He played this in the year I was born!!!. He played with his fingers and eyes, as if there is no breathing required. Fingers were playing piano and flute and trumpet. Well, ofcourse the name is Larry Adler. I have favourited on my channel.
It is a Polish lament known as "Warszawo ma" (Oh, My Dear Warsaw). You can listen to it in one of the first Polish movies after WW2 "Zakazane Piosenki" (The Forbidden Songs) sung by beautyful Zofia Mrozowska. I found it on YT as:
The song is a traditional Polish/Jewish folksong called Mein Shtetele Belz or My Littlle Town Belz, a lament for one's childhood home village. Recorded by many including Mandy Patinkin.
Extraordinary finger choreography, has to be seen to be believed. Larry Adler was one of the most memorable composers and performers of the 20th century, beautifully filmed here in fabulous1940s noir.
awww the sound quality is bad here on youtube or something.. its low definition.. so the harmonica sounds more like an ocarina or something.. a different tone..
