god bless the men of the eatser rising. i dont care bout the queens visit. they weren't protesters. these are the real martyrs. god im so proud of them.
A real lovely Irish song,, true story and you see it all in Kilmainam jail in Dublin. As another person here descirbed it, it is very eery but you get the true sense of our proud history. You see the chapel where the wedding took place as dsescribed in the song, you feel Grace Glifford and Joseph Plunkett, to whom this song is about is there with you and think about the days before their wedding, the 1916 rising. proud part of our history.
I was there about 2 weeks ago and took pics of the chapel and cells during the tour, a very poignant time, and very interesting for me. Wonderful to see all the historical things. Great holiday with ny husband.
this has to be one of the best stories of true love.. irish people are so lucky to live in a beautiful country and have amazing history.. I am english from irish parents. my daughter is Erin as in Erin Go Bragh,,,
As April 24th approaches we must remember not only the men who died but the women who stood behind and with them. RIP and hopfuly as 2016 approaches an United Ireland will be a reality!
Unbound, unfettered,chainless I am chained
A slave to fair freedom, lest withheld
By force from servitude I am compelled
To league with liberty, since sore distrained
The blind obedience to my lord, engrained
In his poor servants, willing might be quelled
And love and light and life belost, as eld
Is lost of which no memory hath remained.
JM Plunkett 'Unbound, Unfettered, Chainles i am Chained' 1911
