How do you deal with buying silver over ebay? I mean, I imagine that while the "good reviews" is a start, what do you do if you get a fake silver coin? And how would you fend off the counter of "well, I sent you the real deal and you sent back a fake"? It makes me nervous trusting the whims of strangers.
@Kendrahf That is why you check it immediately when you get it to make sure it is genuine. Ebay and paypal have protection plans and if something is fake, you will get your money back. I have had to file with ebay and paypal once in a blue moon and I was always protected. Hope that helps.
I have invested around 6k of silver by buying lots off ebay. I weighed them when I go them but just learned about the Ping test. I pinged them all last night and found 7 that failed the ping test. But, I also found a 1921 silver Morgan dollar with the most beautiful Ping I've ever heard. So be very careful ordering off of ebay.
Those of you who are unsure about buying from anyone or new to the business, just go to reputable companies like Apmex or Gainesville Coins. When you feel comfortable to bargain and that will take time, you can then go to ebay.
@barnone11967 I have been in the Business for three years and still, I wont go to ebay. You need to have the knack for bargaining too. If someone lacks the patience to bargain like me then stay out of ebay.
During the coming great crisis then that is different, I will bargain to exchange gold or silver for food when my food storage runs out.
@Chismoso7 I totally agree and acknowledge what you are saying, but the average person will not know what you and I know so ebay is a place tons of people go. If you learn what to look for, you can protect yourself. I got a fake set of coins once on ebay and I got my money back and the person felt so bad that he sent me a silver eagle for free ( And that one was genuine). So I hear what you are saying but you should not totally dismiss ebay as a way to get some good deals.
@barnone11967 You were lucky that the person was honest but that is one in a trillion. Most people will lie with a straight face or rob you and carry on laughing. How do you track down a guy who just robbed you who lives thousands of miles away on ebay? Does Ebay have a fraud unit?
@Chismoso7 That is a last ditch effort to salvage what they can from the euro. They just killed the Swiss franc.... It was going to die with ALL Fiat currencies anyway. Thanks for the heads up :)
@MainOffenderKZ Because those 2 are the most widely know bars and will sell faster and you will get more in return for those 2 then others. The others are not bad, I just recommend ones that people know the most.
@MainOffenderKZ That is great. I am glad you are starting to invest. If you cannot afford gold bars, try getting some 1 gram gold bars which are running currently about $75/ea. I know it is not a lot of gold but if you stack up on them it will build. Of course, if you do have the money then buying 1 oz gold is always the best way to go. Enjoy your silver and keep stacking
I agree with everything you say except one thing. I disagree with the thing you said about 40% halves. they are still silver just less. me personaly i dont buy them because i have (somtimes lol) enough to buy 90% or bullion rounds i.e eagles. some people cant so they could buy 40%'s. also those are smaller denominations so if silver becomes money it would be easier to spend. But thats just my opinion. loved the video chris thanks for it had valuable information in it.
@playeryhm Honestly, if you are buying coins I would rather have a 90% silver quarter or 90% silver dime then a 40% silver half dollar. Those are great if you find them but I'd rather have the most silver in the coin for the money I pay. Thanks for the comment and I am glad you enjoyed it :)
@spacebrdcst I wanted to give people a few starting points. It makes it easier for them to get into precious Metals. That is a good test to administer so thank you for mentioning that.
@Kashmir2000is Thank you. I hope you learned something from it. Please pass it along on facebook and favor it here so others may learn this before it is too late.
@barnone11967 You're welcome. I already knew all of this, but it is always good to hear it again. Remember that ping sound we all love, isn't full proof. They can and do make fake morgans, for example, that make that pretty sound. :) I will favorite this for others reference. I thought you did a great job though. I would have appreciated this video as a kick off when I first got into metals.
@barnone11967 An excellent point too. I was surprised when I met with one of my buyers. He didn't bring a scale, coin caliper, nothing. He didn't know me for beans, ye he passed over a little more than $1,000.00!
as far as eagles are concerned the weight I find to be around 31.4 on average, but yeah thats normal to have a tidbit more.
as far as post 82 pennies, they are a good to invest, because the price of zinc is only 97 cents and thus 25% the value of copper it is worth holding on to zinc pennies as well. Especially when its fundamentals are as strong as silver is for parabolic gains based on supply/production/usage. The Hoarding of all USA pennies will be common next year
@endlessmountain Zinc pennies are really not the best way to go. They will take way too long and you will need tons of them to be worth anything. Besides, a new investor wants a few choices and when you overload them with too many choices, they tend to get scared and back away. So while I agree it may be beneficial in the long run, I am focusing on precious metals primarily in this video :)
@barnone11967 If you had the choice to buy a stock valued at $50/share and it cost $100 to buy and you were guaranteed any time to sell the stock for $100 if you can't get any higher would you take the bet? The pennies can be returned for the cost at any time, however the value of 100 pennies over one piece of paper that say One dollar is what?
I don't consider myself an idiot for keeping every single as well as trying to find as many USA penny and pre 2000 CAD pennies.
@endlessmountain You are preaching to the choir my friend, I hear what You are saying. I am just keeping this video simple for new people who may want to start investing. So I limited it to things that they can do best in. You know I have much respect for you my friend :).
@slobomotion Thank you very much. Please share this on Facebook or any other channels so the people who have no knowledge about precious metals can learn. Thank you :)

This video is fantastic. There is only one thing I'd add: digital calipers is also very cheap, and is another great tool to have around.

Why do you only recommend J&M and Englehard bullion bar?
I was thinking of buying APMEX bars or A-MART because its a bit cheaper.
