  • Disadvantage of living on the east coast. It would cost a fortune to go to Hawaii.

  • @phillyguy95 This flight came from Chicago, so it was getting close, and there is a nonstop from Charlotte, Atlanta and Newark. It's pretty competitive from Denver eastward all across the board price wise, so it should not be that much more.

  • @phillyguy95 sometimes there are a really nice fares to Hawaii from NYC airports!

  • 4 people wish they could afford to visit Hawaii!!! Went there 5 years ago and it was awesome!!!

  • Landing was smooth as butter!!

  • I actually live on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. It is very awesome here, the beaches, the mountains, everything.

  • I flew with a 777-200 with canada air from Vancouver to Honolulu. Had a nice flight.

  • You noe, when ever there's a top comment (which reply people), I will spend about 30min just to find that comment which the top comment mention.

  • Awesome Video! I am very excited! I have just booked a flight from SFO to HNL with UA on the 777. I am travelling from England, so its going to be one amazing journey.

Does this aircraft that operates the SFO to HNL route have the individual seat back TV systems? or is it main screen? thanks guys!

  • @scouseflyer It will be the 777's with the main screen only as these are domestic flights. They may be long, but still lower yielding. Have a great trip!

  • @PhilG380 thanks very much for that information.

  • LOVE IT!!!!

  • oh god, its so beautiful there i think i crapped myself. lol

  • You can see the P&W logo on the side of that engine. United sure likes their P&W's, probably a legacy from when both companies were part of United Aircraft. United will have a problem if they buy the 787....P&W engines are not available for that plane.

  • I went to Hawaii from japan in 2008 July 8 too!!!

Possibly,we met at Honolulu international airport.

  • If the route that you're talking about is flown by a 777, then I absolutely agree.

  • Yeah, I would have to say that the 777 is a good choice for this route. Where I think it could be overkill is on the SFO-HNL route.

  • @silintpengin Well, actually, these are 777-200A model, not ER (extended range). Chicago-Honolulu is close to their maximum range at 8.5 hours. These are domestic configured 777's with only first and economy, and the flight was filled to the brim. So I'd say it's the perfect aircraft for the flight. Not to mention cargo on this route is very heavy as well. This was in 2008 and 3 years later in 2011, the Chicago-Honolulu AND Chicago-Kahalui are both still 777 flights.

  • @PhilG380 777-200 can fly for almost 12 hours

  • @silintpengin Federal aviation regulations require an aircraft to be ETOP( extended twin range operations) rated to fly over open water...The engine pictured is a GE-90 so it is configured for extended range flight.

  • Nice first class takeoff! How was your experience with United? Is it good? Are their first class seats good? How was their food? Thanks!

  • did anyone see an airport at 2:12? why didn't they land their?

  • Look at that water, gorgeous..

  • I rode on UA Flight 001 in 1989. Back then it was a 747 but still ORD-HNL.

  • @emusic234 It also depend on what the active runway is as well.

  • It looks like the speed brake is on? Yes no?

  • That is not a first class seat view....not at all... dream on

  • @wild1heart

Uh hunny, this is not a internationally configured 777. There is no business class section. The first class runs from rows 1-6 just behind doors 1A/B and forward of 2A/B. This is a domestic Chicago-Honoloulu route. Learn your shit before commenting with such a stupid remark.

  • @PhilG380 you've ever been on a 777 buddy? first clase is not 3-5 seats ahead of the wing.

  • @phoenox23 ops my bad....777...................oh wait still. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN FIRST CLASSS??

  • @phoenox23 Yes I have, both international and domestic......why?

  • @phoenox23 Huh? This is domestic first class, or what was then, international business class. It was 2-3-2

  • @PhilG380 first class is at the FRONT of the aircraft, NOT by the wing.

    look at a seating diagram.

  • @phoenox23 Go to seatguru.com and look up domestic 777 for United and get the fuck off my back. I know what I'm talking about. I fly all the fucking time ass!

