Us kids used to play this flip side all the time during the Summer of '70 on the beach, wow what a flashback ! We had this old RCA 45 player our neighbor Ethel gave us, you know the small square brown player from the 50's with a permanent tube built into the middle to load your 45's? I think they used to throw them in free when you bought a new RCA TV back in the '50's. What a treat hearing this song after almost 40 years !
It's been a while since you posted this comment. You mentioned using the old record player on the beach...where did you plug it in? Was it battery powered?
This was Tommy's 15th of 22 1962-73 hits. It came right between "Heather Honey" and "Jam Up and Jelly Tight." "Jack and Jill" charted7-19-69 and peaked at #53 over a 13 week hit parade run.
The salesman at Treachers records in Vancouver, B.C. didn't have what I was looking for, so he pointed at a box full of throw aways on sale cheap. Memories....what a life.
Ahh...the correct version. You can't beat that good mono sound from those 45's. I hate how most cd compilations are the crummy stereo versions of songs. When we heard them on the radio they were the single versions like you have here. I have about a dozen of Tommy Roe's 45's and they are all good songs.
My dad had alot of his records.

We lived on the beach, our house was and
still is on the beach. Winter storms used to toss logs over the sea wall and onto our
front yard. We used an outdoor extension cord for the record player and radio. Thanks for asking.

This was my very first self bought record.
I think I was 10 years old at the time.

This reminds me of the roller skating rink I used to go to back in Jr High in the early 70s. Love this song!

This is great; never heard this one before. It didn't get airplay out here in Los Angeles.

Good record, and actually sort of a "protest" song about trendiness and peer group pressure.

I agree. I love the original 45s, with songs just like you heard them on the radio.

Tommy Roe is a very under appreciated artist from the 60s and 70s. He released some of the best pop records of that era.

Under appreciated by whom? Who are they? I wanna know. :-)

The song is good, but really, what is most impressive is that you videotaped your stereo playing a 45. Utterly cool.
