Sting's version is sombre, and for my taste, a little under-played. Claptons' version is awesome, potent, it resonates deep within me - but in this version, I just love the legato, languid treatment of the intro, and the extra sections Sungha has incorporated... You have cut a very distinctive version of this classic!

No offence, but you're falsely referring to the 2nd (album) version as the original.

The original was played and written by Eric Clapton with Sting and Michael Kamen.

It was released before Sting put FoG out with a new version.

And no offence but certainly that version is not superior to the real original one, just different, and it's subject to taste which one you prefer.

I predict that the bluesy original is timeless, while the FoG version will be soon forgotten as ethno cheese.
