Why isn't Fox allowed in Canada? Because of stricter laws about what constitutes news. Fox admits some blocks of time are opinion, but there is no difference in the messsage on their opinion shows when compared to the so-called news shows. Fox has been busted giving talking points to their on air people. A poll done in 2004 found a majority of Fox viewers believed weapons of mass destruction had in fact been found in Iraq. Christ, even the Daily Show ran the clips of ACORN representatives assisting people in setting up prostitution rings in the United States. This video didn't give a single argument in defense of acorn, with no acknowledgement of the proven corruption at ACORN.

Why isn't Fox allowed in Canada? Because of stricter laws about what constitutes news. Fox admits some blocks of time are opinion, but there is no difference in the messsage on their opinion shows when compared to the so-called news shows. Fox has been busted giving talking points to their on air people. A poll done in 2004 found a majority of Fox viewers believed weapons of mass destruction had in fact been found in Iraq. Pure propaganda!

Christ, even the Daily Show ran the clips of ACORN representatives assisting people in setting up prostitution rings in the United States. This video didn't give a single argument in defense of acorn, with no acknowledgement of the proven corruption at ACORN.
It was just a weak testimony given by an unnamed woman about how ACORN allegedly had positive impacts on her community. And they just try to make it seem like Fox overreacted by cherry-picking their opinion programs.

I've seen the full video where the Acorn lady was asking them to leave - Fox edited that out. For example, for some chemical companies it's cheaper to break the law, pay the fine, than it is to follow the law; even though the former harms people. They don't care as long as profits rise. @Rosey0224 - You are both defensive and unwilling to think critically and your "Thanks for playing" snide remark is as immature as many of the commentators at Fox "news" - They are a propaganda machine and the entire network, both their anchors and their talking heads all promoted the "Tea Baggers" for months and still do. Neil Cavuto presented as "news" a "turn out of 10,000 protestors" in Sacramento last year, AFTER the park ranger clearly told him it was far less than 5,000. Typical Fox.

If FoxNews were openly, like you said "a rightwing extremist channel", I'd be ok with it.
But they advertise themselves as The Bearers of Truth. Their very slogan "Fair and balanced" represents the opposite of what they do.
Just stand guard ant the doors of your mind. And make sure your opinions are fair, balanced and above all, your own

hahahahaha!! we have like 10 major stations that are quite literally a mouthpiece directly from the oval office to our brains... its actually quite refreshing to most thoughtful americans to have 1, ONE station that doesnt subscribe to everything pelosi and obamai say. the ENTIRE political media is liberal and people freak out about little fox news which happens to be literally CRUSHING the rest in ratings.

you have the right to believe anything you want to believe... ive never heard anyone on fox say that water is dry but if someone did i expect noone to believe them. the part thats worth noting is that its the ONLY station that offers those viewpoints to the people that share them which according to rating is a overwhelming majority of citizens. i always say fox and msnbc are two sides of the same coin so i agree with that but do stiffle free speech and "bring them down" is ridiculous

apparently they dont have sarcasm in portugal. let me rephrase, i understand your point, the problem is your point is silly. politics isnt as black and white as whether or not water is dry. secondly if you are trying to make that analogy it would be more accurate if rephrased as "what if i said water was dry and 99 other people said it was wet." fox is a lonely rightwing extremist channel lost in a giant see of liberal progressive media.

2, you are correct about news by definition not being viewpoints, which reminds me fox is just about the only station to air people that at least can admit their shows are political commentary like glenn beck. thats the only thig seperating beck from olbermann. both are full of hot air but beck admits it. like i said two sides of the same ugly coin ones in murdochs pocket and ones in pelosis pocket

The haven't figured out, if government had the power to bypass the constitution and close down media they didn't like...this administration would do it. They don't need a petition.

Not really taking sides here but I do remember the Bush admin criticizing the NY Times & CNN for their covg of teh war being too negative, and especially MSNBC.
and they literally froze MSNBC out. They were not invited to white house briefings, etc.
I didnt vote for Obama but I do know that he has done nothing to Fox like Bush did to the media.
Like i said, I'm neutral but I sure am seeign a lot of double standards since Obama was elected.

Yes, but you might note I didn't object to anyone not choosing to talk to media people...or discriminating against media people. Everyone has the right to choose to whom they wish to communicate...right, left, or in-between.
My criticism is toward anyone who believes gov't should be able to open, close, manage, manipulate, or in any way interfere with media and freedom of speech and communication. The concept of this petition is proposing exactly that..."closing" a media outlet.

So much for their belief in the constitutional republic system. Their FEAR got to them. Still does. Every day.
Talk to ANY teabagger and they will tell you that Obama will try to take their guns from them. Despite the fact that HE CAN'T LEGALLY DO THAT. Yet they still FEAR HIM.

Really...I don't fear him...and I own a lot of guns. I think he's a social worker, spoiled brat, weenie who is in way over his head.
I look down on him...I used to manage a dozen social workers, all like him, and considered them to be weaklings dependent on using rules, regulations, and the legal system to keep safe rather than manning up and caring from themselves. The guy's a momma's boy from way back. And Obama is merely a president..our employee...he has no real power. You should read more.

That is the idea...congress has the real power as they are our direct representatives. The pres is simply the chief administrator and titular head of the armed forces. He can do very little without their agreeing to allow him to do so
