  • Like a manaquin, he stood dead still for ten minutes while the band set up, as soon as they kicked into the first song he just spat into the crowd and went right off!

    Good ol fashioned entertainment kids!

  • No I don't remember that one, but I do remember, disco caca, city of shit, and I'm pretty sure he did a song called I wanna be black?

And I do remember his 2 female back up singers wearing little g strings with Australian flags on them and them putting cornetto ice creams down there and ice cream running down their legs!

    Outrageous!

And I remember him wearing a g string, body all painted gold with an old flying hat with a pink record stuck on top, the roadies carried him on stage like a manaqui

  • RRATS BANDER was the real deal!

  • @markeastonlimousine

I saw Rrats at Stagedoor Tavern many times, remember the song Chisel and Ax?

  • omg <333333333333333333333333333

  • Cloudland Brissy, cant top that one

  • The Bondi Lifesaver!

  • Awesome, I saw these guys at the Plantation Hotel in Coffs Harbour in the 70's. I wasn't even old enough to be there.

What a concert, music these days is so boring.

Lady Ga ga? Give me a fucking break!!

  • I live in New Zeland now but in the early 80s I was standing in the crowd at the Manlyvale Hotel enjoying the antics.

  • I lived next door to the Manly Vale in the 80's and saw some top bands there.

I was standing at the bar one night waiting to see Simple Minds New Gold Dream concer,t and Jim Kerr walked past me behind the bar. Wohoo

  • Used to love seeing Jimmy and the Boys around the traps. Iggy and Joylene were a crack up. There was another cool shock-rock band doing the pub scene back then ... Rrats Bander. Anyone remember them? Both bands were awesome entertainment!

  • Thank you so much for the song and the memories. I saw Jimmy and the Boys at the Stardust Hotel in Cabramatta a lifetime ago- or had it already changed its name to Sweethearts by then? Plenty of fine bands played at that humble establishment back then including INXS before they became famous (another treasured memory). Anyway, I've been trying to get hold of this song and They Won't Let My Girlfriend Talk To Me which has been posted as well. Many, many thanks!

  • I well recall these cats in around 1978 at the BANGALOW BOWLS CLUB N NSW -what a fuckin blast way ahead of everything else around and I used to think well where were the TUBES --Get it?

  • AYKM?

  • I really wish someone would post the whole Teddy boys picnic album.Love to hear brave new world again--with lyrics like "we'll swap our heads for TV sets and a large mechanical dong dong, the lights are on the doctor said but no one will be home"

  • @brawlingnun

type JandBat Selenas in your search and you'll get a concert of Jimmy & Boys, which features tracks from the Teddy Boys album....

  • Hey Ryan - I have just uploaded some live video that you have expressed interest in the past . I believe this was the last Jimmy and the Boys performance in the over the top mode. Anyway search for it at:

    JandBat Selenas

Took me about 2 years to get it sorted... Thanks for all the great work you have done! not2shonky (steve)

  • Monica Trapaga's bro' Loved it!

  • I have this Album on vinyl and love it a lot, it is a gatefold and very rare

  • It is allways a pleasure to to have my predictions

    DICTATE

  • I heard last night Scotty Johnson is still playing drums and doing gigs in Sydney.

  • The stage door or maybe teh Lifesaver...those daze didnt do much for my memory today, great daze

  • Preferred "Arms and Legs" to this band...Iggy knew how to 'shake it' by then...Fresh Meat, oh yeah.

  • burrum i remeber them and midnight oil at the Sundowner!

  • @munggirl

I remember the boys at Bondi great nights long ago but what was the venue call ??????

  • You may already know....this was the soundtrack song played during the Ted Deerhust segment in "Storm Riders" - one of the best surf movies of all time. Thanks for posting this clip!!!!!!! AWESOME!

  • Sundowner Hotel Punchbowl, just one of the many places i saw this band and other great ozzie rock from this era!!

  • how many times we see them dave?? they did rock hey

  • @burrumheadsdave Sunny boys at the Trade Union Club. I remember the Sundowner. I wasn't really old enough to enjoy as my brothers

  • I saw them live in sw Sydney; it was a great night.

    favorited.

  • God save the Kinks!!

  • jeez, i think i was at this gig... did some gigs with ignatious in the later years... may have done front of house or some thing similar.

my band at the time didn't put out any clips till i'd left it! but i tell you, very nostalgic grazing through this collection... nice work!

  • Iggy and Joylene you owe me a drink from Mackay in 1979!!.It's your shout!!

    What a great band.

