I love these, either Nazi sympathizers or USA & UK wannabe historians, who have been spoon-fed lies about communism their whole lives and about Russia are still . They show only documentaries about how the glorious USA fought 10% of the German forces & japs. UK & other countries fought the other 10%. They are biased via western documentaries and teachings. Not showing the truth about the heroism of Russians and suffering too. These series are first non-biased about eastfront wehre 80% of ww2 was

mnpd007: I suggest you read a little more history. The anti-aircraft fire over Moscow was extremely intensive and German bombers had difficulties with anti-aircraft fire they had not experienced in the West. Incidentally, I'm a professor of European history, and if you wish, I will gladly give you some primary source monographs which substantiate this fact. By the way, congratulations on your interest in historical research. Being informed is crucial to democratic governance.
@mnpd007 I think by the other responses, in addition to mine, makes it clear your historiography is a bit weak. Take it as constructive criticism and avoid silly, unproductive, and defensive responses. You'r e quite capable of research.
Not so hard to be heroes when NKVD machinguns are at your back making sure you don't come back. This series is interesting because it is so different. Unfortunately, the more you know about history the more critical you are. My jaw dropped when the series showed a fictional air battle for Moscow which was equal to the Battle of Britain, with a thousand anti-aircraft guns, dozens of bombers being shot down in one flyover... pure fiction!
@mnpd007 What do you mean with "Battle of Britain"?! Are you kidding me?! There were no battles in Britain! The Brits did only hiding their little asses on their little island! LOL Seriously, you should inform you better before making such ignorant comments.
sorry to spoil your imagination but every theater in WW2 was secondary compared to the Eastern Front...and yes also the air war. The Nazis lost the majority of their aircraft there. Moscow and Leningrad had such a density of AA guns that the cities were kept largely intact.
In this episode says that the russians fought the foreign legion.... I didnt know that there was any units of the FL fighting in Russia. I even looked on Wikipedia and I couldnt confirm that.... is that really true?!
yeah, I'm aware of that. SS Panzer Division "Wiking" is a clear example of that. It was composed mainly by volunteers from Scandinavia. But I never heard about the foreign legion fighint in Russia. If anybody could embase those claims with some sources I would be glad.
@aml1ma There was the air regiment “Normandie Niemen”. All pilots in this regiment were French volunteers. In addition, there were military units staffed with Poles.
There are a lot of people in Russia who respect Stalin. All Russians understand that good and bad he has done and consider that he was Great man for Russia.
Where to seen monster Stalin? this is your biased opinion based on the western propaganda that does not stop now! This was after a hard time if he did not take difficult decisions, the country would have been destroyed, its resources would have got the Nazis, that's when you really seen a monster ...
@zipmantube Well... To argue with Stalin's fanclub is pointless. So I don't. But my uderstanding of Stalin and his regin is based on books like:"Архипелаг ГУЛАГ", "Ледокол", " День «М»", "Последняя республика", "Святое дело"and "Верный Руслан". So in my humble opinion other monsters look like teaddy bears next to him. But to some degree I understand this"respect".Timur is worishiped in Uzbekistan and Genghis Khan have godlike status in Mongolia. Thier achievements? Milions of deaths.
Chamberlain, Daladier here is truly horrible people untied the hands of Hitler and the Nazis for aggression against other countries. These people and the Government of France and Britain to blame for the 27 million dead Soviet citizens and soldiers. Compared to them, Comrade Stalin, the Lamb of God!
What is terrible Comrade Stalin? Under the leadership of Comrade Stalin's country for 30 years has made an industrial leap, won in this terrible war, restore the war-ravaged country and conquered space.
a great documentary... Cant really understand why is it so pro Stalin... This guy had most generals executed... Why this is not mentioned...? Why are Ruskis still on the note of "the good guy had all the ranks and honors restored.." ? lol
@cuttock I am sorry. Anyway this is not your fault. Many of today's so-called historians (both in Russia and in the West) just copy statements from Nazi propaganda in their works on Stalin's politics, by thinking they are objective. Or for some other reasons. Stalin definetely wasn't a good guy, but all his faults are greatly exaggerated.
No, that's alright. I am very Pro- Russian/Soviet people. I respect the suffering and sacrifices of the Russian and Soviet peoples during World War II. The whole nation were heroes, and saved the world from the Nazi scum. I am reading a book now called "Deathride", it is critical of Stalin, and rightly so. He was terrible to his people. And his paranoia and behaviour led to many mistakes and suffering in World War II. I know the bullshit Nazi and Allied propaganda, and I reject it.
Yes, but if you were trying to refute my statement, you did not show a valid argument against it. What you did was to back up my statement, because Stalin justified the means for the end. Yes, I know, he did what he had to do. But that does not change the truth. No question he was serious, brilliant, great, powerful, maybe even necessary. But a he was a terrible man.
@OSCAR1777 no way russians talkin about stalin as a dictator who made alot of mistakes and provocatin alot of deaths! in this moovie they dont make him good or bad.

Stalin was a serious man.
Imagine a country with 2 revolutions 1 bloody civil war. A country without industry, rounded by imperialists(Japan, USA, Germany, Britain).
Imagine FIRST IN THE WORLD FULL SOCIALISTIC STATE OF WORKERS AND PEASANTS !
Imagine threat of Trotsky.
USSR - is a ideological threat to capitalists countries. They want to destroy us.
Words of Stalin: we must industrialize our country in 10 years or we will be smashed - and he was right.
