I remember being 15 years old, in 1995, listening to this album with my then girlfriend. By the time this song came one, we were both sleeping next to each other on a couch, as the summer sun streamed in through the window. One of those little memories ill never ever forget.
@an1m4l I too, have memories like that. I can remember in the summer of 06, I was lying naked in a shower stall at the YMCA with my grandmother, after having taken several doses of acid, when this song started playing. One of those moments you just never forger. RIP Grandma Myrtle. Gone, but not forgotten.
For me this song personifies what mental depression feels like on a daily basis. Standing at the end of the world, all by your lonesome, for all eternity. Such sadness and yet so very beautiful at the same time.
@Jockesse there is a little line between love and hate, mate... cheer up, like would beatles say: "Obladi obla da, nanaanan life goes on..." ;) Don't worry be happy, Bobby Mcferring... What can we do? You can't live in a past ;)
@Dechko Yeah, i know dude :) And actually, I feel better off without her sometimes. It's just that i miss some part of the great things we shared sometimes. Something i just have to work on. As u said: I can't live in the past :) There is a reason why I brooke up with her.
I found this song from Moby's album "Everything is wrong" album which I bought in 1995 - loved all of it ever since! That and the excellent "Move" EP. Not half bad for a vegan Christian.
This song kinda scares me cause it captures how I felt sometimes when I was younger.I didn't want to go on with life cause I was so tired of living.Even though I'm well over my depression this brings me back to those feelings.Beautiful and haunting at the same time.Well done Moby.
I'm sorry to say it captures how I've felt all my adult life, since depression set in. I actually discovered the album (and thus this song) the last year I was happy, 1995! Anyway, it is an amazing song, I want to learn how to play/sing it. Anyone know the chords??
I like this song so much, it resonates with me and makes me cry every time. I remember when I was a teenager by myself coming up with the analogy of life being a constant struggle which I was getting too tired to continue with, like being forced to swim through water constantly just to stay alive, and then I heard this song and it was pretty much about exactly that. One ofthe most imoportand songs in my life.
@castillianwagon500 I know your heart is in the right place, but thats pretty dangerous advice. I think you should sek some manner of professional help.
castillianwagon500 never gave advice in that comment. The comment was an observation: "you (sheppar) sound like you have depression," and two personal statements: "I have it extremely bad but control it with drugs. I am attracted to this song too." No advice was given. Also, you seem to have made assumptions about "drugs" without context nor clarification. So, what was your point in saying that it was "pretty dangerous advice"? You now seem to agree that it might not be.
As much as I like techno. I wish moby would of went more new age instead. He has a gift for this type of beautiful music. Most of his new stuff is pop sounding and I hated when it came out. :(
This song is so depressing.....beautiful........It's like death.....Does this person wanna die........Maybe suicidal or weary of life.....i need to go bawl my eyes out :((
@eliopoulos97 Oh hi, thanks for the reply...I didn't mean moby.....Sorry, i meant the person in the song being maybe suicidal or fed up of life....You have to be in an awful state to feel what's being sung IMHO but yeah totally agree Moby def seems like a very deep Artistic personality <33
If you guys like this song, you would love the song " My weakness" by Moby. That song is one of the most inspirational, beautiful peices of music i've ever heard aside from this of course.
this song inspires me, to spedn every waking moment i can with the people i love,
to not worry about what could have been, because i do.
because you cant tell someone you love them, when they cant here you.
please take this as a message, not to be depressed, but to do what you feel is right. dont regret. push on through the fog and keep trucking through the tide. we dont have to swim the ocean and fight the tide, we dont have to swim forever, but when its cold, id like... to die.
We played this song at one of my friends funeral and rarely i listing to it in my car whenever im thinking bout my life. Its a real good song very haunting indeed
Enmeshed and puzzled by the fabric of a mysterious creating force, my soul crushed like almonds, yet the course of my heart was once on its way to peace.
What was a desire for success became nothing more than the fear of failure.
Look into my soul, I am a sinner, a lover and an original saint. We are one.
this song moved me to tears when it comes in at the end of the sopranos episode where tony is in a coma, perfect for that final scene of him sitting on his hotel bed contemplating his life as he sees it.
@GoinDownToJunkieTown I feel that shit for sure. The "Kevin Finnerty episodes" are some of my favorites. What a great scene, the searchlight, lighthouse in the distance. Shit gives me chills. Probably the best show ever made, next to The Wire and Six Feet Under, and well Twin Peaks. It definitely created the most iconic TV character to date. My wife and I are rewatching the whole series right now, Fucking incredible. I miss those Sunday nights.
At this moment in the Sopranos, I felt unexpected emotions while watching a series about the mafia. One could actually feel sorry for Tony. This was the most beautiful moment of the entire series.
@pattipilot Well said brother!!!! a love all the madness the show has to offer but this is trully the point when it grabed me and made me feel madness and sadness inside, so much emotion.
