Rape fantasy is just that, fantasy, in which the woman controls both the content and the outcome of the situation. Real rape is a complete loss of control and a violation of body and psyche. Having experienced both.....trust me, there is a BIG difference. However, I do agree that popular culture (film in particular) has contributed to blurring those lines for a lot of people. The bottom line is this : consent=rough sex, no consent=rape.
@mac020507 Yeah, both Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer said they fantasized about violent sex and rape... Just a fantasy, you say? Well, that's how they start.
@MDRhodesify Actually, I was not referring to a man's fantasy, but to a woman's. That is NOT how rapists and killers "start". They start by being mentally disturbed (at least) or psychotic. They have an impairment,or a complete lack, of the basic human conscience that differentiates between fantasy and reality and the consequences of their actions. Normal people have the ability to recognize the difference. Bundy and Dahmer didn't just fantasize, they acted on those fantasies. Most people don't.
@mac020507 I know they acted them out, my point was that one of the ways they started was by just fantasizing and it turned into something more later. Not all rapists or killers start out as mentally disturbed, it actually depends on the individual. Nature or nurture? That's very debatable. Completely normal people can become disturbed. And they're not psychotic, they are psychopathic and the thing they lack is empathy not conscience, at least when it comes to most serial killers.
@MDRhodesify No, not all men that commit rape have a mental disorder and people often kill for reasons that have nothing to do with a mental illness, but SERIAL rapists and SERIAL killers are mentally disturbed i.e psychopathic, sociopathic, and often psychotic by the very definition of a serial offender. Lack of empathy is what allows them to commit violence against others without guilt, lack of conscience is what allows them to repeat and escalate the violence of their crimes.
@mac020507 The definition of a serial killer is one who kills at least 3 people in separate occasions. A typical serial killer is mentally ill, but, not everyone who kills 3 people in separate occasions has those illnesses. Serial rapists and serial offenders are along the lines of the same definition, and do not always have illnesses. And conscience has only so much to do with how often one commits a crime. There are many crimes that offenders commit that they regret, but they still do it again
@mac020507 Also, there are many still commit crimes of violence against others that are actually quite mentally stable. My point is, there is not a universal way to say specific reasons as to why one turns out to be who they are. It's a combination of many things such as how they were raised, mental disabilities, their influences or surroundings, AND their personality. All of which vary among everyone. Those who fantasize about rough sex may not always turn out a killer/rapist, but some do.
@MDRhodesify The very fact that someone commits a violent crime indicates mental instability, if not a specifically defined mental illness. Nature vs nurture just speaks to the origins of the instability. A person who is systematically abused and becomes an abuser is mentally ill and needs help to overcome and change that cycle. A schizophrenic is mentally ill, but that is a disorder one is "born with" and can be treated and dealt with to some degree.
@mac020507 One who is abused and becomes the abuser does not mean they are mentally ill. Mentally ill and mentally unstable are two different things. Mentally ill suggests that it is a psychological disease of which may be treated but not completely cured. Mentally unstable suggests a temporary psychological state of which can be cured or matured from. It seems that we have gotten off topic & I feel I have fully expressed my point, so this is my last reply. Hope all goes well for you. =)
@MDRhodesify And good luck to you. If your channel profile age is correct, you showed a very mature and impressive ability to discuss a very complicated subject without resorting to name-calling or insults. That is rare on such an un-monitored (is that a word?) forum as YT. I am considerably older and further along in education than you and I enjoyed the discussion. That says a lot about you. Again, good luck and good journey. Blessed be.
Also, it may not happen nearly as often with women as it does with men, but it has happened to women too, it will will probably continue to happen in women every once and a long while. (At least that we know of) Look up Jane Toppan, she confessed to being aroused by the murders she committed.
@lulllzy01 it's almost cute how you copied the exact same thing you posted 6 months ago... except that it's not. it's appalling and horrific and actually pathetic.
stop spreading offensive lies about rape, you misinformed, misogynistic asshat.
@stilltainted922 I had to block this twisted freak from my channel because of his sick remarks about rape, and my channel is just clips from a soap opera in the 90s. That guy is a real winner, huh?
Hmmm.. I would not say any of those scenes really depicted rape, rough sex maybe, some violence and passion, but actual rape? but i get what you are trying to say, but i would say that rape is a little strong, maybe if you have used material from a film depicting actual rape like the Accused (Jodi Foster) also putting clips together like that takes them out of there context but maybe that is what you had intended
@phoboskitty I get what you're saying. Admittedly my video's title is misleading. But I wanted to pull in views to open the discussion.
Some of the movies used DO contain actual rapes (Gone With the Wind and What's Love Got To Do With It? for example) but it was more important to me to show implications rather than actual instances, 1. becuz I don't think I could post actual scenes of rape on youtube and 2. becuz it is our mentality surrounding rape that I mean to consider
@stilltainted922 Where exactly do you see rape in Gone With the Wind? I always wonder why people jump to rape. Rhett sweeps Scarlett into his arms and carries her up the stairs. Yes, she is flailing her arms about and trying to get out of his arms, but the scene fades to black as he climbs the stairs. The next scene (morning), she is smiling and humming a happy tune to herself and smiles at Rhett when he walks in the room. No woman is SMILING at her rapist the next morning, not even her husband.
@mac020507 I see rape in the part where he carried her upstairs against her will and proceeded to have sex with her when she did not consent to it.
and you're right, women typically don't smile and hum little tunes to themselves after they are raped. that's where hollywood's rape apology/rape fantasy myth comes into play. that would be the part where the film tries to justify rape in the audience's mind by saying "but she enjoyed it!"
@stilltainted922 It is not the intent of the scene to imply rape. There is a big difference between carrying a woman upstairs against her will and having sex with her against her will. There is no sex in GWTW, consensual or rape. Implied sex, yes. But assuming rape based on that scene alone is like seeing a man get angry at a locked bank door and assuming he robbed the bank next. I dislike the objectification of women and the lessening of rape in cinema, but I just don't see it in this scene.
@mac020507 Dude, all the sex is implied but that doesn't mean the implied sex can't be rape.
she tells him she doesn't want to have any more children, if he knows what she means. he knows what she means. in that scene they were communicating through production code speak that she doesn't want to have sex with him anymore. he demonstrates how easily he can force his entrance with the symbolism/metaphor of kicking and breaking her door.
