  • you could not be more wrong in what you are saying ahaha

  • goof

  • Damn! You have a low threshold for excitement. What do you do on a Saturday night, play with Legos?

  • We all should have known better than to go here. When someone calls their own video "Amazing", you know they're messed up. Best part was the dog reminding him of the website. I've played a midi keyboard in a little band for a while. It is soooo much cooler than this. Pros use midi keyboards and guitars all the time. It's music synthesis. Midi samples are what you hear when you play a keyboard at Best Buy or wherever. The sound is usually quite beautiful. This guy is a complete newbie.

  • Damn it...sorry I was just pissed I came across another pointless video on youtube

  • ahahaa

  • where is link?

  • this is awesome.

  • midi music, game music from gameboy etc - how is this genre called anyway? can somebody tell me?

    thanks

  • What's not to like about this guy?!

He looks like something off the original Mario Brothers!

    Geeky, and cool.

  • nerd

  • i really tried, but i just can't not hate this guy.

  • Wow, MIDI really destroys classic music.

  • I'm pretty sure whatever he was saying is interesting, but that is a hot-ass nerd.

  • That program frightens me.

  • I thought you were playing with your pee pee too much.

  • and the snauzberries taste like snauzberries!

  • @bhoywhonder2000 because it uses shitty windows GS tables. My old SoundBlaster sounds a lot better. MT-32 is even nicer.

  • When this guy smiles he looks like a buck toothed beaver. Nice vid I might try midi.

  • BIRDHOUSE IN YOUR SOUL!

  • funny shit i wonder what my midis would be like on that program

  • sheup stupi

  • 8-bit midi is the best!

  • lol you should buy a life ...

  • Is he high?

  • dont mind the haters. thats pretty cool ^^

  • придурок....

  • Its really, really REALLY not.

  • Why dont I find this even remotely cool?

  • I think that song isn't on you tube yet

  • OMG there is no point dont watch very very very uncool!

  • So dork.

  • We need to do a nerd intervention on this guy!

  • you stayed up all day for that........sorry but that is kind of sad

  • it would be good if the guy dint talk forever and that song dint sound hafe gay

  • ...poor boy!!

  • but it still has the typical GM midi sound...

  • midi od sctusly s system wich consists of synthesizers, computers drum machines connected to eachother to play different digital instruments.

it seems much cheaper to create music that way then on actual instruments.

like i can orgenize a hich $ orchest to make a orchest song.

or make a orchest song with just midi wich seems cheaper!!??

  • copyright won't allow me to post any on youtube but myriad's melody assistant's virtual singer, sings mid and kar files with lyrics and using mimic, Daz studio or iClone you can have animated singers! I bought a Poser pz2 midi piano from Renderosity that even virtually plays them like midijam.

  • MIDI is still commonplace used, and last I checked, it's "Musical Istrument Database Interface" or something, or that's what we're taught at college. Infact, MIDI is basicly what alot of shit stems from, yeah, we DON'T use those horrible sounds this guy uses. We use them to trigger are own sound that we created in a different software, I'm pretty sure alot of House, dance and Hip Hop started off as MIDI. Even if it was just recorded in through a controller. >.>

  • Your college is wrong. Like Lockergnome says in the video MIDI stands for "Musical Instrument Digital Interface". It was originally designed as a communication protocol to allow different brands of synthesizers, drummachines, and computer sequencers to communicate together. The low quality samples nowadays associated with MIDI, really have nothing to do with the protocol it self, but rather with de software instruments playing the MIDI files.

  • hahaha. This dude's on some serious medication, its like all his dreams come true.

I've got a singing plastic trout, that's blow his tiny mind.

  • as a producer midi's are a great way to transfer and see the writtin score of a song for production studios :)

  • If I may say, you really need to out out more. Your demo sounds like something from the mid 1990s. If you are dead set on living in the past, at least get yourself a professional sound card with a Emu Chip on it. At least this way your sound patches won't sound like Toy's R Us. lol

  • AWESOME!

