Ur obv. not a lawyer... stolen is stolen... the insurance co. w its deep pockets would likely try to claim ownership via the courts, having paid Cage 4it. It may cost 1M to defend a case like that. However, it would still be pretty sweet to find a stolen Monet in an unit auction...
glendon, today at the auction a unit went to $1400 and I dind't hav the heart to keep bidding. I said I'm a scared little bitch and the guy next to me looked at me funny lol.
Theres a clip on Storage Wars about a comic collection one of the guys got in a unit. He sold the collection to a comic store for $80,000. The comic store turned around and sold it to an insurance company for $800,000. The collection ended up being one of the 10 most valuable collections in the world with a value of $3.4m.
The article mentioned that the LA police have the book while they investigate. Am I the only one who thinks this comic book is about to become missing again?
No way if i was the guy who stole it and found out it was worth million and i knew about storage auctions i would get a friend to put it in there for a few years then mysteriously get him to stop paying and buy the unit my self, if you are robbing stuff from nicolas cage, you would know what it is workth and you wouldnt forget about it
@Bonzomods - dude get over yourself, you one of those folks i am talking about, with that if it was me crap! The only reason we know this was in a storage unit was because it was stolen, each year many high end things end up going to some lucky bidder!!! I have not only heard about it, I have experienced it!!!!!
@Bonzomods If its stolen, then chances are that it now belongs to the insurance company that paid out on it. So your plan wouldn't have worked. You only have to read on here about people who found out that they had stolen items and they had to return it. And the guy who stole it could be in prison or dead which is why the unit came up for sale.
!?WOW?!.... I hope he didn't see the the comic book and say "throw everything else away, we just hit the jackpot!" because I think everything else is where he gets his money back. Even if the statue of limitations is up it only affects the law that was broken, I think. The battle will likely be over ownership and the insurance company has a million+ in it on the payout to Mr. Cage. I'll bet, whoever has most money in attorneys WINS!
@fundxthexmental time will tell, there is a lot of law to be discovered on this one, but I am quite sure there are some other goodies in the unit! The theft stole more than one books, so it a pretty good chance he has other high end stuff in there.
something fishy about that story....

@gameguru415 i understand statute of limitations. however, i'd be suing regardless if i was the 1 that lost the $1,000,000 comic.

Hey Glen. You been to any auctions in Vegas? There's literally a Stroage Unit facility on every corner. SERIOUSLY!

If these auctions were all that, the owners of the complex would just bid first and crack 'em open.

@Colortiniz Owners make plenty of money. That's why they sell these auctions.