@mac020507 THEN, in this scene, he tells her that this is one night she won't be turning him out. he will have sex with her as a punishment for her crush on ashley and because as his husband it is his right to. she does not consent to his forcefully carrying her up the stairs. YOU CAN BET she doesn't consent to anything that happens after the fade to black. if she didn't put up a fight, it would still probably be out of fear that she allows him to do anything sexual. that is still rape.
I take clips out of context all the time. That is how I edit videos. I use work that already exists in the consciousness of pop culture to weave a new story in a video that I create. By using clips from other films, I am making references while simultaneously inventing a new narrative.
I'm sorry it was such a jarring experience for you.
@stilltainted922 your video was i no way "jarring" so no worries just perplexing, but you aready mentioned the title being a little misleading, but liked alot your selections.
From my experience.... Women like rough sex where as girls require rape. Im only 23 but girls my age definitely desire the sort of passion a man has to have to rape them lol.
@DixieHomegrown i'm pretty sure anything you say including the words "require rape" is wrong and needs to be reconsidered. i'm only 20 but i don't see what your age has to with anything and i believe you are quite mistaken. no one desires rape. passion and rape are two very different things, my dear, and you should really look into that.
Just goes to show womens rights STILL aren't equal. I'm sorry, but more and more films are exploiting women (in terms of violence and rape) these days and they're becoming more graphic as well. It makes me wonder what's behind it to be honest and I wonder about the morals/values of the "MEN" who come up with these story lines. We don't see men being raped or beaten in films by women, so why do we see the opposite? Why does it SELL movies? Fantastic video :) Anyone who doesn't get it is an idiot.
I can see that the point to this video. One can clearly tell its some sort of film study. There doesn't appear to be rape going on in those little clips more like consensual non consent, rough sex, and domestic violence ie the face slapping. Nice film study video.
@stilltainted922 It is a BDSM term. Consensual non-consent refers to the type of agreement made in a relationship based on Domination and submission between the Dominant and submissive party, stipulating that the submissive has consented to the Dominant's decisions and puts him/herself in the care of the Dominant. This type of agreement is not to be taken lightly.
@stilltainted922 A submissive party living in this type of relationship might be or become a slave, relinquishing personal freedoms and rights to the Dominant's discretion.
@stilltainted922 This type of consent, which is also called blanket consent and metaconsent, is also applicable for those who will submit to being disciplined since they don't want to be disciplined at the time they are getting punished but do want to be in a relationship where they are subject to it, so it's not consented to at the time but is consented to overall.
@bumblebeebumbleboo at 3:22 we have the 1990 John Waters musical Cry-Baby and at 3:27 we have the BBC Shakespeare Retold: Macbeth which is a made for tv modern adaptation of Macbeth.
@lulllzy01,it does not turn women on that's just the way your body reacts when something is in your Vagina that's why some people that have been raped or molested feel it's their fault because their bodies reacted different (turn on) but their mind is traumatized !!!!!no women likes rape unless it's a fantacy than that's ok but not real rape.women like to make love
@lulllzy01 I think it's more likely that you are a troll as well as an asshole and that your scientific/statistical "proof" is about as useful as disregarded jizz in a used condom.
rape, by virtue of it being RAPE, is not a fantasy.
@stilltainted922 lulllzy is a fucking idiot. the idea of rape itself is not what turns women on. The idea of rough sex is what turns women on. Rape, in the legal definition is non-consensual where the person, at the most base level, does not like it. This means that they menatlly do not want it, as opposed to not liking the physical aspect of it but getting off on it mentally. If there is physical discomfort but mental consent it is not rape. If there is no consent, it is rape.
@stilltainted922 on top of that, there is a physiological response to rough sex, as i explain on my channel, that is positive if and only if it is within the pain threshold of the person receiving the rough sex.
i fucked a woman up the ass hard a few days ago, and she came a bunch of times. She likes anal, has done it before, was in a bit of pain, but had it killed by the release of endorphins which act as anti depressants and pain killers resulting in orgasms and euphoria.
I like your question. I thought about this after I read the novel the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, where the main woman literally gets rapped and falls in love with the guy who rapped her.
I guess my theory is that it all has to do with control. Our society implants the idea in our heads that we always need to be in control of our lives, from school to work to marriage. Therefore we find a situation where we loose control sexy. I mean, that's why Domi-matrixes exist, right?
@Free2Soar4Ever I love The Fountainhead, it's one of my favourite books but I don't think Dominique was raped. I think she was dominated. I don't think there was ever a moment when she didn't consent to what was going on- but i might have to read the book again cuz it has been a while.
as for losing control being sexy, i think the idea might be sexy and to feel like you are helpless is- but to ACTUALLY be helpless is something else entirely.
@333Jesuschrist if you read the video description it explains that this video is a look at violence in films and how it relates to sexual attraction and chemistry between characters. all the clips feature a man abusing or getting rough with a woman. sometimes the violent reaction is triggered by something the woman was doing on purpose to "needle" them and sometimes it's a shocking reaction the woman did not desire. it shows how our society lumps it all in together- which is probably not good.
@Arenzoj Yeah. Thats, What I'am trying to find. But, I want a rape video but yet a documentry about it at the end. A Good one, Not some movie over did type shit. They have. Like the rape tunnel. Now, That sucked and so wasn't funny. So, Yeah. But , I'am not trying to be perverted or anything. I Just like to watch documentries and stuff because it helps with my school work and what i want to be. To help people.
@princ3zzh0tty Could you email me sometime. I am also trying to work with sex offenders. I just graduated from college and know that I want to work either with sex offenders or their vicitims but dont know how to get into the fields. I would like to exchange information sometime.
BBC did this thing where they took 4 shakespeare plays and revamped them for modern retellings. macbeth was one of the. it's pretty ballin... james mcavoy plays a chef, yummy
Very interesting. I found this looking for k.d. lang's cover of the song, which, you're probably aware, generated it's own controversy insofar as the irony she meant to expose in singing it--and interpreting it the way she did--was often misunderstood. It's good to see someone saying something interesting and intelligent about popular culture. For something that reflects and spawns such a rich array of societal pathologies, I think pop culture is largely untapped. Keep it up!
@riverbeddesert i'm so glad that you feel this way about my work, it means a lot to me to get htis kind of reaction. thank you for your kind comments.
yeah, it frustrates me too that people don't understand her irony.

