German Shepherd swimming / playing fetch

I've always owned English Springer Spaniels. Water is second nature to them, I can't keep my dog out of the lake. Always wanted a German Shepherd though, maybe for my next dog. Just not sure I'd be able to get the exercise in. Nothing exhausts my Spaniel like 30-60 minutes of fetch/swimming. Then he sleeps like a baby. ;)

@blackiesmommy Some dogs are swimmers, some aren't - Cera was an excellent swimmer but Ally didn't really care for it - but she liked wading along the sides just fine.

@TotalGermanShepherd Yeh i can tell Cera is an excellent swimmer!!! Ally did look like she was tempted to get in though!! Tha's just like my dogs i have some that love to swim and others that won't get in the water at all!!!

my german shepherd goes to a lake everyday but only in the summer and he will go for anything that you throw into the water even a bottle cap. He is more like a german retreiver then a german shepherd

mine just sits in kneee deep water when at the cabin. im not lieing she just sits or lays down in water or swims half a mile across the lake and back. She is the wierdest dog I have ever seen.
