then he must be doing the right thing. Backwards thinking, maybe, but how often is something good so roundly rejected?

Think about truth, dear religious zealots, like this: Truth is a diamond, and someone throws it to the pavement and it shatters into thousands of pieces...many people pick up a piece and each one shouts out: I have the truth....and that phrase is repeated over and over...with each one stating that he/she has the truth, but each has only a fragment of the truth.
this is the most nonsensical analogy you could make. first of all pavement won't break a diamond. secondly, in order for partial truths to be of a whole truth, all of those pieces must fit together without conflict. if they don't fit together, they can't make a whole truth. therefore, all the different religions of the world cannot be of the same truth, because they all conflict. just because your analogy sounds all philosophical, it doesn't make it true. think harder next time.

Like he said to Larry only God can judge ones heart, not Joel. Joel is only doing Gods work and it's not up to him whether people go to hell or heaven. Whether one goes to hell or heaven is up to them and God. Being human, do we know when we're going to die? The answer is no! Only God knows when we are going to die. So, therefore you can't say that Joel as a pastor should know whether people are going to hell or heaven, let God do that.

People are doing the exact same thing to Joel as they did to Jesus, having to prove himself to people. Joel doesn't have to prove nothing to you, and if you don'tlike his sermon then you know what? There are plenty of non-believers in this world. There are many people following differnt religions and belief systems that include leading a good life but don't include Christ - I'm not sure a buddist who has live an entire life of purity is going to be "denied access" into the pearly gates of Heaven by Jesus because they've "never been introduced to Jesus" through no "fault" of their own. God is a good God.
I totally agree with you, It seems like people are so quick to judge others and hope for them to fail. For me personally I feel that if anyone don't like the way Joel preeches, then don't listen to him.
I personally met Joel Osteen and Victoria at a last fall. The line to meet him was atleast a mile long & this man and his wife went outside to the end of the line and personally, graciously and humbly took time to shake each person's hand with both hands. Joel was so humble, thoughful & kind so It seriously get's me nauseaous when people are unfairly attacking him, regardless of disagreeing with his teaching. He's helping many people and there should be atleast some level of respect toward him.
How wonderful! I bet he is very genuine, caring, and loving. I know, can you believe people are trying to bring him down, almost as if they want him to fail. All I have to say is that he's the reason why I gave my whole entire life to God and Christ. I know he will be bless to continue reaching the billions of souls out there that are hunger for Christ's love and he will prevail all the negatives. If people don't like his teaching then perhaps they have a choice not to listen, and stop hating.

I understand that Christ is the way, I never said Olsteen was the way. I believe that God uses Joel to reach others to come and accept God. I love my God and my Lord Jesus Christ, but to say people are going to hell is not my calling as a Christian. If none Christian was to just automatically go to hell then, what about the Catholics, the budhist, and many others? I think only time wil tell, and it's not up to us to say or determine anything.
Joel Osteen is an awesome guy, I feel sorry for those who cant understand him. Truly God has used him to touch thousands of people's life and still God is using him. Go listen to his testimony of how God changed his life and your life will be changed too.

To be clear, I wasn't being disrespectful to Joel. I think he's a great feel good preacher. I'd take him over a Jerry Falwell any day of the week. Personally I am not entirely convinced there is much 'meat on the bones' of his teaching. But if works for some people then that's just fine with me.
Joel osteen says both words... repent, and sin at the end of every program!!! why does ppl say he never mentions it? I've seen several hellfire preachers that don't use those two words EVERY sermon.. but joel does. "I never like to close our broadcast without giving you an opportunity to make Jesus the lord of your life. Just say, lord jesus i REPENT of my SIN, come into my heart, be my lord and savior...."

While I think there is indeed a significant number of "haters" who are religious churchy types that simply don't like him because he's not doing things there way, my observations would be somewhat different to those "niggas."
I think that while Joel is indeed engaging, his teaching is very 'lite' and utterly lacking in the serious 'meat' of the Bible. In effect he teaches a kind of great tasting 'McChristianity' which as yummy as that might be, can't be considered a serious or healthy diet.

I am a very hard worker & harvester. My harvesting is harder & harder when preachers like Joel prey on people who do not know the true Gospel. When preachers like Joel set the television veiwing public against the true Gospel, it's harder to lead a soul away from hell. Yes, I'm complaining. Every Sunday, he puts all sorts of road blocks in the way to confuse earnest, honest seekers of truth. That is my complaint. Joel, get out of the way so man can see that he is sinful & he needs a Saviour.

A lot of his teaching is from the bible, principles, ethics, morals, values, and charaters. I could go on, but if you want the excerpts, we can open the bible up. He may not literally read line by line from the bible, but his principals comes from the BIBLE itself. He's putting it in everyday life and terms. GEESH! It is too hard to see.

this is the most nonsensical analogy you could make. first of all pavement won't break a diamond. secondly, in order for partial truths to be of a whole truth, all of those pieces must fit together without conflict. if they don't fit together, they can't make a whole truth. therefore, all the different religions of the world cannot be of the same truth, because they all conflict. just because your analogy sounds all philosophical, it doesn't make it true. think harder next time.

