Best intro to a song ever. I wish they would done it from the very beginning though. You Starz fans know what I mean. If you haven't heard the intro from the album then your missing out.
Starz is an American band, not Canadian. But you can find two versions of TAKE ME - one from 1980 and one from 2005. Just search "Starz Take Me". Thanks for watching!
Good to see this. I loved that band way back when ... can't even recognize Michael Smith ha ha ... is there a version of Detroit Girls anywhere? Would love to see them doing that now .... rock on
Wow, I heard the band yeeeeears ago, and I still remember it's high quality... And here I am searching for the band in youtube... And Here!!! a 2007 gig... incredible!, Congratulations!, Great Band!
omg !!! this brings back great menories of a great night!!! i was at this show and it was a heck of a show... both bands that night were just absolutly awesome !!!!!
I wore out this 8 track, bought another. In the early 80's, I had a local record store special order this on vinyl. Heck, I'd probably buy the CD now......
Shocked to see this dated 2007, but then again, the Guess Who is playing in town tonight.
Amazon has the CDs, or you can download individual tracks of some albums on iTunes and CDBaby. The band manages to play once a year or so and still sound great!
Discovered these guys in 1976 in Mi.Armed with their first 2 albums(Starz/Violation)I joined the Navy and headed south to Mayport,Fl.My shipmates loved the albums so when Coliseum Rock came out,of course,I bought it.A guy from Philly told my later that the title song was the greatest rock song he ever heard.I love being the Typhoid Mary of straightup RnR.You just wonder how other bands w/less chops, got so big, when our beloved Starz were forgotten.I'll be that 50 yr old dude w/a Starz shirt on
Starz and Angel!!! brings me back to my high school days in the 70's. I actually saw them on the same show at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Great bands!!
The original members in this video are Richie Ranno (guitar), Michael Lee Smith (vocals), and Joe X. Dube (drums). Bobby Messano (guitar closest to the camera) is quasi-original as he played on Coliseum Rock (the 4th album). Brendan Harkin (who played on the first 3 albums) did play some reunion gigs in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Pieter Sweval (bass) passed away in 1990 and George DiAna now plays bass for the band.
I have their dvd called LIVE AT JAXX recorded on June 6, 2003 in Springfield,VA. That movie takes me back to when I saw them here in San Antonio. STILL one of the greatest bands ever along with MOXY and LEGS DIAMOND. Anybody remember those bands too?
I will forever KICK MYSELF in the ass for not going with my oldest sister see STARZ live in 1977, Detroit. Thank You for this...I get the emails for upcoming shows... I just cant attend right now.
Ok PG, thanks for posting my first Youtube debut. Yes, that is me in the baseball hat about six minutes into the song...standing right up front where true rock fans should be...and deaf later on. Great f'in show. Took me back to 1976 and stealing my older brother's albums. Keep the Detroit show videos coming.
Thanks PG for posting this video!! I wasn't able to make the Cleveland show on the 31st, but would appreciate any video from that show you may have. Thanks for keeping Starz music alive. This band rocks!
