First of all, you're still lucky she didn't attack you. Deer aren't the gentle creatures Disney make them out to me. Deer have been known to gore people. 2nd of all, you shouldn't be proud of feeding wild animals like that. They are coming around expecting it now, they should NOT be taught to approach people for hand outs. 3rd, doesn't matter if it's a deer or bear, It's a WILD ANIMAL. Too bad a Ranger didn't catch you.
You need to consider yourself EXTREMELY lucky that you didn't get badly injured or worse. Petting ANY wild animal in a National Park, National Forest or other natural habitat is detrimental to their survival and preservation. This also applies to the crowds I've seen stop on the sides of road in Yosemite and gather to try and get pictures of bears. Please don't do this. In the future, there are places like petting zoos if you'd like to touch these wonderful creatures.
I have to agree- back move and ignorant not to learn that these animals are wild- then someone gets attacked and tries to sue the National Park system. Those deer kick, trample, and get seriously injure people. Dumb move petting it and even dumber loading it here sorry to say.
This is so wrong. Those deer are wild and you should NOT pet them OR feed them! Not only can YOU get sick from anything they have (a tick for example) but so can they! Sickness aside, people approaching these animals sends the wrong message. What's to stop somebody from petting a "tame" bear? One day that bear is going to attack somebody thinking it's an easy source of food because of people like that woman. Let's leave these animals alone and enjoy them from afar :(
First of all, this is a deer, not a bear. Second of all, she was enjoying it because she came back up to us and started rubbing on us and even licked us. She wanted us to scratch her right behind her ears. My family lives in the area and there are many deer that come to the front porch every night to get fed and let us pet them all the time. They even give birth under the porch, so shut the hell up.
