When I was a kid, this album came out. It was one of the few "Pop" albums we were allowed to listen to. My dad was a musical purist. The 3Bs for us were, Bach, Bartok and Brubeck. He made an exception for the Carpenters. We use to play the second side of Now and Then over and over and over again. There will never be an American Pop singer like Karen, not an arranger like Richard. Karen was the voice of the group, but Richard was the music.
Such a blast from the past! A truly talented woman. So sad that "perceived" body image issues led to her early demise. The world suffered a great loss.
I can remember when she was just starting out, she could stop traffic, just to listen to that angelic voice. Karen, you are missed. Thank you for gracing us with your voice. Rest in Peace.
One of my favorites. Love the songs, Rich and Karen's voices and the rhythm....
It brings back old good memories ... as dancing these songs on Saturday
