What?! Nobody put Mandrax in their Brylcreem for this show? J/K!!! It's great that everyone got together to pay tribute to Syd. I wish they'd do something great for Rick, too. Syd made his contributions, but the post-Syd PF was the era of truly deep and reflective music. First PF album I put on my IPod... Atom Heart Mother! =)
The choir were superb. It was a great evening. The only thing I did not like was that egotistical little prick in the white shoes who seemed to think that he was the star of the evening. What a twat. Who is he anyway ?
sorry to annoy you!i'd been working 12 straight weeks putting the concert together(band, musicians, lights, films etc).there was almost no ego from anyone involved, this one was for syd.
i got everyone onto the stage to perform "bike" for the encore & am trying to encourage someone to sing the other verses.
the white shoes were my tribute to syd along with chapter 24.
I've just seen your post, Nick - THANK YOU for a truly moving and memorable evening and a fitting tribute to Syd!! I wasn't around to witness the original Floyd UFO performances, but the light show extravaganza that Optifanatics put on at the Barbican made me feel just like being there! The guest appearances were, of course, beyond everyone's wildest expectations and a stage reunion would have made it perfect, but hey... let's not ask for too much:)
Last week I had the honour and pleasure of meeting Storm Thorgerson at his book launch at the HMV store in Oxford St and he also commented how poignant the occasion was.
Any chance of officially releasing the audio of the concert and any updates on your new album?
The white shoes belong to Nick Laird-Clowes former frontman of the Dream Academy and now known as Trashmonk. Nick was the concerts musical director and producer along with Joe Boyd. He has also co-written songs for Pink Floyd.
What a great line up! Thanks to Nick and all the artists who took time out of their busy schedules to pay tribute to Syd!
yeah I agree, it was a fabulous line up. I particularly enjoyed the choir they had singing with them. Chapter 24 was one of the highlights of the night for me and would love to see that again!
This is awesome, surprised I never found it before. Vashti Bunyan there for a Syd Barrett tribute? Awesome!

Hey does anyone know if there's a BL of this concert? Or at least a song list? I'm a huge Syd Barrett fan.

Didn't know Vashti Bunyan was there, interesting - what did she cover?

She did Scarecrow and Love Song, with Gareth Dickson and Nick Laird-Clowes.

amazing, but whats with the back up vocalists reading the lyrics as they sing em??
kinda lame seeing as its a TRIBUTE, only real fans hould be trying to re-create music, and if your a real fan, you dont need a lyric sheet!

Yeah and it's only like 50 words they couldn't memorize it?

Sorry for my ignorance but who are all these folk. I can make out Gilmour, but the rest??

Uh... Chrissie Hynde, and Robyn Hitchcock to name a few. The song is "Bike" off of the first Pink Floyd album The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn".

So jealous! I wish they did this in the US (or a full Floyd reunion for that matter).

Hi Popstar,
I'm Jennifer John from Sense of Sound choir who sang that night. I manage the choir and also sing in it. We loved the night - amazing.
Cheers.

Thanks for this! Line-up also includes the inimitable Captain Sensible, upon whom Syd was a big influence.