  • jesus if thats cool, u honostly have never been outside you're house yet, get a life

  • What the hell man..

  • You're paid to do this right? that must be the reason.... ;p

  • Wow this duu is soo gay

  • twerp

  • This guy is so annoying.. WHY do people listen to this moron.. He things things are amazing when im like big deal

  • you know what, maybe you should take a closer look at things. i would say that calling ANYTHING technological NOT amazing in some way is just ignorance. It goes to show how little people even care to understand the machines and products they use every day. Just try to re-evaluate your view.

  • how fuckin retarded

  • He was up, ALL night. Playing with his TOOL.

  • You are a tool.

  • u look like MSgt Gerber.

  • where can we get it though?

  • fassy

  • lame sadly

  • This seems so Retro and lame the kinda thing someone who lives in his mothers basement would enjoy

  • pretty awful visulaization if you ask me. midi's uses are few (besides composing) and not worth downloading if they aren't original.

  • Midi is outdated two gens ago(with consoles) Just might as well record REAL music.

  • 100% incorrect. Midi is definitely NOT outdated! You just have no clue how it can be used. MP3 files can NOT make a piano play. I have a player piano that people pay me to cart around and create customized music for dinner parties, balls, etc. So yeah, Midi is definitely still in.

  • @pamiparocks

    I already now this.

Thanks for commenting on old comments anyways.

  • MIDI <3 That's what I do, and have for years. It's all over my channel after all (not trying to whore my channel or anything I swear). Love this a lot~

  • Look at yourself man, you're behaving like imbecile.

  • Did you hear "Birdhouse In Your Soul" start playing at 2:09?

  • Comment removed

  • I love the MIDI, the components working together, so cool!!!

  • Dont u use fruty loops and make ur own songs.?

  • Haha

    You got rolled!

  • what desk and chair is that?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA XD HAHA OMG!

you look so retarded when u "dance" to the music :p love it<3

  • ghey.... i though by visualization you were reffering to something useful to musicians... an inovative way to view and work with multiple midi tracks... this is visualization for children 6 and under. I'll pass.

  • after this video, MIDI sounds suuper wierd, lol

  • Garrhhh this hurts my ears

  • I agree 190% about sound quality.. but midi is incredibly useful for composing, notation, and controls. which is why it remains an industry standard.

  • Yeah, i use it for composing too, but its like the difference between an electric and acoustic drum set. Sure, if i wanted to make a beat for, er, rap...sure. Its not like anyone even listens to that for the MUSIC anyway. But beyond that, you want the tempo swells and time signature changes on the dime, the heptuplets syncompated with avant gaarde flourishes, it gets way too complicated on midi, you just have to go with human feeling. And nothing sounds as perfect as imperfection.

  • dude you just said so much stuff I don't understand that really should be common knowledge to me... lol! XD thatnks for the tidbits.. but yeah it's all about the live performance which is what I'm working for. midi though is excellent for collecting pieces that take up barely any space and are very easy to find. you can find just about any song ever made, not to mention video game music, some which sounds AWESOME on piano.

  • (garageband)

  • Runescape tones!!! RUN AWAY!!!!

  • boring

  • amazing....NOT!!

  • Dude, if you're actually mentally retarded -then I'd think you're doing a fine job.

  • whenever i try to open midijam i get the error sorry midijam has to close sorry for the inconveinence

  • go to control panel,....sound and audio devices, ...audio, ....midi music playback. Maybe you have some wrong settings there.

  • You know that midi has been around since 1985?

  • retarded lol

  • Thanks for introducing this program to me Chris! I love things like this and Audiosurf!!!

  • you are fucking lame

  • lol awesome saxophoning!

