i just watched the movie and i loved it...it really has nothing to do with a torrid affair as much as it does being treated like shit by the bitter ex and dealing with the death of her daughter...losing a child is something no one can simply image going through..and if you have gone through it..you know its the hardest thing youll ever do in your entire life....

The little boy was Lisa Kudrows son in the movie, the baby WAS Natalie Portmans baby...so she isn't demanding "maternal respect" she deserves it. And if you are referring to her relationship with the boy, she wants just that... a relationship, and you hear lisa Kudrow say "that is not his family Jack, because she obviously gets the relationship she wanted and he draws her in his family.

How is this movie advocating cheating? Sometimes, attraction happens between two people and something just happens; yes, people get hurt but you can't choose who you love. This movie actually really hits home for me because my father left my mother for another woman who is now his wife--and has been my stepmother for almost 20 years. I have a fantastic relationship with her. This movie isn't about some dog man and his slutty mistress at all. It's about family and the hard choices we make.

i don't care what anyone says, cheating is wrong. i'm not a fan of a movie that says cheating is okay and the ex who was lied to by both the new girl and her "trusted" spouse is not suppose to be bitter. movies take out the reality of situations and people follow movies so yay for more divorces later on!

I've read Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, the novel by Ayelet Waldman. And it is actually quite okay.
Things like that happen in real life. Men cheat, homes are scattered and new lives are built.
I liked the ending. Made sense.

The little boy was Lisa Kudrows son in the movie, the baby WAS Natalie Portmans baby...so she isn't demanding "maternal respect" she deserves it. And if you are referring to her relationship with the boy, she wants just that... a relationship, and you hear lisa Kudrow say "that is not his family Jack, because she obviously gets the relationship she wanted and he draws her in his family.

It's called being human. Get over it people, it happens every day. Unfortunately, it's not easy to deal with but I'm sure this movie will help someone, possibly even make them feel better enough not to kill themselves over the grief of being traded in for a new 'model' or loosing their child. Bitterness is up to the individual, hollywood is not responsible for that.

How is this movie advocating cheating? Sometimes, attraction happens between two people and something just happens; yes, people get hurt but you can't choose who you love. This movie actually really hits home for me because my father left my mother for another woman who is now his wife--and has been my stepmother for almost 20 years. I have a fantastic relationship with her. This movie isn't about some dog man and his slutty mistress at all. It's about family and the hard choices we make.

It's ironic that home wreckers demand maternal respect yet have no connection to what that actually means. And always the dumped wife is protrayed as bad and bitter. Attraction happens and lives are destroyed. Interestingly, mistresses hate it when their turn comes to be betrayed.