  • too much a party song-so brilliant and out there!!!

    zzz

  • If ya notice the dance floor with the lights under it, its war and peace at parramatta anyone who was anyone played there 6 nights a week 3 bands for a buck on thursdays it was a great venue i saw jimmy and the boys there a few times im not sure if i was at this gig or not,, but good chance,,Pete

  • Was wonderin where this was thought it might've been the Family Hotel Rydalmere

  • haahaa!! i can totally relate to this! :P

im the kinda person, who doesnt care what everyone else thinks! :P xD

    RIP - John Lennon ! :-]

this song is awesome.. ROCK ON!

  • just not as good as the kinks did it, sry..

  • Loved it then and still love it!

  • Poor o'l Ignacious. He sings I'm not like everbody else, yet he hid the fact that he was Spanish and exchanged his Basque surname, Trapaga, to the inconspicuos "Jones" perhaps to be just like everybody else.

  • I wouldn't have guessed he was trying to hide his Spanish origin. I dug out an old interview Donnie Sutherland did with Iggy in 1983 - Iggy clearly states that he is of Spanish origin.

The interview can be found on my 'welovedonnie' account.

  • I guess I can never understand why people Anlicize their name. They were a great alternative band though. I saw them live on a number of occasions. Once with another great but relatively obscure band called Bawana.

Hey by the way, I checked out your clips and you have some real treasures there. Keep up the good work. It's great to see someone cataloging great Aussie rock!

    Cheers

  • No worries, i'm glad you're enjoying what i've put together! cheers!

  • Definitely unforgettable and unpredictable live. Full marks for originality and putting on an insane show.

  • If their not like everybody else, then why are they singing a kinks song?

  • Coz they couldn't come up with anything original.

    No, joking.

Check out 'Products Of Your Mind' (on YouTube) and 'They Wont Let My Girlfriend Talk to Me' (on youtube under the nzoz1981 account). In their time and in Australia, they were different from the rest...

They took notes from The Tubes and Rocky Horror Picture Show and combined those elements into a Pub rock show. The singer is now a prominent events organiser in Sydney.

  • Possible I can. Bought the LP when it was first released because we were friends with Danny [saxophone]. We used to go to some of their concerts in Sydney - they were entertaining alright.

  • How funny is a punter with "Roman" in the name being homophobic!!??? The Roman empire was built on Jimmy and The Boys style and the Russians think that vodka explains it all, loosen up Boris........... literally, I am coming at ya.....!

  • you're so sexy MyGa ...........

  • this brings back old memories when we kicked the shit out of him and his band at the Dominos pub at riverwood shit it was funny

  • Great memories there Jimmy!!!

  • Saw them Live at the Osbourne Park in 1980.A great night and a truly awsome band!!!Do not drink and drive kids, we didnt!!

  • what a fag.....

  • You want his ass!

  • You're fag too

  • I'm not gay, but I know a few gays. If you're looking for a boyfriend and you're prepared to be the bottom, I could hook you up with a strong handsome man. ;-)

  • whatever man. These Jimmy and The Boy suck

  • No, they don't suck. They prefer to receive. So how about you give your typing fingers a rest and let your mouth do the work. I'm sure Jimmy & The Boys will enjoy your services! ;-)

  • wow you schooled that guy... and its a good song

  • MyGa is such a talented man...

  • How sweet is that SAX! Great Stuff! guess you had to be there..

  • The good days of the Lifesaver and Stagedoor .... Jimmy and the Boys original and the best band: Ignatius, Joylene Hairmouth, Michael, Barry, Danny & Steve. What a band! Does anyone know what happened to the guys (apart from Ignatius Trapaga)?

  • billy o'riordan (joylene) occasionally pops up here and there doing a cabaret duo with a singer called steve rosenberg. and i believe he's back at the conservatorium of music these days. dunno about the other blokes. damjanovic was a great sax player.

  • whats the point of a tranny keyboard player if she,s on for 3sec,s.go joylene

  • For some reason I was meant to find out about this band today. I had never heard of them until this morning when I read an old Tim Finn blog that mentions them. And now while searching favorite Kinks songs on youtube...here they are.

  • Quite surreal!

Jimmy & Boys made a hit out of Tim Finn's 'They Wont Let My Girlfriend Talk To Me', which can be found on my nzoz1981 account...

  • I remember a show when I was 16 and one of the band did a hand stand in front of Ignatious and he bit into his crotch. Ignatious must have had a blood capsule in his mouth because there was blood everywhere. Ahhh sweet childhood memories.

