Where beings feel safe and free to be who they want without hurting themselves, others, and the planet. Isn't that the ultimate goal here?
woman and me have different drives naturally due to whats in our natural growth and thinking processes over thousands, even millions, of years. Men can still be good nurses but there isn't sexism because women lean towards nursing more then men. These people that wave the sexism flag are ignorant.
who you crazy people commenting on this video? feminism is not about more power to women. It is about gender equality. Wow the arrogance of the radical feminist mindset. Thousands of years of evolution dismissed, all because it does not fit her agenda. Even raising the subject is off limits to the likes of her.
@appletooth1 I'm a pretty tolerant guy, but if you dare insult that moustache again, I swear to God. . . jk ;-) But seriously, it's an awesome 'stache.
this guy Summers founded this belief in this speech that he observed his daughter refer to the match box cars as mommy car and child car, or something like that. Had to do with personifying the cars and creating a relationship to them and between them.
So I guess men who love their car so much that they refer to it as SHE and the people who wrote the Transformers, the Knight Rider and the Herbie series are women actually.
Oh I forgot Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Christine by John Carpenter.
the term "feminist" makes me ashamed because of how women's groups today act. They complain about dumb shit like the fact that more men are Physicists and high ranking mathematicians, and that road signs that say "men at work" and cost the states mils to change them, while our sisters in foreign countries are being sold as sex slaves to abusive tyrants and young girls are being forced into prostitution. So I agree with mr sweetuth99 even though I'm a girl, modern feminists are idiots
Those are radical feminists. But how many real feminists do you know in real life? I really wonder because if you knew any you would know how great they are as people. Don't confuse the radical feminists with the feminists in general.
How can you not now though? It used to really stand for something, but now its just dwindled down to nothing. I guess the only feminists I've ever meet were the extremes that you talk about. I would welcome the chance to meet one that stood for something real. I've yet to find any though. The definition of "feminist" has gotten so extreme I don't know if even you or I would fit it anymore
Those are radical Nazis. But how many real nazis do you know in real life? I really wonder because if you knew any you would know how great they are as people. Don't confuse the radical Nazis with the nazis in general.
Funny, how no other group deserves this sort of distinction between radical and non-radical ... Also, the non-radical faction also seems perfectly silent against the radicals.. thus giving tacit approval to everything they do in the name of feminism.
Jesus fucking Christ, are you going to try and argue that a few loser tribes, that make up less than .01% of all mammals, putting females in hunter roles and men in nuturing rules proves that women aren't naturally inclined to nurturing roles and men to hunter/provider roles?
radical feminsts are, but regular feminsts arent. feminsts believe that women have equal rights, which doesn't mean men and women are the same, but if a woman decides to run for office, lets just say for vice president for example, she should be protected from people who degrade her based on the fact that she is a woman i.e. (Sarah Palin). For example, people thought Sarah was just a dumb woman who says dumb things, but yet Barrack Obama said we had 57 states and we should "Spread the Wealth"
Um, no, Sarah Palin is an amoral idiot with a sub-par education. She has stolen and subverted rights at a frighteningly obvious level, flaunting her stupidity as if it was a virtue and making no secret of her crimes. Her banning of books from her local library is just one of the things I'm pissed about. I know others have done things just as wrong, but none of them stood in the spotlight and tried to garner my attention. SHE IS DUMB, as dumb as Bush. How's that for equality?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually, that nuturing part is not entirely true. Although women in this country tend to be the nutures in other countries indigenous nomad tribes have the men be the nutures and the women hunt. In Thailand there are villages where men are raised to be nuturers and look and act just like women. John Stossel forgot to take into account that our society tends to raise women as nuturers by giving them baby dolls that you have to take care of and doll houses that simulate raising a family.
Source please. Nearly every single primitive society that we have come across has placed males in a hunter role and females in a nurturer/gatherer role.
Some tribes in Africa, just a few, have switched the standard gender roles. Also, the people in Thailand have not only switched the gender roles, they've created an extra one. And no, it's not in the cities where everything is weird, it's in the suburbs where people stick to their culture and traditions. And people like you always ask for sources. I don't know them off the top of my head. This just stuff I learned over time. You look it up if you're so interested.
Why don't they look for the info themselves if they're so interested? They're like, if I don't agree with something than it's wrong unless you can prove otherwise, but I still won't listen anyway. It's kind of like religion in the sense that believers think that they're right and everyone else is wrong. Then they challenge the others to prove them wrong and when they do they still won't listen. If they were open to it they'd look for it themselves but they won't. That's why I don't give sources.
