  • I hate to do a 'dislike bar' comment but the original Scott Joplin disliked this guy for showing him up. Figures.

  • When I think of Scott Joplin, I think of the Magnetic Rag. When I think of the Magnetic Rag and Youtube, I think of chocotiger . . .

  • My goodness! I just cannot stop watching your videos. You are phenomenal...what touch what feeling! Thank you again :-)

  • 1 person needs to be shot.

  • Beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us :D

  • Fuck this shit, I'm asking santa for a piano this year

  • wow....yea it sucks i have no good thing to say to this demi-god awesome vid!!! btw i never managed to get my two hands playing at the same time plz help T_T

  • emotional rag. Rather perfectishly played ;) as far as I'm concerned I don't need anything else on the piano right now.

  • This is friggin' wonderful. What a gorgeous piece and brilliantly played, well done.

  • You should really consider recording an album with all your masterpieces, i would immediately buy it and have it on loop in my house all day. Seriously. (If you ever do LET US KNOW RIGHT AWAY PLEASE) ;D

  • As Wayne and Garth would say, I'm not worthy!! I'm not worthy!!. . . Damn, that is fine playing. The expression, the emotion . . . not just some guy pounding out notes. Really moving and inspiring and filled with feeling. By far the best rendition I've seen on this new intenet thing. Got to wonder, though, is that bed-head, or hat-head? Just kidding. Chocotiger Rules!!

  • ピアノの腕もさることながら、寝癖も素晴らしいデス!!Good Job.

  • Stop copying other people's comments such as the one below me". It is really stupid, just so they can get thumbs; if you comment it should be something necessary, not something stupid. Anyway Chocotiger, it doesn't matter how you play neither how you sound; it just matters if you have a passion for the piano, and if you love what you are doing. I enjoy your' music, and i listen to it while I play along on my electric piano. Have a good Christmas vacation Choco. -Blmader 11

  • o dislikes, just the way it should be...

  • awesome song and what a genius sj was

  • I've been listening to Joplin rags for 38 years -- since the days of "The Sting." This is my favorite, and you play it as well as anyone I've ever heard. Many thanks.

  • this is great.

  • You are amazing you make me want to sit back and hear everything you have on the web everytime I hear you play.

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!! My only question is where do you get all of your ragtime songs from

  • Please learn Sugar Cane by Scott Joplin. I'm learning it myself and it would help if I could hear how you play it.

  • This music to me accurately represents the lust of a man for a woman of higher power.

  • Good job! I'm halfway through Maple Leaf rag and you are a really big inspiration to me and many other people playing ragtime and piano in general. Keep it up bro (:

  • how bout Roxas's Theme from Kingdom Hearts ll. could u do that?

  • God I wish I could play piano!!! I have hands for it I just get very confused with it all

  • just watched all your videos you are great and very talented

  • I've been quite your fan!

  • You are awesome, friend. I could wish for half the talent you have. Please continue your journey! Are you selling any MP3 / CD's? ...are you sure that isn't a player piano???? :)

  • You are awesome, friend. I could wish for half the talent you have. Please continue your journey! Are you selling any MP3 / CD's?

  • you're a damn good pianist man... Great performance!

  • this one should have 300 k views at least :D

  • How the hell do you do it, have just seen 1/2 doz of your vids and not a piece of sheet music in sight.

  • @harmusman He probably plays sections many several times over and sequences them. There are only 4 strains, and each of them repeat twice except for the A strain which repeats three times (once again between last B and first C). The ends of B, C and D strains often have subtle variations.

  • Awesome song and performance!

  • The end sounds like Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody: "Anyway the wind blows..."

    Great performance man!

  • Glad to see you back!!!

  • Hey Tiger! welcome back and bravo!

  • Glad to see that you're back. :-) Excellent! Stil a big fan!!!!!!!!!!! (especially "Solfeggietto" ) Did you finish college yet?

  • @suzielightning3 yup! trying to make it in the "real world" now lol. thanks for sticking around for all this time!

