Those who say it isn't a sport just doesn't understand the complete bliss that comes with competing side by side with your best friend. Taking the wins the loss and the falls together are all amazing experiences that will live with someone forever.
This is just a few of the reasons why I respect these amazing riders
This was a good video. I do hope they change the scoring with the three day eventing to help prevent injuries to both horse and rider. So many of these cross country accidents are rider error from a dressage horse that no longer thinks for itself. I applaud all those brave enough to do this sport but I will still to barrel racing, and working cows where my horse is allowed to save itself if it must.
You fall off, you get up check out your horse and if everything is alright, give it a pat and get back on, try again. Ya gotta fall to learn what you did wrong sometimes .

There was two people one was a horse rider the other was a runner.
The runner challenged the rider to a 95 mile endurance race to prove that riding was easy, At the end of the race the rider and his horse were fine and the runners house was fine, but the runner had died from exhaustion (true story).
Horse riding isnt just a sport to any true equestrian lover..........its a way of life and i know there are risks but its like any drug.......almost impossible to give up! horse riding is the only drug im ever going to need! I owe every tihng to horses! XX

Horses and riding is easy? just tell people your stories of some pretty close calls. I got pinned against a wall, and kicked at by a pony who didn't like to be tacked up, I've been trodden on by a huge cob, kicked by another, fallen under a horse on a hack, grabbed onto an electric fence while falling, been dragged into an electric fence by yet another cob, bruised my hip bone, been bitten, and crushed against walls....yet I still love them and adore them despite all of that.
@ ilyXstar Lol Yeah I do,they werent all falls though, I think a lot of them were when my feet were on the ground! lol and that's not everything that has happened, there's SO much more. lol the cob that dragged me into the electric fence, also dragged me into a metal door, and my own horse tried to kick me while he was on box rest.....so I forgave him for that. lol!
haha i have not had that many falls in my years of riding but i have had some pretty epic ones! i hav broken my arm falling, i have been bucked right into a metal fence and i have been thrown onto my horses neck and fell at a full gallop about 7 seconds later! i have learned that horses are powerful.....even at 20 years old!

Horses in general, My Bailey was a TB, but I think I've ridde more Cob's than any other breed. They're just like rocking chairs, so comfy! lol! Lol I've never had to the luck to land on my feet. lol! you're very lucky.
i fell off whilst riding. fell straight under her feet and couldnt walk in a straight line for a week. lol. it hurt alot but i now know wat to do in that situation. u learn the quirks of a horses nature much better if you fall off them a few times.
in other words, falling off hurts but your better off in the long run :)

well people that do fall off, often have more experience and can say "when u fall off just get back on" and take that experience to push them even further...you have to fall off sometime other wise you wont gain a new insight into horse ridding, people cant teach you about falling off and getting back on. i feel sorry for you, honestly.

I've been riding horses for ten years my horse weighs in at about if not more 1500 lbs he's 17.3 hands high, and it pisses me off so much when people say its easy to ride a horse, and btw horseback riding is considered an extreme sport by insurance companies due to how dangerous it is.

i just got back from a huge argument with a "friend" of mine who just told me TRACK is harder than riding a horse. "all you do is sit on the animal and it pulls you around" (^#%^T&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is what i said back to him! I HATE when people say that stuff. Horse back riding is a sport. In fact it it the hardest sport i have ever know of. I've done gymnastics, softball, track, etc... But NOTHING is as hard and rewarding as this right here.
I do track and horseback riding and they both are harder than they seem. Everyone thinks horseback riding is just sitting on a horse and everyone thinks track is just running. Whatever. We know the truth.
Yes i understand track is a lot harder than it seems. I did a little bit a while ago. But i don't think just because you don't do a sport and don't understand it, means you can go and say your sport is harder and that sport stinks.
Team or individual- Riding is BOTH, so I consider it even more a sport than other where it's one or the other. Rider and horse are a team, but you still have to work on your individual skills and strength.
Competition- Is riding an Olympic sport? Are there national and local competitions for all kinds of riding disciplines? Check.
Riding is a sport. People need to get over that. It's a sport and always will be.
Sport- An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Physical exertion- Am I sweating after a strenuous riding exercise even in winter? Check.
Skill- Can someone who has never ridden before make it over a 3'6" jump without falling off or getting injured, especially in a jump-off, score perfect on a level 4 dressage test, stay on while the horse whips around barrels? No. Skill needed? Check.
Riding ain't even close to being easy. I just started riding western after english. {awesome!} It gonna take a long time getting used to the saddle XP
Everyone I know says that riding is easy. They say that it shouldn't be considered a sport because all it is is sitting on a horse. I wish I could put them on a horse and send them off galloping and jumping. They wouldn't think it was so easy then. XD Riding takes all these skills, plus a great bond of trust with your horse, balance and strength are really important too. I love this video because it's exactly what I've been saying all along.
Lilly someone annoy at my barn has her toes down and just bounces around in the saddle and got all 3rd places but the egg and spoon rofl she got 2nd on that brags about how good she is and says it so easy and that day she fell off...and she said it was easy GOSH!

