Great biopic!! Sam Riley as Ian Curtis is a very good choice! He did a great job. Joe Anderson who played Hooky in Control is my favourite choice to play the lead role in the upcoming Kurt Cobain biopic. And Toby Kebbell to play Dave Grohl. I've made a fictional film cover of the upcoming biopic. It serves as a casting suggestion. Check out my channel to watch the video...
sam riley was like a man possessed, he totally inhabited the role and soul of ian curtis, what a truely unique and exceptional perfomance and film, an amazing tribute to a legend, and a fitting one too.
It wasn´t an opinion, it was an observation. That´s ok, but there is so much going on that an observation about production details makes no sense and at the same time is wrong
Well, they wanted to portray Ian as authenthic as possible. So obviously, Mr Riley TRIED to act like Ian Curtis. I bet if Sam Riley hadn't done this, you would have said: "Ugh, but Ian was completely different than Riley portrays him." or something like that.
But well, you folks always look for something to complain on, eh? Lameness.
If this IDIOT (Actor) had FELT 1/3 rd of the emotions that Ian went through while he was singing he would have DIED of FEAR in the set!!! Morons , Ian cannot be interpreted by someone who is sane!!! Ian was ill and this goofy actor doesn't have a clue of what is to feel anxious and helpless...Control is about the emotional states of Ian and his battle to overcome his inner demons... to CONTROL them.
Parlourcr...I understand being protective of Ian - this obviously is a fictualized account. BUT, for a fictualized account, the main actor did an amazing job at portraying Ian. In fact, all the actors did of their respective parts; the movie was well type-cast.
We could all say overly dramatic things, but you've got to give credit where it's due. Sam Reilly did a great job.
gordgraff... I totally agree with you, they all did a great job, but the fact is that actors are only imitators no matter how hard they try, they cannot be a mirror for us to look into the tormented soul of an artist or a poet and they still lack the geniune touch of the creative souls that they all desperately trying to imitate, but I have to be honest they all did an excellent job in this movie.
Try to imagine all the actors that played Mozart, Beethoven...or Kurt Cobain. True artists cannot be reproduced on set or on film, biographic movies are (in my humble opinion gordgraff) a total waste of time and money.
ps3sucksassballs is an interesting name that I wouldn't have used in a social network like you tube...everyone has the right to say and express their feelings and thoughts...even the retarded ones I suppose.
Haven't watched this movie, but after watching this segment and some of the actual live footage of this band...the actor did a fucking awesome portrayal of Ian.
But hey...that's just my opinion.
I wonder if it's possible to pick up this flick in the states or Canada.
we're joy division; you're the crowd. goodnight. godbless.

wasn't the singer an epileptic & thats why he danced funny but the fans thought it was so cool.
uncreativeranter 2 years ago
He actually danced like that before he was diagnosed with epilepsy. It had nothing to do with his condition, but it was ironic.
