The boy reminded me a young (Gael Garcia Bernal in The science of Sleeping), I interpreted his final sentence as a resignation for the loss of a paternal figure who might have give him the confidence to speak up while the molesty was going on. The same can be said of the beer soaking his dreams away. Ludwig, in the end, now clearly remorseful and depressed, comes to the revelation that the world is a mean place.

I think that the whole film is itself a metaphor for the loss of innocence as we grow up. The island represents feeling trapped - probably what Ludwig feels in his relationships with both his grandma and the other guys. No matter how hard he tries to escape it, he realizes that the world is harsh and won't let him leave (when the grandpa dies/ the volcano). He cannot stay innocent. His relationship with the girl is key because the other males for this change upon him, as the clock ends.

Fascinating how these very original cut outs and the stylised puppets carry an emotional punch. And much was ingeneous and at times pleasurably 'artful'. But I was not sure about the ending - who was saying what to who and why and the sequence with the drawings did not seem to come organically from the story up to then. Then the the formal look at the means of production didn't help much. (That sort of thing is dangerous in a real theatre too. It jolts the suspension of disbelief) .Thanks!

Amazing puppeteers! The ending wasn't quite clear to me. I guess he resented his Grandmother because it was for her that he was now living on this island with a poor life.

I definitely saw this as the beginning of a story rather than a complete story. I kind of liked it that way, because it made the viewer worry about what was to come for this boy rather than attempting to tell you.

i love the graphic style but i didnt catch the story about the perv guys with the girl, is it a paralell story or what cause it gives a bad feeling v.v about the girl , but overall the whole work is just amazing , the camera moves, the focus and defocus stages you guys are simple creativly amazing, i wish someday i could joing to future short, mi animator life is just starting but i hope in a 2 years become better than you guys :) with my own creative studio team .