  • can u get the slayer-angel of death MIDI? iv heard it in 8-bit so i was wondering if this program would play it but i dont run windows im using xubuntu

  • who in their right mind would listen to midi this obsessively. i mean, why, when its easier to get hold of mp3s, flacs, wav. etc. that sound sooooooo much better. put simply, midi isn't meant for listening purposes.

but to be fair, this is an interesting program that may be fun for about 10 minutes. but i can't really see the point in it.

  • what kind of pisshead are you anyway?

  • i love midi too. I got the best midi composition in the whole of lower school. :P

  • dude... at night you listen to your favorite MIDI's.. haha

  • That's COOL!!!!

  • Wii Music has to use MIDI's.

  • and that´s it, what´s going on here..

    xD

  • I loved watching my midi come to life i might post videos recording my midis being played by this, can't tell ya how excited i am.

    thanks man

  • Would be cool that a visualizer thats somewhat like Guitair Hero,

where you can see a virtual band play each instrument in the track, and even see them playing the correct keys and on a keyboard, chords on a guitar, drums etc.....

It would be pretty simple to make to.

  • OOo i just noticed in another vid it does play the correct chords and stuff.

If guitar hero world tour doesnt have midi file support they should definitely include it the next time. Load one up, choose what instrument models you want ot use and bam,

    an instante cover version.

  • unfortunately not all midi files will work with midijam, some will crash the program a few seconds into the file. so, you will have to make sure all the files work before you do an allnight batch. probably not echo off either so you can diagnose any problems

  • great program. chris, if you want auto-list capability heres what i did, i wrote a batch file sorta like this (make a backup copy of rocky_1.mid first if you want to keep the original):

    @echo off

    del rocky_1.mid

    copy xena.mid rocky_1.mid

    midijam

    del rocky_1.mid

    copy take5.mid rocky_1.mid

    midijam

etc. the program always defaults to rocky_1 so you can just rename and copy ad diarrheum. you can even randomize your midi list in excel to write a random batch lol.

  • phuck midis. sound like cheap cell ringtones

  • its wrong! :p

  • MIDI file is just a file with instructions. The problem is you have shitty midi device in your system...

  • maybe

  • Amazing! I love MIDI too! Actually MIDI explained a lot of things to me when i studied how it worked. I always wondered how the N64 could control so many buttons and the analog joystick with just 3 cables 2 oif which were used for the power... that just leave 1 cable for signal, well, it works like MIDI works. Anywak back to MIDI songs, i got this USB cable to plug MIDI Keyboard to the PC and its simply amazing. :)

  • Who gives a FUCK!?

  • If you don't,

why did you click the video?

  • Weak

  • Guy, your midi plays even worse than YAMAHA SYXG100, OK? Horrible!

Unless your visualization player can read VSTi, or else, none sense.

  • I love women, you love MIDI, I have no problem with that ...

  • haha :) lol

  • just shut up

  • midi jam isnt working with the midis i downloaded

  • I like mp3 better because it is actually someone playing with real sound.

  • This is The Big Bang Theory: Real Life.

  • I just finished a class on midi, I like using digital performer and just creating songs from scratch. I prefer audio recording though thats just me. I love midi too I'm gonna check out some of your work.

    -Dani

  • MIDI RULES

  • it's not cool :p

  • Dude, I love it too! : D

  • It Dosen't Work In Vista :C

  • yes it does. I've got it.

  • who that hell uses midi today in a regular basis or in a computer, this guy is a midi nuts in a world of mp3s and technology advances.. MY LORD!!!

  • you are the biggest fucking retard on the planet.

    my jesus.

  • people use midi all the time, it is used to CONTROL events in um, PRO TOOLS, DIGITAL PERFORMER, LOGIC, REASON.....so, who uses MIDI? Anyone that owns a fucking computer to make music with!

  • now we can see how shit midi is instead of just hearing how bad it is, chesse to the max, midi is only useful for scavaging notes from songs.

