I Saw Abysmal Dawn, Origin, and 6 Feet Under July 19th, all these bands destroyed!!! I was able to take a pic with Scott and get some killer footage of him playing. Awesome dude!!!! Thanx Sickdrummer for posting all these badass videos
Goddamn, all I hear is PRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, then a breather and I think the apocolypse is over, then PRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! <----that noise is supposed to be you rolling your r's, btw.
all the fucking queers complaining about triggers they do not add speed or "cheat" it merely keeps the sound at an even level stop your bitching or change your musical tastes because most metal bands use them and im sure if you couldnt hear the drums at your favorite bands concert you would cry again! toughen the fuck up you bunch of crybabys
Regardless of bass drum triggers, this guy is as solid as a rock. I would suspect the triggers are only being used to get a punchier, more cutting bass drum sound in a big venue rather than cover up any sort of disparities or weaknesses in playing.
@mattwalker21 this is the ONE and ONLY goal triggers are made for, they don't cover up any disparities nor weaknesses, in fact they highlight them, so please stop being IGNORANT guys, everyone's sick of this useless "debate".
@sexypoulpe Setting the trigger sample to the same volume regardless of striking velocity can cover inconsistencies in playing volume. That is certainly a disparity that could be "fixed". Sample triggering isn't always used to hide playing inconsistencies but it definitely can be used to do so.
It also may be used for editing purposes (quantization software or manually moving waveforms). It also is often used to replace acoustic sounds. This can be viewed both positively or negatively.
@mattwalker21 Of course this one point depends on the drummer abilities, but you certainly know that, regarding the laws of physics, that more you hit fast, less you hit hard, so that can not really seen as a disparity imo at very high tempos.
Yes this can be viewed negatively or positively, but again this deals with the sound and not the drummer's skill.
@sexypoulpe I would slightly consider it a disparity only because the sample that is triggered at these fast tempos, where one's unable to play at a high volume, is sometimes at a volume like the player's stomping on the pedal as hard as he can. It's presenting a relative balance of volume that is inaccurate to what's going on acoustically.
With that said, a devil's advocate in this conversation might further that argument against using mics, amplifiers, and even guitar distortion effects.
@mattwalker21 yes of course, for me it's kinda the same problem. So triggers that are needed for fast tempos are like an extension of mics to me (only a tool which permits to sound good)
@mattwalker21 Honestly, they could be, but have you ever really heard of anybody that had poor double bass and used triggers solely for the purpose of sounding better? Almost anybody that is going to be playing at a professional level, especially at extreme tempos like 260+ bpm, will have foot technique that is entirely adequate, even if playing at speeds like that is always going to be pretty quiet.
Also, the videos on your channel are fantastic. Gonna work some of those into my practicing.
Its better to buy a doublepedal, cause you can convert it into two singles if needed. Its not cool having two singles and only one bassdrum at a gig. :D
And youre not playing 50 bpm faster just because you have a pair of Axis under your feet! ;)
I played Pearl Eliminators before i switched to Axis A's. I needed a couple weeks to get used to them.
You want two Axis A Longboards? I don't live in the UK (Netherlands here). Stopped playing em, an Axis doublepedal conversion kit is too expensive imo. I switched back to a single bassdrum. Msg me if you're interested ;)
That's mah niggah right there.