I am a Bible believing Christ-follower and if I encountered a homosexual and was concerned with their salvation, I would make my priority to emphasize to them about Jesus, not tell them their sexual orientation is sin. Your responsibility is to go and tell the world, not to go and call out sin.

My non - believing friends says, " It is hard for us to go to church because of these rich pastors from TV shows making it sound good the for man but not for God." Even non believers can distinguish from true message of the Lord from a false message from some pastors.

I do understant that when non - christians looks at these message and say, "why are two christians urguing about church and a paster." But you know what people, it is better correcting what is wrong than to make non - believers hear what is not the way of the truth of our Lord.

don't speak what you don't know. Jesus DID "judge". He called the pharases snakes, hypocrites. He told people to Go SIN no more. He told the woman at the well basically she was an adulterer by telling her she had 5 husbands. He even called people children of the devil!!!! READ YOUR BIBLE!!! In a church standing on a pulpit making fun of the preacher of the biggest congregation in the United States. All of the people that say he is a false teacher obviously do not understand anything. It's a shame that no other people can come to christ because when non believers see things like this it makes them see that Christians are just regular sinners and there is nothing different about us. Like he said to Larry only God can judge ones heart, not Joel. Joel is only doing Gods work and it's not up to him whether people go to hell or heaven. Whether one goes to hell or heaven is up to them and God. Being human, do we know when we're going to die? The answer is no! Only God knows when we are going to die. So, therefore you can't say that Joel as a pastor should know whether people are going to hell or heaven, let God do that.

I know that God con only judge but Joel needs to aleast preach about other things than living in victory all the time I have never heard him preach alot about Jesus and pastors have to tell you the truth if he is not going to say a non believer is going to hell then maybe he should stop preaching and give lakewood church to a pastor who can preach more than prosperity and living in victory or becoming a better you.

People are doing the exact same thing to Joel as they did to Jesus, having to prove himself to people. Joel doesn't have to prove nothing to you, and if you don'tlike his sermon then you know what? It's a free country DON'T LISTEN to him. Most people are just jealouse of him because his technique is helping million of others to get closer to Christ, and I'm glad he's doing it.

There are plenty of non-believers in this world. There are many people following differnt religions and belief systems that include leading a good life but don't include Christ - I'm not sure a buddist who has live an entire life of purity is going to be "denied access" into the pearly gates of Heaven by Jesus because they've "never been introduced to Jesus" through no "fault" of their own. God is a good God.

I totally agree with you, It seems like people are so quick to judge others and hope for them to fail. For me personally I feel that if anyone don't like the way Joel preeches, then don't listen to him.

I personally met Joel Osteen and Victoria at a last fall. The line to meet him was atleast a mile long & this man and his wife went outside to the end of the line and personally, graciously and humbly took time to shake each person's hand with both hands. Joel was so humble, thoughful & kind so It seriously get's me nauseaous when people are unfairly attacking him, regardless of disagreeing with his teaching. He's helping many people and there should be atleast some level of respect toward him.

How wonderful! I bet he is very genuine, caring, and loving. I know, can you believe people are trying to bring him down, almost as if they want him to fail. All I have to say is that he's the reason why I gave my whole entire life to God and Christ. I know he will be bless to continue reaching the billions of souls out there that are hunger for Christ's love and he will prevail all the negatives. If people don't like his teaching then perhaps they have a choice not to listen, and stop hating.

You can get a sense that he's a nice guy and that's why there is so much criticism against him. If he was a B*&^%$d - people would worship him. Again what get's me is why people are so disturbed by a man who's helping people and giving positive messages in these time when people of other religions are blowing up people "in the name of God".. I understand that Christ is the way, I never said Olsteen was the way. I believe that God uses Joel to reach others to come and accept God. I love my God and my Lord Jesus Christ, but to say people are going to hell is not my calling as a Christian. If none Christian was to just automatically go to hell then, what about the Catholics, the budhist, and many others? I think only time wil tell, and it's not up to us to say or determine anything.

Joel Osteen is an awesome guy, I feel sorry for those who cant understand him. Truly God has used him to touch thousands of people's life and still God is using him. Go listen to his testimony of how God changed his life and your life will be changed too.

I totally agree with you, I guess people just don't get it. People trying to put Joel down, wish for him to fail, but the Lord's not going to let that happen. I believe the Lord is using him to reach out for the hungry soul, and bring them to Christ. People are doing the same thing to joel as they did to Christ, having to prove himself to people. Anyways! You may not need to hear about it-but think of all the others who may desperately need to hear it. If he's not for you that's ok of course- You know for some people, Joel Osteen is the biggest dose of positivity they get all week. He recommends the viewers get into a "GOOD BIBLE BASED CHURCH AND KEEP GOD FIRST IN YOUR LIFE - AND HE WILL TAKE YOU PLACES YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN" really -what's wrong with that?

To be clear, I wasn't being disrespectful to Joel. I think he's a great feel good preacher. I'd take him over a Jerry Falwell any day of the week. Personally I am not entirely convinced there is much 'meat on the bones' of his teaching. But if works for some people then that's just fine with me.
