your jumping too much backwards .. u need to jump more straight into the air :) focus on getting air, then tuck your knees. a good advice i used alot, is do a little pre jump before the final jump, so u get that BOING! effect ;) it really made my backflips better.

good ur jus throwing ur head back as soon as u take off which leads ur body down if u could try and focuz on something in front of u at the same level as ur eyes then as u take off focuz on it instead of jus throwing back u will go higher then backflip u will be higher because u delayed by looking forward slightly good and u could easily improve them
when you do a backtuck, technically, your supposed to start and end in the same spot... but nobody does that because its near impossible. a lot of people i know also travel back kinda a lot but you if you just hands by your legs or behind you knees and dont touch down and keep your chest up but your tucks are pretty good =]
There is nothing wrong with your back flips. You have the strength, poise and focus. What I would suggest that you obtain some 1" puzzle gym mats and practice on a flat level surface. When crouching keep your back 90 degrees to the ground and your arms 90 degrees to your body. Just before you launch bring your arms down and as you launch bring your arms fully over your head for momentium. Hope this helps

Your pushing back as if it were a back hand spring. Jump up, tuck, land. What your doing is Jump back, tuck, land poorly. by jumping back you are losing the necessary air to do a complete rotation and land smoothly

If you do want to improve them, it's in your arms.
You're making a 90 degree angle at your elbow as you punch them upwards(causing backwards rotation)
Watch a gymnast, they go straight along their body straight to the air. Arms are for height;not rotation.This would give you more height less movement

Alright man this is your problem: you're not jumping UP!!
You're jumping more back rather than up so you're eliminating your self from getting that high "COG" or Center of Gravity which is the point you spin at. I'm sure by now your back flips got better..or improved so yeah. I hope that helped.
yeah, just work them until you get 'em down. i have been doing them for like 6 months and i don't have them down yet. some people learn them a lot quicker than others.

If you want some sort of adive though... When I go for a backflip, I don't think about it. I don't stand there for however long thinking about it. If you know you can do it, Go for it. Thats what I do anyway.

guy below me is right you have to get your center of gravity as high as possible in this case your center of gravity is your hip (lowerbody - Core)
Just jump straight up und then put your CoG up and then rotate
