I played on eays mode, so I was very bad at this game. I didn't have much ammo and then I had to fight against him. I took the striker and shot all my ammo haha :D

I've found this glitch too. If you have the PS2 version of RE 4, just try to walk slowly, after SAVING(!), to the cell with regenerator. If you have luck, the creature doesn't attack you and the glitch is done!