Dude, I last discussed this issue over three months ago. I don't even care about it anymore. If you're looking for a debate, it has long passed. Besides, it's not even that big a deal. Who cares?
Exceptions don't make rules bro, everyone can point to a few shitty tribes who use sticks that have men as nurturers and females as hunters. That's probably why these tribes are still primitive. A vast majority of human societies and social mammals have females as nurturers.
They're not exceptions. They're just different and just because they are that way doesn't mean that they are stuck being primitive. There are plenty of tribes where females nuture and men hunt that are still primitive. The advancement of society doesn't work that. way. It has to do with the availability of resources.
Isn't your statement proof that men and women differ in skills from birth? These tribes you speak of aren't well developed and modern. Comparing them to other cultures, you could consider them a "failure." Those cultures are successful because they were not effective.
Equal outcome is bull crap. Equal opportunity however is a worthy goal. Men and women are different. There are rich and poor people. There are black and white people. Government can't and shouldn't make these differences disappear. Government should only be concerned with those differences that are artificially created to suppress rights. Equal outcome is not the same as equal opportunity, don't let people confuse you.
Towards the end of the video, John Stossel protests people with law degrees using force to compel their views about men and women on others.
Yet, earlier in the video, he endorses the practice of judges (people with law degrees
) using force (the power of the family courts) to impose their views about men and women on others, namely by embracing the myth of women being superior and more needed parents to disenfranchise the rights of fathers to raise their own children.
I absolutely agree with you! The thing is that I want near me a strong woman, because I am a strong man. I want someone who is independent and think for herself! You know, I wouldn't mind having kids and doing half of that "dirty" work. LOL I do have a lot of practice - 3 nephews. :D
You make some good points, but spend too much time attacking the imperfections of feminists, and not enough time arguing for "equality of opportunity". Since this is probably the primary goal of most feminists, particularly in a liberal population.
I think the issue here is of misplaced emphasis, not of opposing goals.
Feminist like Steinem would never admit there are equal rights, makes them irrelevant.Like with Al Shapton, racial harmony is the last thing he wants. He makes a living off racism, even creating it when its not there.
Just finished Give Me A Break, one of the most brilliant and sensible books Ive ever read.Checked it out at my local library, but will buy my own copy for reference.Everything in it makes sense.Keep fighting for true freedom.
John, youre a voice of reason in an ocean of myths, lies and downright stupidity. What happened to common sense and logic,in this country?Did we ever have it?
yes, we had it. Then the federal reserve system & subsequent foundation for income tax to use bones to throw @ people in exchange for votes was created....
I thought the gender equality issue died with the rest of the utopianist nonsense that came out the 60's. We went through a period where environment was considered the only relevant factor. If we could create the ideal environment, we could create the perfect citizen; free of racism, sexism, etc. Well, environment is critical, but genes are just as important. I'm increasingly skeptical of ideology and vote for politicians who are pragmatists.
Good points, Stossel, and absolutely correct reasoning for no government-enforced *gender-based* quotas. But, in cases of individual discrimination, a different set of questions are relevant.
If the measured talent for a particular type of work differs on average by 5% based on gender, but the standard deviation for the same talent is approximately 20% in both genders, what are the odds that gender bias is any good in evaluating any individual's ability to work in that field?
We couldn't agree more Stossel. Sorry the masses are sheep and follow whatever the mainstream shows them to follow. I am a woman, and I want to be myself. If that means being an amazing mother and wife, and raising future Americans to thrive in our nation, then so be it! It's what I do best, because I'm a woman. People should be able to do whatever they are good at. And we have laws stating just that! That doesn't mean I CANNOT raise a happy household. It means I have the choice to!
I feel part of the problem in our country is we are not allowed to hire the best person. One job interview I had I drove 100mi. in a blizard and even slid off the road. I called later on and the CEO told me I was no. 1 but they had to hire a woman. I applied for employment with Vocational Reahb. I and another counselor with 20 years experience were passed over for a 25 year old woman who never worked in her life and didn't even have a licence.
In 1996 a strudy was done by the Supreme Court to prove that the copurts were not biased against men. It was done by a feminist group and imediately placed under "secret" and it took a law sute from a Fathers For Justice group to get it released and in spit of the totally feminist group it showed courts had a clear bias against men/fathers.
Wow, Is John still alive? I use to write letters in the paper about this. I was assulted in court by the head of NOW. Women called and said I was dead. Women would drive by and throw used diapers in my yard.
No feminists actually say men and women are EXACTLY the same. This is pure garbage