  • @PhilG380 And another thing, I'm WAY forward of that wing. Educate yourself before you start posting crap. It just makes you look ignorant.

  • @PhilG380 You would need to be from rows 16-19 to have that view and yet you say you're in rows 1-6. Sorry man but you're in the economy plus not first class. I do like your video, really I do. But I thing it's total bs that that's in first. the CRJ-700 which I've flown first class has window angles just like all other C.A.J.'s So I from personal experiance can say that you are not in first class. I've been in economy plus and economy calss almost every flight except the CRJ-700 so I can tell.

  • @PhilG380 Sorry but going off on me because I have an opinion and think that you are not in first class does not make me ignorant you SON OF A FUCKING BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EDUCATE YOUR SELF! and what crap I'm making a simple reasoning from the camera angle, experiance, seatguru, FS2004-FSX videos and experiance. you are making a big deal of nothing out of my posts big boy. And maybe I suppose I'm being a little bit of a 'tard by placing importance over my posts.

  • @PhilG380 Want a cookie for flying everyday? the engine is proof of economy plus to me. But you could've been in the last seat in first......seat 6J, but that's doubtful. also the engine wouldn't las big like that from first class this is the end of my posts. all thurther comments can be directed to my inbox but I wont respond.

  • @PhilG380 I know that you are but what am I? I'm just stating that you would need to have a view that shows the wing root all the way to the end of the wingtip if you were in first class. you're not way forward of the wing you're several seats in front of the wing. Went to seatguru and I don't see first class were you say it is. There are more than just Boeing 777 as a 777 variant. was it a 200,200ER,200LR? Seeing as you haven't specified the variant I cannot take your word.

  • @PhilG380 you owned him with the seatguru.com thingy!

  • @PhilG380 Say things a little nicer, you stupid motherfucker.

  • that ain't no first class........dream on

  • Hawaii is like stepping into another world compared to England.

  • I went hawaii back in 2008, it is a beautiful place,I can't wait to come back, great weather, only wish we had the climate here in the uk. Your very lucky! England is still a lovely country though. Great video by the way.

  • Flying into Honolulu is the most beauitful ever hahhaha.,

  • @emusic234 Depends on where you are coming from. If you are coming from NYC or north, then yes because you'll be over the Atlantic some, if you are coming from Dallas or Houston, then possibly as you will be over the Gulf some......over the state of Florida, there is a lot of water, but not an ocean. Just look at the geography and then figure it out.

  • Excellent.

  • I landed in Hawaii at midnight. Visuals aren't going to help.

  • Very cool!

  • What is the airport they fly over while on approach? Is this a Naval field?

  • @coreyslockbower Kalaeloa Airfield (PHJR). It used to be Barber's Point NAS.

  • No winglet?

  • @raptors222222 B777's don't have winglets. Boeing felt that it was unnecessary.

  • I loved flying on that flight....i flew on that plane on November 22nd 2010 and i was in the very back in row like 48 or something....long flight but i enjoyed it!

  • What the hell kind of balled up approach is this? He crossed the runway and did a 270 to land!

  • I've been out of Honolulu for 3 years, Now i want to go back

  • that my friends is a good old manual approach and landing........glad to see some pilots not using auto pilot for approach

  • nice video

  • aaa big big engine

  • I love flying to Hawaii. I went to Hawaii once and flew a American Airlines 767 out of LAX

  • Excellent photography

    Beautiful video ....

    Thank you to creator

  • Hawaii is beautiful!

  • u live in L.a?

  • I have flown the 777-200ER for 7 years now and I just love it. It's truly an amazing work of art Boeing

  • Great Vid!! My wife and I flew on Flight 1 on May 23 of this year to go on our honeymoon! When we landed at HNL just by pure luck we taxied by one of Hawaiian's new Airbus A330s,which was undergoing route proving trials prior to entry to service!! That trip was truly a once in a lifetime experience!!

