@NazarethNostalgia they won't cause that would prove that cart was the better series and the irl was a big mistake. even though we all know it was from the outset. also if you noticed this vid says a future indycar driver got his first win so that's what they think of cart i guess. however when any champ car driver went to the irl i pretty much considered them done with openwheel racing
Why can't you guys make the 2012 cars like this? The DW12 won't change anything. It's still an underpowered pig. Give them 1000hp and sequential shifters and let em rip like the old days. If you need proof that thats the way to go look no further than this video! I rest my case.
ugh, talking about a "future Izod Indycar Series Drive" getting his first win here is irritating as hell. Dario had tons of wins in Indycar BEFORE the 'Izod series' crap ... Just say this was his first Indycar win, and don't diminish what he did in other series before 'Izod Indycar',.. It's a slap in the face for Indycar fans.
I noticed that 'CART' was not in the title or description. I guess when Indycar absorbed Champcar they decided it gave them the right to pawn off it's history as their own.
@foxtrotalphaone When IRL bought CCWS, they also bought all the records, which basically means that all the CART/CCWS races are technically IndyCar races. It also means that from 1996 to 2007, there were two champions in Top American Open-Wheel Racing. It's no different from when CART took over USAC records back in the 80s.
This is so great to see again. Yes if only the new IRL will be like this. Just to see Greg Moore again is such a wonderful thing too. This was my last road race before moving back to Dallas.
That's cool to see that you guys post the full races. Better than copies that I could get my hands on. Also cool to see you post both old IRL races and old CART races. Big thumbs up for that.
MORE MORE MORE... THE KEY TO GET US THE FANS EXCITED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF INDYCARS IS TO LET US REMEMBER WHAT EXCITED US IN THE PAST... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK INDYCARS!!
Workers and course vehicles on the track and NO FULL COURSE CAUTION! Learn from history Indycar, and ALMS, and NASCAR, and F1... all of modern racing needs to get their collective acts together.
@redriverman2006 SO TRUE. There are entirely too many cautions now, it's a joke. Quit stopping the race every 3 laps like NASCAR does, let it be continuous, it's more exciting and entertaining that way, it makes the mistakes a driver make so much more dramatic.
I'm so glad this has been posted, not only because it was a good race, but because I was there! I was sitting in the turn 5 bleachers most of the day.
@savior314 Or Helio, or Alex Barron, or one of the multitudes of drivers who hadn't yet scored number one, and would then go across to the IRL in the early 2000s.
@redriverman2006 I'm pretty sure Alex Barron never had a chance to win during late 1990s in CART. He drove for All American Racers circa 1998 in a Eagle chassis with Toyota blowing up every weekend. Then drove a few races in 1999 for Penske, when the captain was struggling with his own chassis.
I miss CART so much. The sweet sound of turbos, the variety in chassis and engines, powerful cars that never needed push to pass to make a race exciting, great tracks like Milwaukee, Road America, Portland, etc. that need to be on today's schedule, no cookie cutter race tracks, beautiful looking cars, big crowds and great commentators like Bob Varsha and Paul Page who just made the race that much better and could make anything exciting.
Other than Indy, Road America and the Milwaukee Mile are the two best tracks for open wheel racecars in North America. I hope IndyCar will return to these venues in the near future.
Was wondering, Why do we get the wild feed of these races? It's cool and all, but I would really like to see these races with the running order and such on the screen.
ahh, the beautiful liveries of my yesteryears. The lightning bolt Target's. The Kool Green cars. The old Texaco and Kmart cars. All together at Road America. Now that is some serious CART racing.
This is fabulous! I enjoyed these races at Road America immensely! Can you post the 1994 race where a certain rookie took his first CART win?? I always wished I had taped that one!
Indycar, you are so amazing in every single way. You post old races, you stream live races, your tickets are cheap, your drivers are awesome, your schedule is the most diverse series in motor sports, your youtube, indycar.com, facebook, and flickr are inclusive for the fans and most importantly your product is the best in the biz. Thank you Indycar. Thank you thank you thank you!
@Rdwomack Too many ovals, no Road America (yet), just now engine diversity, still no chassis diversity now or in the future, Two Elite teams win 90% of the races. A decade ago the series was on Top, now its at the bottom fighting the ALMS for 2nd or 3rd most important racing series behind NASCAR.
I wake up everyday to the sound of Franchitti`s honda engine, i made a ringtone from a part of this video, one of the commercial breaks.