  • @chocotiger Id like to see you play piano sonata No.7 in B.Flat Major op.83 3rd movement. A theme from Gran Turismo. Think you would play it brilliantly, and would be good to see another rendition of it!

  • all joplins songs sound the same

  • @trogfield Not quite. The oom-pah bass varies some, and the melodies have common riffs and themes. If all you hear during that era is Ragtime and you're exposed to all of it plus what you compose, of course the melodies will have similarities. But that's what's nice... It's familiar. I'm quite a fan of melancholic Ragtime, but the compositions are far and few in between the cheery, upbeat, athletic type. Magnetic Rag, Scott Joplin's New Rag and Sunflower Slow Drag are all a little melancholic.

  • You are back!!!! I am one of your biggest fans!! I am not certain if you saw my video on here. It is called robertgetter1 it is the first link. My favorite recording of yours is Bethena. I loved it so much I learned how to play it!

  • Nice Tempo, nice cantabile!!

  • i like it but why be so theaterical

  • @22013 He is still young! Remember you, when you were in his age...thinking of girls all the time

  • @lilataubenei I still think about girls, but I'm not theatricals, Im just a player.

  • Awesome Dude!! I Love It, keep it going!

  • Nicely done. "Magnetic" is one of my favorite Joplin rags.

  • the left hand jumping all the time must have made it hard :) u did an excellent job

  • Man, you play wonderfully! I love to hear your way! Thanks for sharing! Compliments from Brasília, Brasil.

  • Dude, when I hear Joplin pieces you haven't covered yet, I often wonder, "how would chocotiger play this?" Seriously! Somehow you use "just enough" pedal and have a great touch which make your interpretations among the best on YouTube, and even better than those most of those "ragtime specialists" and "scholars"..keep it up! Hope to see more from you this year. :-)

  • groovy, saloon music at its best. but i'd like to see you tackle some more classical music like the mendelssohn :p joplin is entertaining, but a bit one-dimensional in my opinion.

  • Keep kickin' ass, bro.

  • You are my favourite ragtime piano player and you proof this with every single performance!!

  • Well done! It's good to see (and hear) that you haven't lost your touch.

  • Impressive.

    :D

  • very good

  • Mesmorising rendition as always, thank you friend

  • hey, just an idea, and a way to get back into it.. "re-record all those piano songs you did on that electronic keyboard to this yamaha the sound quality alone is worth it... also it would create new videos that more people can enjoy.

  • The only possible rustiness could be in the speed. Bit slow compared to the way they usually play it, but nevertheless great interpretation, I enjoyed it! Waiting for the next :)

  • i started playing 27 years ago, but am nowhere near as good as you ;) Bravo.

  • Rusty? What? Let's see... I heard just about 0 mistakes... and a ton of feeling. What more could come from a great pianist like yourself?

  • This one sounds more classical sometimes, relative to other pieces of Joplin. Perhaps due to some minors.. Actually it's a back and forth between minor being classically solemn and majors being jazzy blithe~~

  • Awesome! Great rhythm on this one.

  • Rusty or not, it's still amazing!

  • your back! you should eventually do all of joplins rags on YT :)

  • Verry Good :)

  • Rusty, but still very good.

  • Maravillosa ejecucion, me gusto mucho.

  • Awesome as you've always been!!

  • Me gusta mucho el Rag

    Gracias.

  • doesnt sound to rusty to me , great vid man

  • Very nice. Gladiolus rag next please~

  • Awesome with great embellishments in the third section. Scott Joplin would be proud of this rendition.

  • You're stainless man.

  • sadly you picked what is probably the most depressing ragtime piece in history

but it was still great and you played it quite smoothly even if you "claim" to be rusty

  • @maverickhunterzerox

    This piece isnt depressing.

  • thumbs up for you dude!! YOUR AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!!

  • Finally A New Video!!!!!!!

  • xD That was awesome!

  • It's always a pleasure to hear you play Joplin. Even rusty as hell, this was a great performance.

  • You call that rusty ?!?
