I like the Metallica progression. Tizmoret ruined the song, but A.K.A pella did a really cool cover. This and Ashira are my favorites on this album. Sov, is the way to go, it can be proved because when a sov is next to a tzadik it becomes a tet, because it's impossible to say mistza'er.
@KyuchiBeri The word "yofyafisa" comes from the root word "yafeh" which means beauty. The song comes from psalm 45:3 and is all in Hebrew. In this usage, the word is used as "you are the most beautiful".
A breakdown of the song is as follows:
Yofyafisa - you are the most beautiful
Mi b'nei adam - of all the men
Hutzak chen b'sifsosecha - grace is poured upon your lips
Um, I consider myself Messianic. :) I mean, if I'm going to live the bible from Alpha to Omega, and these things are Jewish things, then so be it! The Lord chose Israel above all other nations, so I shall pray for the peace of Yerushalayim and follow the ways of Him.
La canción es de los Salmos. 45:3 - las palabras son: 45:3 - the words are: "Eres el más hermoso de los hijos de los hombres; La gracia se derramó en tus labios; Por tanto, Dios te ha bendecido para siempre."
@Brooque613 I've been wondering what the words were... It's so hard to understand the Ashkenazis pronunciation. (especially when you live in Israel and only hear sefardik)
OMG! I feel so proud to be a Jew! LOL, that was random but I just wanted to say that...
Sometimes when I listen to these cute (alright...GESHMAK) Jewish songs-I feel so proud! My grandparents always tell me over stories from the HOLOCAUST-and they say how Hitler's dream was to totally eliminate anything considered JEWISH! That includes Jewish songs! And now look at us..we're talking about how much we enjoy listening to this JEWISH SONG! This is exactly what he didn't want! Remember that guys!
YUP! It makes me happy every time I hear it! And it reminds me of my friend in Chicago who was the one who got me obsessed with it, so that makes me even happier!
lol Yeah! It is easier than flipping through all the other songs to get to this one, even though the whole album is really good. I was just listening to it today!
Where can I find the lyrics ?

Wonderful song. I just have one question: What does "yofyafisa" mean?

@Brooque613 it SHOULD be pronounced yafya'Fi-TA. beautiful one (feminine)
so should Sif-to-tai-cha and not sifsosecha.
gavers23 1 year ago
@gavers23 It's all semantics. I mean, the pronunciation really depends on whether you're using the Israeli or the ashkenazi pronunciation.
Also, the psalm is written in male format not female format.
Brooque613 1 year ago
@Brooque613 And if it were Yemenite it would be "Yof-ya-fi-THa"
jwalk126 1 year ago
@gavers23 Actually if we are going to say how it SHOULD be pronounced, we might as well do it like the Yemenites. Therefore it would be Yofyafitha.
jwalk5747 1 year ago
@gavers23 Why? The singers are all of Ashkenazik descent!

Different dialects pronounce the tav as a "t" sound versus an "s" sound.

lol I totally agree with that!
Hitler (yemach shemo) did want to obliterate anything remotely Jewish, and here we are flaunting it in a totally public place!
Definitely a happy moment in Jewish history. =)

I think the whole CD is great - Kel Hakavod is definitely a really good one too; but Yofyafisa is #1! ...even though it's #5.
Baruch HaShem, my sedarim were incredible! I hope yours were, too!