I can see that the point to this video. One can clearly tell its some sort of film study. There doesn't appear to be rape going on in those little clips more like consensual non consent, rough sex, and domestic violence ie the face slapping. Nice film study video.
hounddog45601 8 months ago
@hounddog45601 sorry, but what do you mean by "consensual non consent" and how is what you're sayign different from rape? I'm a little confused.

This type of agreement is not to be taken lightly.
hounddog45601 8 months ago
@stilltainted922 A submissive party living in this type of relationship might be or become a slave, relinquishing personal freedoms and rights to the Dominant's discretion.
hounddog45601 8 months ago
@stilltainted922 This type of consent, which is also called blanket consent and metaconsent, is also applicable for those who will submit to being disciplined since they don't want to be disciplined at the time they are getting punished but do want to be in a relationship where they are subject to it, so it's not consented to at the time but is consented to overall.

@lulllzy01 I think it's more likely that you are a troll as well as an asshole and that your scientific/statistical "proof" is about as useful as disregarded jizz in a used condom.
rape, by virtue of it being RAPE, is not a fantasy.
stilltainted922 11 months ago
@stilltainted922 lulllzy is a fucking idiot. the idea of rape itself is not what turns women on. The idea of rough sex is what turns women on. Rape, in the legal definition is non-consensual where the person, at the most base level, does not like it. This means that they menatlly do not want it, as opposed to not liking the physical aspect of it but getting off on it mentally. If there is physical discomfort but mental consent it is not rape. If there is no consent, it is rape.
vduke 11 months ago

Free2Soar4Ever 1 year ago

Keep it up!