  • I wonder why there were using the spoilers so early into approach

  • @usstaralliance Many airports/airspace require a 250kt minimum below 10,000ft. So my guess is they were trying to slow down to required airspeed.

  • @PhilG380 Mhmm.

  • @PhilG380 yeah your right.. 250kt bellow 10,000!! but some airspace like airspac bravo airports.. the speed limit is 200kt

  • @ld8800 my bad!! inside bravo airspace is 250kt! bellow it is 200 kt

  • @PhilG380 actually yes that is exactly what they are for. Nice video thanks for posting!!!!!

  • @PhilG380 not just "many airports/airspace"...hahaha its a national law - FAA regulation

  • @PhilG380 You are correct. They use arm spoilers to slow down especially duration of descending. pretty much happen all time when I fly on SWA into SLC or LAS.

  • @usstaralliance

When spoilers are used for the purpose of slowing the aircraft down, they are referred to as speedbrakes. Ground spoilers are the term used when they open full to kill the wing's lift on landing, and flight spoilers are the term used when they are used to augment or otherwise completely provide roll control.

  • @usstaralliance i just got back from a trip to Puerto Rico. 2 Flight there and 2 Flights back. All four flights they used the spoilers in the approach to slow the plane down and descend quicker.

  • Did the airplane make a aborted landing into Honolulu Airport

  • @usstaralliance Definitely sequencing/separation control by PHNL air traffic control. Phil is right, most aircraft are required to remain below 250kts below 10000ft but at this point in the video the plane is well below that and should have been below 250kts for some time.

  • @usstaralliance From what i can see, they didnt use the spoilers till they touched down. You probably meant the Slats.

  • @lyianx At the very beginning of the video the spoilers are clearly deployed...

  • @cnesbit19 they aren't "deployed", its just the set on the right wing are being used for turning. Airliners use the spoilers to help turn.

  • @lyianx Semantics. The spoilers are in their "deployed" position. The fact that the spoilers in this case are being used to aid in a turn and not for destroying lift upon landing does not change that fact.

  • @lyianx And just glancing at the video again i am willing to bet the spoilers in this case are being used on BOTH wings for airspeed control. If this aircraft was banking it would use one set of spoilers and in this case the right wing. The right wing should be lower due to the reduced lift. This plane is more or less in level flight until a left bank to set up for final.

  • ZOMG TEH GRAFIX SUCK.

  • @shamsky4evr have u hear about an 777 accident lately ???

    of course not

  • I am just afraid!!! Terrified!! I schould take Valium and then all is fine!!!

  • @csrogc63 Yes, i'll try it!! I must be strong and brave, right!!? I'll try my best!!

  • Great Video PhilG380 !

  • @shamsky4evr

the same thing happened a 757 a few years back! Yes A BOEING 757 shock-horror-shock!!!

  • @shamsky4evr

Im no airbus fan but your perception onit is sooo incredibly stupid i cant belive there are people like u out there !! "to many incidents" Are u for real ?that was the very 1st A 330 crash like WTF??? there were far more boeing crashes(dont get me wrong i fly boeing and love the planes) but i really pity u if u continue to view things the way u do ! Good look in life! And maby google so boeing crashes, there are loads (so i guess u wont be flying CO either)

  • @Locker10a

Actually there have been 3 Airbus A330 crashes as of late. One of the prototypes(a P&W powered machine) was lost on a routine test flight after takeoff, killing the flight crew back in 1994. The crash was attributed to pilot error and a possible autopilot malfuction. Afriqiyah Airways lost Flt. 771 as it was landing at Tripoli in May of 2010.(that accident is still under investigation).

  • @shamsky4evr Don't be such a pussy. Boeing planes have crashed too, your all making it out as if a Boeing has never crashed

  • oh my god, the ocean scares me to death!!! I wanna fly to hawaii so bad, but i am afraid of the ocean and water in generell!!