Thanks!!!!!!! I almost had a riding accident!!!!!!! I told my trainer that I needed to lounge my horse and she said, NO!!!!!!!! My horse did spook, but the amazing thing is as I kicked out of the stirrups so when I would fall I WOULD NOT BE DRAGGED, I went one way and my horse another, MY HORSE TURNED AROUND AND PICKED ME UP SO I WOULD NOT FALL!! I was actually out of the saddle!!!!!!!!

hehe one of my guy frinds wanted 2 ride my hoss, with spurs. i got bolted on w/ his horse, and he tried to get leo to run after me, but when he kicked him, leo sat down, no lie. i was alright, but heath wasnt. when he went 2 get off, leo got up and started bucking. i thot it was funny cuz he said my horse was old and lazy. he learned.

Horse riding is an extreme sport because if the horse kicked you you could die if the horse bucked you could badly injurer your self
if the horse stepped on your toes it could brake your foot (or just REALLYYYYYYYYYY badly hurt it)

well people that do fall off, often have more experience and can say "when u fall off just get back on" and take that experience to push them even further...you have to fall off sometime other wise you wont gain a new insight into horse ridding, people cant teach you about falling off and getting back on. i feel sorry for you, honestly.

I've been riding horses for ten years my horse weighs in at about if not more 1500 lbs he's 17.3 hands high, and it pisses me off so much when people say its easy to ride a horse, and btw horseback riding is considered an extreme sport by insurance companies due to how dangerous it is.

i just got back from a huge argument with a "friend" of mine who just told me TRACK is harder than riding a horse. "all you do is sit on the animal and it pulls you around" (^#%^T&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is what i said back to him! I HATE when people say that stuff. Horse back riding is a sport. In fact it it the hardest sport i have ever know of. I've done gymnastics, softball, track, etc... But NOTHING is as hard and rewarding as this right here.

Team or individual- Riding is BOTH, so I consider it even more a sport than other where it's one or the other. Rider and horse are a team, but you still have to work on your individual skills and strength.
Competition- Is riding an Olympic sport? Are there national and local competitions for all kinds of riding disciplines? Check.
Riding is a sport. People need to get over that. It's a sport and always will be.

Skill- Can someone who has never ridden before make it over a 3'6" jump without falling off or getting injured, especially in a jump-off, score perfect on a level 4 dressage test, stay on while the horse whips around barrels? No. Skill needed? Check.

Everyone I know says that riding is easy. They say that it shouldn't be considered a sport because all it is is sitting on a horse. I wish I could put them on a horse and send them off galloping and jumping. They wouldn't think it was so easy then. XD Riding takes all these skills, plus a great bond of trust with your horse, balance and strength are really important too. I love this video because it's exactly what I've been saying all along.

Thanks!!!!!!! I almost had a riding accident!!!!!!! I told my trainer that I needed to lounge my horse and she said, NO!!!!!!!! My horse did spook, but the amazing thing is as I kicked out of the stirrups so when I would fall I WOULD NOT BE DRAGGED, I went one way and my horse another, MY HORSE TURNED AROUND AND PICKED ME UP SO I WOULD NOT FALL!! I was actually out of the saddle!!!!!!!!

to ride a horse you dont just sit there and let the horse do all the work....you have a just as important part in every thing as the horse does....you have to trust the horse and the horse has to trust you.....i think that is the most important part in riding because if there is no trust you will never get anything done right and its not fair to the horse to have to do all that just to get hurt or yelled at....i hate it when people say riding isnt a sport its just like SHUT UP!!! great vid!!! =)
