Hydro electric power is no longer considered as a renewable energy source due to its impact on biodiversity and negative impact on human health. Please do some scientific research before you come to the conclusion that this is propaganda. If it helps, I'm also a Chinese that looks down on western media.

Criticize them? This dam is being questioned by their own people bring gagged by their government! Those stating this is only to criticize China, check out what dams do on the whole to culture and the environment .China is also a country in drought and desertification. Hydropower will not solve this problem.

@waterforpeople China also has the largest reforestation project in the world. The Dams has probably prevented a 100 million tonnes of Green house gas per year. It also very likely help reduced lose of life and property damage during flood season.

I understand there were some cultural and ethical concerns about the dam, but this report is just down-right biased.

Mega dams are an environmental disaster displacing millions of people, ruining culture, and flooding lands needed for agriculture. Of course, they are great moneymakers for powereaters.

@waterforpeople Fortunately this dam has not caused any eathquake, but it has replaced the millions of coal powered electric powerplants that would have otherwised been build which would have polluted the shit out of the already questionable air quality there. it has also significant reduced flooding risk to settlements downstream and protected the major urban center of wuhan during 2010.

All the documentary would do is glorifying such project, saying how great it would be for the people in New Orleans and creating water for dry areas in eastern Kansas and stuff. The chinese government are cloaking this environmental mess in the propaganda of "let's save the world". This damn is only necessary because of the Chinese preoccupation with consumption in the first place.

@Croquantes I am a student in hong kong researching the 3 gorges dam and the report seems accurate-it's polluting the environment, the fish are dying, and the ramifications of building a dam here would be result in water rising etc. But they didn't try to tell the other side of the story because the dam would be beneficial to china's economy and really china's one of the few countries that's taking initiative in green energy. I dislike the dam but this report reeks of anti-china sentiments.
