Where are all the rock stations going? Out of existence....Albini was right. "If this had been a real emergency.....THIS IS A REAL GOD DAMN EMERGENCY!!!"
as a pentecostalist, shellac is the music that brings me closest to christ. steve albini is an honest and good christian who has helped me become, in a word, possessed by jesus. i love you jesus and steve albini and allah.
Doesn't matter whether the audio was ripped from a CD or recorded off of vinyl. It doesn't even matter if it was saved in a PCM format. Being linked to a video and uploaded onto YouTube means it has been converted to a lossy compression format. At this point, the only appreciable difference is probably that one is louder than the other. Other than that, there is surely some excess noise unique to each file that comes from making copies of anything, but that should be negligible.
@chewbee2 I kno, because I'm a musician and I believe in good sound, there is nothing wrong with being an audiophile but there is something wrong with not giving a shit, and this sound on this video proves that you don't care about your sound
If you want to hear 16 year old Shellac stuff today, like At Action Park, check out Cheer-Accident's new record. That song "Blue Cheedle" sounds like it was mutha fuckin' lifted straight off of At Action Park, guitar tone, drum sound and all. And it wasn't even recorded by Steve. He didn't make a dime off it! Of course, they're really super avant-garde douchebags who look down on the 1700s - 1970s sounding symphonic bands that they play with at prog festivals. Überknobs to the max.
Or, perhaps I can put a cadence of this tune in one of my jelly jazz jams. It would fit in nicely after a cadence of afro blue. Yeah, right in between afro blue and dat dere -- gonna play them bass chords (on an upright) and scat out some "can you hear me doobie do wah di doo waka do, now?"
So wait, radio is over? Weird, because the public radio assholes must have totally fleeced me on my donation. Double weird, because classical music seems to be coming out of my HD radio. However, it could be very small musicians inside of the box making that sound. Like a flea orchestra. But it's such a rich sound! Or is radio now dead because there is a digital option? I admit, HD radio sounds like shit compared to analog FM. Yep, that shit roolz and I rock it on my ghetto blaster, negros!
I'd like to find out more about the song writing process that produced this amazing work. Is this improvisational music based on immediately viewed visual scores? If not, do you think I can pick up a score or tablature of this masterpiece so my church gospel band can do a rendition? By the way, what is this song called? Isn't it "Clutching at Straws"? The amazing thing is that they do this without the use of drugs and alcohol. Usually, one has to be shit-faced to produce such brilliance.
@jonvanflan Are you fucking serious? HD radio? You were one of the sheeple that bought into that bullshit! Your opinion of audio quality and credibility with anything even remotely related to anything that makes sounds; from a speak-and-spell to a Gibson SG, is totally fucking invalid. Your other comments about Steve Albini are also bullshit, so just....ummmm....yeah - fade off into obscurity.

complaining about sound effects over a low-bit-rate streaming version of a shellac song is pointless.
