  • One thought -- You are right; the media ARE human - but you forgot that they have political opinions and agendas just like the rest of us. BOTH (neo-con)Republicans and Democrats would stand to lose with a Ron Paul victory. -- Thus Hannity and Colmes both do not want him to win. Ron Paul had no one in his corner to defend him.

  • Professor Levinson's course looks really interesting, and I greatly admire his analysis and opinions on this subject. Thanks for sharing this lecture!

  • You're very welcome!

  • secondly, calling ALL 9/11 truthers 'nutjobs' disinfranchises those seeking simply: Truth. it is no different then the media skewing the story instead of giving legitimate credance to the individual.

i understand there is now a coalition of professors and educators invoking experts in the field of chemistry and physics who discredit the official 9/11 commision report. will you insult your fellow educators for dissenting, as well?

  • I appreciate your attention to the mainstream media's failures. but, although there are many negative connotations with the word conspiracy, there does appear to be a conspiracy to keep the whole, objective truths about the war, the president and this election from the public, by the media-or let's say, there owners.

  • awesome class

  • pt 4. Highly intelligent individuals in the fields of engineering and aviation have refuted the official conspiracy theory. Perhaps they are wrong but I believe we could all benefit from a debate and new investigation. Truth is what matters most in a republic.

  • pt 3. 9/11 truthers range from the paranoid(ill admit) to the completely rational. It is rational to ask why our air force didn't intercept these planes, rational to question the suspicious circumstances of building 7, and rational to ask why their are reports of one of the alleged hijackers being alive and well in Saudi Arabia and rational to wonder how steal beams could melt at temperatures well below their melting points.

  • Furthermore, I take offense to your characterization of 9/11 truthers as nut jobs. Perhaps as an "intellect" you should argue your case against the theories put forth by these "truthers" rather than using callow insults. I am not one who believes that the government knocked down those buildings though I believe a case can be made and as I've studied a bit of history as I'm sure you have, it wouldn't be the first episode of false flag attacks by this regime or others around the world.

  • Why do you take offense? 9/11 Truthers are nutjobs. Please don't look up my personal info, you'll only strengthen my argument.

  • As usual, you haven't made an argument against the facts 9/11 truthers are presenting or the theories.

  • How about the footage of big chunks of building fall off?

  • That is not in question. We all saw what we saw. What we question is the science behind it. There are people much smarter than I and I'm willing to bet smarter than you too, experts in their fields, who have said that certain aspects of the official conspiracy theory are impossible. Did the government do it. Thats a leap i'm not willing to take, but i do have valid questions that should be addressed.

  • I'm sorry, but the media in large part has been outright malicious towards the Ron Paul campaign. From miscategorizing him as an isolationists to dismissing his supporters as kooks. I don't think it has anything to do with avoiding embarassment. This is, respectfully, an absurd rationale. Accurate unbiased reporting is the key not unfounded ad hominem attacks on him and his supporters.

  • Your right on the button about the reasons for the medias attitude towards Ron Paul. In the eyes of the media the internet is a tool that is often misused by the majority of people. It is still seen as a dark realm controlled by cyber crooks and perverts. But you and I both know the real power of the internet. So when the media is confronted by so much Ron Paul support through the internet they play it down as,"those wackos on the internet"

  • this man is a good teacher

  • You should read his book, The Soft Edge. I referenced him in an academic essay. I had no idea he was on YouTube.

  • What do you think about the most recent Republican debate? I noticed that when they did lightening round questions at the end they asked everyone different questions, and then asked Ron the same question they were about to ask everyone else about supporting the country. He received so little spotlight, it bothers my how blatantly they marginalize him.

  • Ever heard of Talking Points? Mr. Prof

Why do all these host USE THE SAME WORDS on the same day on each of their shows, they chant mantras for the audience.

And you don't think its co-ordinated? If I was your student I would look at getting my money back...

  • No, I never heard of talking points ... thanks for the tip... :)

You don't agree with my conclusion that there is no conspiracy, so, if you were my student, you'd like your money back? :) If you were my student, I'd certainly recommend to the Bursar that you got a refund...

Though, when you disagree with someone, I've always found the best policy is to present evidence, not walk out ...

  • Thanks for considering my point.

You should check out "Out Foxed", although in your profession and the fact that you seem to be aware of even the finer details of what's going on, I can't believe you haven't.

Google video "Out Foxed", and while your at it you would benefit from reviewing the work of Steven E. Jones on the collapse on 911. Its logical and what it means is truly scary.

  • Yep, I do know about OutFoxed - it's a piece of propaganda in itself, even though it makes valid points (but it overstates its case). Bottom line: I think it's the brittleness of mass media, not a Fox conspiracy, that's causing this.

  • Even though I already knew all they material you presented, I found it informative. I cant help to think that there was something missing and it was a bit drawn out, although overall it was a good lecture and I rather go to that than any of my other lectures. I appreciate a professional documenting the misreporting. Thank you.

  • Thanks. There was indeed a lot missing - the class was only 50 minutes, and, as I indicated, I only I had time for a few examples.

It's a sad commentary, though, that my lecture covered just a sample, rather than the whole roster, of misreporting.

  • After watching The Money Masters (a life changing experience)most things now make sense. Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich of course are marginalized and Richardson should be next as he is now taking Ron Paul's stance of just bring them home.

  • Excellent lecture on media bias and the up coming importance of the Internet as a media outlet. Net neutrality may be a topic for future lectures. Especially when Net Neutrality in reality is FCC government censorship so that big media can regain control public opinion.

  • thanks, everyone - and good point, libertylover...

  • bbburton (cont): That's why I don't think the problem is a media conspiracy ... it's something worse ... it's the mainstream media blind and lashing out in their death throes...

  • bbburton (Pt 2): pretty much everyone knows that the mainstream media are controlled by a handful of huge corporations ... NBC, CBS, ABC-CNN, Fox ... and the New York Times, Gannett (USA Today), and the Wash Post ... that doesn't really explain why most of them have been misreporting Ron Paul ... indeed, as a staunch defender of the First Amendment, Ron Paul should be someone loved by the media ...

  • Thanks for the good comments, folks - I'll definitely be posting other videos in the months ahead ...

  • Great to hear! Thank you.

  • Awesome! Keep em coming!

  • good lecture paul. I look forward to your next one.

  • Brilliant!

  • I do believe there is an effort to undermine Ron Paul's candidacy. Big business and special interests do not want him elected.

  • Nice class Professor.

I look forward to seeing additional lectures throughout the semester.

  • You don't believe in conspiracy theories regarding the media and the press manipulating the information to favor some candidate or some other nefarious motive. You speak in terms of ABC, FOX, CNN, etc., without mentioning who owns these media outlets. Don't you think this information is important in any conversation about the media?

  • Everyone needs to see all five videos in this series. Bookmark these links and email them to anyone one you know that may still value Liberty.

  • Great lecture Professor. I saw all 5 videos. I wish I could have been in that classroom that day.

    Go Ron Paul!

  • The media today of course all reported the 5 million he raised.

The real reason they did not report on him was he had no money to spend with them. They want advertising dollars. Now that Ron Paul has money, they are nice to him.
