The Ponzi scheme Fed stole $8.4 TRILLION from the auctions of Treasury securities last year. Congress never asked about it. It is embezzlement. Ref. 3w scribd dot com message 49040689.
I was an ideological democrat most of my younger years of voting.... lost every election. Then Clinton became President; within 90 days I realized that politics fixes nothing. Maybe the dialogue changes' but blaming partisan opposition is too common a habit. I'd rather have the means to build a fortune than beg for bread.
@makemap Who are the mega corps using to do all this stealing. You don't have to look any farther than a government. Governments are firmly in the pockets of Mega Corps because governments have way too much power. Look up East India Co. as one cause of the American Revolution. Mercantilism and tax payers being expected to bail out East India was a factor in the revolt.
@libertyfizz You don't believe in liberty! You don't deserve a constitutional republic, if you believe in mob rule! A republic is a set of readable simple laws to protect the rights of the individual! They are natural rights you fucking fascist pig!!
Democracy fails because it relies on people getting everything they want. but if theyre getting everything they want (somewhat of an exageration) then who's giving it? the government? the government cant even support themselves in the US. we're over $13,000,000,000 in debt.
I used to believe in the difference our spread of democracy would engender. I was there when Afghanistan had its first historical election, and I congratulated myself for being a part of history, and a big "Stick-it, anti-war surrender-monkeys!" but I've come to see the reality of things. You're right. An enlightened rule of law must be established, and how can we do that in a short period of time without imposing puppet governments? Especially now when our own government is uncontrollable?
@libertyfizz Oi, fuck you buddy, we do want to goddam work but all your mega-corporations are sending the fucking factories to goddam india and china. A country's economy just can't run on the service industry you know. People in these nations want to work. And what the hell makes Americans so differant. Watch your talk shows like Maury or something, yeah Im sure their hard working with 15 kids and living off child benefits. don't act high and mighty
@SuperGareth007 You didn't get my meaning at all. I was replying that the handout mentality isn't just limited to third world countries. Socialist countries all develop a population that increasingly gains a handout mentality. Don't you worry the USA is becoming a socialist country as you pointed out. The USA just hasn't gotten that reputation yet. There are loads of first world socialist countries I could have added to my post but it would have lost the punchline effect.
@SuperGareth007 You made a very good point about industrial jobs going offshore; what places like the US need are TARIFFS to reindustrialize the country.
You will notice that "conservatives" not only want to shrink government, they're also, now, all of a sudden, FREE TRADERS!!!
I remember when Barbie doll clothes were made by UNION LABOR in Massachusetts and Mattel MADE A PROFIT on them but they make MORE profit by using Chinese labor, which is precisely why they're in favor of free trade.
@SuperGareth007 the chinese and indians are making their own businesses. Sure it looks like that at first, but afterwords people in their own lands after investment from the west control their own economies. In the 18th century the dutch and english went to american to start businesses.
@SuperGareth007 They work harder in third world, socialism and labor unions have taken your jobs killed the industries of the great united states! Ron Paul 2012!
Its better then the government holding ALL the power? At least there's competition and voter regulation in democracy. Our form of government is very simple and not ideological...
I have to disagree here. The story of the pump is of coruse striking and convincing but too simplisitic. A community can solve a problem of pump, yes, but what about more complex issues. Anyway, when the community is able to solve every problem themself they automatically become an independent government. The Mali government is an example of a bad government; in case of a responsible government privatization is not needed.
I also agree with the general jist of your argument but also agree with the poster below that governments should be included. After all, somethings cannot be accomplished by a single individual alone, they required the actions of an organized group (government, Knight of Columbus etc.) The other concern, is when you encourage people to use their ingenuity to further themselves. This discounts the jerks of society. Those who don't care about others, have an advantage in a free for all system.
Agree with all except one - Governments should be included. Why keep them out? Don't expect them to do everything for you but if they're to help then take it.
Prof. Munger ran for Governor in my state. I voted for him. Frankly, I don't think he should be Governor, he should be President! At least he can still rally the troops for personal freedom.
Great speech and video. Puts the idea of "making the world safe for democracy" in perspective and makes you wonder what the real motive of the major parties is when talking about how important the "democratic process" is.
Somewhat amusing stories audio a little choppy. Worth watching an interesting take on political democracy vs. private voluntary democracy. Meanings which seem lost on westerners nowadays.

Dude, a Monetary System + Democracy, I mean what the f$%# are people thinking?
We've been through this colonialism war during the past, it's happens to have started but this time it's the Mega Corps who are stealing the lands.

Its because in the third world nobody wants to work and they just want to milk off others. I've been places I'd know....

You mean like in Canada or the United Kingdom?
libertyfizz 2 years ago
haha
But no in all seriousness. It seems like all poor countries do have a sort of "hand out" attitude.

@libertyfizz dont worry - that handout mentality comes along with lower crime rates, which increases quality of life.

What about the situations where large private enterprises grow into something more powerful than the government? How is that working out?

Democracies equate to mob rule and endanger individual liberties, rights and freedom. That is why we have a Republic, not a democracy.