  • Vanjane my wife and i both remember the ol blood trick iggy used to do we saw them at war and peace in parramatta a few times, it was jolene hairmouth the tranny key player that did the handstand, great days i still have some of their stuff on vinyl..Pete

  • Definately not the sort of concert your mother would like you to see. LOL. But what fun!

  • I seen Ignacious Jones at the Gold coast on opening night of the jazz blues festival at the international hotel with Pardon me boys doin all that jazz stuff,,and some jazz legends from USA he was the best on the night and so different from jimmy and the boyz...Pete

  • Ahhh .... Butchy Boys .... "I'm going whack on your bum, make you sit on my thumb, gonna whip you to you come, cause that's what the Butchy Boys do" .... just a few words from the leather-clad, blood splattering, handstanding, crutch-eating song.

  • Very Dangerous gigs, Tough, great, times, saw them 14 gigs in Brisbane, Easts, Queens Hotel, Exchange, and other nameless Valley dives.

Smack bang in the Jo Era, stiches, fights, Cops, Vicious Bouncers, piss, debauchery, mateship, love, drugs, blood, mate bit the crotch out of Iggys leather pants and gave him a toungue kiss! Easts f/ball club middle of "The Cops are Coming" Tell the kids nowdays and they won't believe ya!

  • when u flung the pigs guts i beleived u would dress.how do they forget. friggin leg iggy.

  • the first time i saw a band naked.

  • Leather God.

He brought Kings Cross to my living room.

There must be a Butchy Boys video somewhere.

  • I Saw Jimmy & The Boys At Guildford Leagues Club Supporting Midnight Oil.

    That Was A Good Night.1978-79

  • my dad played for these guys for a year and he told me that one time they played countdown in the morning and had to fly to melbourne for the hells angels concert/festival and the crowd were a bit lifeless so he said there sisters had more balls on countdown then they had .the bikers went nuts iggy got smashed and ball bearing the head biker dude had to get them out.

  • Hey Lockstock thats a true story,ya dad knows! they copped a hiding because they used to do a version of Leader of the Pack, and changed it to Leader of the Smack,Angels didn't find it funny!

  • even more mental than Split enz LOL

  • I saw these guys play more than once at the infamous Bondi Lifesaver back in the day. That place was so tough it hurt! A pointtime when sydney siders feared going to Bondi, how times change!

  • I saw them at the Igloo at StM0ritz Ice Rink in Stkilda about this time. Awesome! BUt I thought at the time IggyJ was influenced too much by Iggy pop, lux interior and wendy o'williams (tape over tits) - but good, anyhoooo....

  • I have an original recording on cassette tape of Jimmy & the Boys recorded live at The Stagedoor Tavern circa 1977. I haven't listened to it for years - it had a lot of hissing then - so don't know what shape it is in now. I will dig it out of my collection and see how it sounds ...... stay tuned ......

  • hey i seen these guys a few times they rocked the lead singer actually organised the moves of the sydney 2000 olympics ingnatias jones as the guy said there is a compiation cd with Kevin Borich Mondo Rock & JIMMY & THE BOYS

  • Boring, whenever it was recorded. They do sound "like everybody else."

  • Stage act included fake rape, bondage, transvestites, burning baby dolls... an average Iggy Pop-Alice Cooper-Tubes show all in one package with an odd Kinks cover.

Yep, just another ordinary 70's rock band.

  • Did you ever see them live? A fantastic band live and not like everybody else !!

  • PRINCIPAL BROKER, you need to get your hand off your dick because it is cutting the blood flow to you pea sized brain, hence rendering you to spewing bullshit out of your mouth...

  • You are a wanker.

  • Sorry meant to say "principal broker" you are a wanker!

  • Is it me or shud the white stripes cover this song

  • saw this line-up a few times, they could really fire, great stuff

  • What a great meory- who recall "Uncontrolable Urge"

  • I am in desperate need of getting my hands on this album. Can anyone help me?

  • I wouldn't know where to look... it's the luck of the draw finding this stuff. However, they'll be uploads of their gig performances soon.

  • There is a compilation CD called the "Great Oz Rock" disc 3 is the complete "Not Like Everybody Else" & "Teddy Boys Picnic" albums on a single cd. I bought the cd for about $15 on eBay a while back. I don't see it now but someone will probably put one up for sale at some point.

  • I have Teddy Boys Picnic on tape.

It has that genuine tape hiss.

    Gold.

  • Only the hard core fans know what this clip means... they were so good live.. from babies on fire to butchie boys.. a true great band of there time.. when people ask me ,, Tell me about your self ,, I answer ..I'M NOT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE....

  • what would Ray Davies say to this version?

  • He might say they're different.