  • you idiot, midi doesn't SOUND like anything. It is a protocol that is used to control events like velocity or note on/off of a sound. IT is the Shit wad samples that are used as sound sources that are to blame.

  • I was listening to an Emerson Lake and Palmer midi file, after listening to the real thing, and looking for an orchestral version of Karn Evil 9. That got me thinking about midi visualizations and the programs that convert whistling and humming into midi files and music notation.

Nice video Chris, the Midi Jam program looks very interesting.

I find it amusing that people knock midi when so much of what we listen to on mp3's etc. these days is played on midi instruments.

  • What a fool. MIDI is very complex. You don't know what you are talking about. Midi is just as complex as wave. Midi can be tweaked with out damaging the sound quality. Wave, on the other hand cannot. Midi notes are either from synths or sampled from real instruments or voices. Educate your self before you start talking. Damn, you even look annoying.

  • Start using soundfonts. Buy an old creative Live! or audigy card (with EMU10K1 soundprocessor), load it with soundfonts (I recommend Merlin and Airfont340) and have your MIDI-files really come alive. Sounds much better then Midijam and a hell of a lot better thant the standard Windows GM-mapping.

  • Midi songs suck major ass.

If you want real computer generated songs look up the commodore 64 SID songs...now that's amazing stuff from the early 80's.

  • "and the saxofone is.....saxofoning!"

Alright deserved a 5 star for this

  • If it weren't for midi files they never would have gotten to mp3s.

  • You Midi hater suck. There's no reason to hate them. There are possibly a lot of benefits to them. If you don't like them don't use them. Don't hate.

  • midi sucks

  • I absolutely love MIDI too provided it flows through a "physical" midi sequencer/synthesizer. Still not a fan of softsynths running on pc's (mac's). The "hardware" engineers who devised the specification decades back were dealing with a wire which had a narrow bandwidth so file size had to kept to a minimum. MIDI can be used to control many studio audio recorders & stage lighting systems.

  • what's the chat box @ the bottom?

  • No big deal.... you can pretty easily create that kind of application with sodtware like max/msp and jitter. Looks pretty cool, though.

And by the way, midi can be use to create much more complex music, using real orchestral samples for example.

  • who of you people think he loves midi?

  • haha his face is funy when the music stars :p hehe midi are awesome

  • Where do you get the software from?

  • :D i gotta put Theme songs from Duke Nukem to that

  • Oops, i mean Doom xD

  • Look at my vids...you can make a lot with MIDI if you've got the best Soundfont

  • Hahah he's kinda cute...He just looooves MIDI! hahah!

  • this guy's got more money than most of you will ever have, and he has a hot wife. so i don't think he cares that you call him a dork or a geek

  • .xm, .mod ftw!!

  • So does .s3m o/

  • love the end. :)

  • Go look up "animusic"

  • stupid face when the music is playing at 1:23

    (what the hell is saxaphoning?)

  • no doubt, if you liked this, then you'll love animusic

  • it blows you away huh....

  • I suggest Anvil Studio

  • jaki pedał

  • OMG you guys! Chris ROCKS! (in a geeky way). Us geeks like to be geeks so don't feel sorry! :) THNX anyway!

  • I've wanted to create my own songs on MIDI for well over 5 years. I did have the chance before, but I was too young to understand properly.

  • I feel bad for him. He's such a dork.

  • Does anyone know a good wav or mp3 to midi free converter? I can't find one, converting TO midi, not from it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • you cant, midi is pretty much a digital language, it sends messages to virtual instruments on your computer, i.e windows ships with its own synthsizer to play midi files, you can however put the midi files in a program and record the audio coming out of the program, but when it all comes down to it midi is not audio therefore cannot be simply converted to mp3 or wav formats. hope this is helpful.

  • What about a program to record midi files with (using just a microphone)? And thanks, that was helpful.

  • Direct MIDI to MP3 Converter works

  • I'm looking for something that converts MP3s to MIDIs--not MIDIs to MP3s.
