@Shoknifeman I really like this band. I admire Naoko very much. She walks the talk of rock. I'm sure you know that she will turn 50 next month. She is amazing. I love reading her blog. But I do miss the band with Mitchie and Atsuko. Naoko has said that Atsuko was a very unique drummer with an unusual sense of rhythm, and Mitchie's songs brought a quirky but fun element to the band's sound, so they are a little less musically diverse these days.
@chowyunfat1000 Well, this isnt actually a Shonen Knife video... but, to talk about your points, I loved Atsuko and Michie also, but, that doesn't make Ritsuko a bad bass player, in fact, my GF is a professional bass player and calls Rits-chan's bass playing "Awsome" :) We all miss Michie who played bass in a style all her own, but, if you watch Ritsuko closely, you'll notice she plays bass much in the same way that Michie did!
@Shoknifeman You are clearly more knowledgable then me about Shonen Knife and the musical skills of the members. I will watch and listen carefully now to Ritsuko. I am from U.S. and I think I miss subtle things about SK. Are you one of members' boyfriend?
@Shoknifeman I am in California, I see your Canadian. In 1980 I went to festival in Toronto with Rockpile, B- 52's, Pretenders, Elvis Costello and Talking Heads - debut of expanded band. Clash were scheduled but didn't show.
This is just SOOOOOOOOOOOO kawaii!!!! As much as I love Michie and Atsuko, I have to say that I love Ritsuko (pink Kimono) almost as much, Im glad she joined Shonen Knife!
I agree with Kolitar. I'm a big Shonen Knife fan, and these girls are similar, but I can't help wondering if there's some party official lording over them, saying " make lock and loll". They look really stiff and uncomfortable. All that being said.. I have their music stuck in my head as well.
@lightwavebob To be serious, the similarities have more to do with the fact that, like SK, Keihan Girl was also out of Osaka, and Ritsuko (Pink kimono) was a huge fan of the Knife.....so much so that she quit her 2nd band (Denki Candi) and joined SK when Atsuko retired from playing bass.
Ritsuko looked super cute even back then.... of course, she's even hotter now

Surprisingly good. I always thought Ritsuko couldn't play bass. I watched her fret hand and it never moved.

@chowyunfat1000 Ritsuko isnt playing the bass here, shes in the pink kimono

@Shoknifeman Well then, I guess that still means she can't play bass well. Thanks for correcting me. What do you think?

@chowyunfat1000 I saw her live in Toronto, and, she seemed to play very well indeed

I'd love to see Shonen Knife remake this (After all, Ritsuko should be allowed to sing her own songs ;) )

@lightwavebob You'd looks stiff too, if you were trying to play fast guitar in a kimono ;)

Technically this is a lot softer than "my" music, but I just cant help myself. It gets stuck in my head.
