If the protests are fake, who shot all of those people? Who tortured those people? Who beat them to their deaths? I doubt protesters would kill their fellow human beings.

The poverty isn't only on shia in Bahrain, it's on a big population of the people in Bahrain and that includes both, sunni and shia. Shia just happen to be the majority. (70%) So it's more likely to see a lot of shia people suffering from poverty than sunnis.