  • @rainbow1135 Ha well, I just arrived at Sydney from Los Angeles yesterday morning. Much more ocean to cross there! About 7,500 miles of it! But think of it, the water is a lot softer than the ground, no? I think it's the complete darkness of it all. Can't see anything other than the stars, and when you hit bumpy weather, sort of freaks you out.

  • @PhilG380 yes, right, the ocean is softer than the ground, thats my problem, i dont want to end like that, being shark food!!!!! :-)

  • @PhilG380 There in lies the problem. The water is actually not softer when dealing with force and even if you survive, now you are somewhere in the ocean where you will either get extremely lucky and found, drown, dehydrate and die a horrible death, go insane from the elements or be eaten by sharks or something like that..

  • @PhilG380 A plane hitting water causes more damage than a plane hitting ground. The more you know...

  • @PhilG380 Crap I got freaked out the first time I flew from LAX to Sydney!

  • @PhilG380 well yes the water is softer but if soemthing does happen and you have to crash land then if your going 200 even 300 miles an hour the impact is much like concrete.

  • @rainbow1135 Yeah I know how you feel ! I have millions of dollars in the bank but have never been off the mainland due to my fear of flying over water. I promised myself that I will finally go somewhere for my 32nd birthday in January. The movie Castaway did not help either !

  • @tierren oh yeah, i know the movie castaway, its a hard story! The Movie about Aloha Airlines Flight 243 is a true story happend 1988!!!

    A HARD Story!!!!

  • @rainbow1135 or you could just learn to swim...

  • i'm flying to HNL in two weeks! can't wait......

  • @shamsky4evr i totally agree with what you said, however i wasn't talking about the instruments on the plane or anything like that, my point that i am trying to get across is this: If you are on a 777 and there is turbulence, its the weather not the plane, if an a330 is in the same situation its the weather not the plane, some people don't believe this and furthermore i am not saying airbus is better then 777, in fact 777 is my favorite plane. so i think we had a misunderstanding.(:::

  • @shamsky4evr The only airline in the US that flies Airbus over the Pacific is Delta. That said, Airbus planes have just as good of a safety record as Boeing. The incident involving the A330 from Brazil to Paris had to do with ice developing on the pitot tubes, which tell the aircraft how fast it is flying, and gave the aircraft the wrong indications. I flew a Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 and an A330-300 recently to and from Europe and felt perfectly fine.

  • @PhilG380 Incorrect, Hawaiian Airlines is operating a Airbus A330 from LAX Los Angeles to Honolulu

  • @shamsky4evr

Except that Continental and United are merging, and the brand Continental will no longer exist, and United flies Airbus narrow bodies and is ordering the A350 as a wide body aircraft. Then again, Continental has the 787 on order. Either way, you will end up flying United, and they fly Airbus. Quite a lot of them in fact.

  • @PhilG380 not completly true. united has many wide such as 767,777,747. i like both companies but in the end...IF IT AINT BOEING, I AINT GOING :)

  • i live all the way up in Norway.. yes it looks nice but is shit cold for most of the year..

  • Good Shit Man

  • @PhilG380 I agree with your response to charliegirl824 comment, if you are flying in a 777 for example, and you have a horrible flight and landing, it is not because of the plane but because of many different factors, such as turbulence, what the weather is like etc. the same could happen to an A330 as the 777 given the right conditions.

  • nice

  • geat video

  • Oo-o these sea colors...

  • 2:00 kalaeloa!! :D

  • get a life ppl

  • beautiful ocean...amazing colours

  • @faroolabjalmak you should stop doing drugs kid...

  • Nicely done. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you.

  • faroolabjalmak...why dont u try making some sense u fucking foreign nut job

  • Thanks for posting this - it brings back a lot of happy memories. I worked for UA in the 1980's and 1990's and enjoyed taking flight # 1 (Chicago-Honolulu) many times. Back then it was via either a DC-10 or 747.

  • @etienne818 i remembet those day the DC-10 was one of my favorite aircrafts. Back then it was flight 43 i think and a favorite by NRSA's.

