im 17 i was raised on folk, the music envelopes me even to this day. At my school, i spread the old songs and new to the people who want to listen to the true history of the United States. the history the communists anarchists socialists dissidents and activists fought to make, and many times died to make. thats why i love folk. because it taught me to be an american and more about being american than any teacher.

i am 61 and my uncle harold leventhal was the manager of pete seeger/ woody guthrie and weavers and many in the folk era when it was unpopular to do so----so long live the folk era and independent thought---

@blackout15243 well, music is an expression, and whether we agree with what someone is expressing, there's always someone who will. i personally don't mind dubstep and other types of electronic music. rap is the problem though :D

@blackout15243 Not really cz i like Motorhead Hawkwind Throbbing Grist;e The Beatles Peter Tosh Mozart Simon and Garfunkle Jimi Hendrix loads more different genres of music and Pete Seeger and all my friends like all different genres too so an eclectic musical taste is not strange it is actually the norm but keep on liking widen your tastes and you will find music so much more fulfilling.

I Don't know if you have heard of Harvey Andrews, He's a folk singer from the 70s who is pretty good. I saw him once in Germany and really enjoyed myself.