  • Beautiful video -- love the scenery. Thank you :)

  • فيديو جميل

  • @BurninC4rtrage Seriously dude, you are 18 or so, do we REALLY want to rehash what went on a few replies back where you said that you DID NOT do any of those things?

  • @BurninC4rtrage There are not 3 airframes to the A330 nor are there 4 airframes to the 777. There are 2 variants of each, each with various subtypes.

But then again, who am I to say. You have flown your friends 777-300ER, and trained on the 737, and 747 was it? You probably know better than I.

  • @BurninC4rtrage

The 777 and A330 BOTH ONLY have TWO airframes. There is the 777-200 and the 777-300. The A330, the A330-300 and the A330-200. The only difference in the physical size of the A330 variations and the 777 variations are the obvious length, raked wingtips on some 777's, and a difference in tail height that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Again, two versions for both, but various "sub-types." However, on ALL accounts, the 777 is, by area, a larger aircraft than any A330 version.

  • Is the 777 bigger than the A330?

  • I have never flown on a 777 but i did fly an air france A330...It was a rough trip and landings were horrible

  • @charliegirl824 It really makes no difference which type of aircraft you flew as to how the flight was or how you landed. Smooth landings and smooth flights all depend on dynamics that have nothing to do with the aircraft, ie, winds, turbulence, ground conditions, runway conditions, etc. A 747 will land the same as a Cessna given the right conditions.

  • Negative. Larger planes such as the 747 compress the air beneath them as they land making for a smoother landing

  • Not necessarily. We can generalize and say it makes for a _smoother_ landing - especially in contrast to a light aircraft ... but WX conditions are the great equalizer. A stiff wind of any sorts - and especially crosswinds and downdrafts - will make the smoothest ride otherwise into a wild rollercoaster that may be incredibly bumpy on touchdown - even for widebody aircraft.

  • @charliegirl824 Yes.

  • does the 777 not had the wing tips? i thought it was a standard on the newer boeing planes? someone please enlighten me :D

  • @ramboormark No, the 777-200/200ER/300 models do not have the raked wingtips. Only the -300ER and the -200LR.

  • oh ok. thanks

  • Might do this flight... great video!

  • i am going there march 10th should be pretty sweet!

  • cool have u got all your things planned that your doing?? have you been there b4??

  • monday at 6 my flight leaves to mexico =)

but im frightened to death about the plane ride

  • Great Video!

  • We will be doing that same flight in March, Thanks!

  • What was your departure city?

  • @soybomb2345 Chicago

  • Thanks.

  • watched & enjoyed, and I agree with the other comments. It looks so real!

  • Flew on a 777-300 from NBO-AMS KLM Skyteam Livery.we were in the very back,Awsome flight, very smooth.

  • A great video............just as though you are there:

  • Nice video and Landing! The shakiness is a good thing cause it adds realism :)

  • @toxaris71 it adds realism to real life?? you fail hard dude.

  • @petrocheli what i mean by that is it makes you feel as your in an actual airplane and not watching in on youtube

  • funny thing it buddy!.. it is real

  • @MyFallenIdolMusic i know it is real, the camera hake just makes you feel as if your in the airplane and not watching it on youtube

  • was it turbulance or the free booze in f class just kidding like to get there one day

  • I think a combination of them both :-)

  • removes your finger!! but, very nice video.

How long was your stay in Honolulu?

  • About 5 days, just a quick trip to Honolulu. Stayed at the Halekulani and met up with a friend that plays for the Honolulu Symphony. Was a good time, lots of drinking!

  • 8.5 hours.

  • OMG!!

  • Suck s no GE90's. UAL should love GE for all the Cfm56's on the 737's they own.

  • United should love PW on all the 747, 757, 767, 777 they own

  • Which is ZERO 737s now

  • FMC Drag required! At the start of the vid. Speed breaks.

  • Nice. idle reverse!

  • Do you remember what seat number you were in?

  • Very nice vid... I hope that i can go to Hawaii in some day.

  • 772 OR 773?
