thats a bad design in my opinion. you barely have any grip on the knife when it pushes the blade out. then you have to reposition your hand before using it. its impractical as a survival knife or self defense weapon due to the time it takes to move your hand. i can pull a folding knife with no spring assist with a flick of the wrist twice as fast.
@darththork99 it sucks, and plus in most of canada any one handed assisted opener is illegal, any thing with a spring in it, or is gravity assisted, and also butterfly knives are illegal in canada it blows man big time
O i didnt know that, i was doing research into it, but i didnt go that far. Thanks for the info. While it can be amended and they could make them illegal, it is probably highly unlikely. They have more important things to worry about than spring assisted knives, and my question is that if a switchblade is illegal to own then why are companies allowed to sell them, its just confusing that i am allowed to buy it but cant own it WTF ????????
Well then that is some more of your ignorance occurring again because switchblades are not illegal, there are about 28 states where they are legal for people, all 50 states they are legal for military and law enforcement. The proper terms are restricted, they are not illegal they are restricted for people to carry them into public. Remember most laws are about carrying them into public not about owning them. Ignorance is the biggest problem you are having.
Tecnically this is not a switchblade knife, by definition a switch blade is a knife that opens with the press of a button. The knife requires you to manually start the blade which makes it a spring assisted knife. Spring assisted knives are a big grey area, and i think that in the future may be illegal but for now buy em while you can cuz they are great knives
Amendment (1447) to the FY 2010 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill H.R. 2892 was passed by the House of Representatives & approved by the U.S. Senate on October 20th, 2009
This Modified the 50-year Old Federal Switchblade Act Modernized to Protect Americans with Knives.
This Added a Fifth Clause to Define Assisted Opening Knives as 100% Legal
yo persoally what would be a great denfese knife cuz i walk at night and i carry a ken onion kershaw blur tanto kinfe and i need a knife that devastate on first strike like shock and gore factor up got any thing like that in spring asisted knifes i though switch blades were illlegal in florida
There are no restrictions on assisted knives only what the city and county states if there are any and those are about carrying in public, but I am not aware of anything in Florida because fully automatic knives are legal in Florida so assisted models are of no concern but to fully check simply call the local police and ask about the knife laws and remember they are about carrying into public places.
i have this knife and i love it, highly recommend it, but my only complaint is that the glass breaker is kinda hard to use because the pocket clip makes it uncomfortable, other than that, great knife, pocket clip is easy to put on and take off, blade is satisfying to open and sharp and sounds bad ass
Same thing they are both made by Taylor Cutlery and are the same material and just different blade styles that is all, so it really is a matter of preference.
I've only ever bought S&W knives so I can only give you a one-way opinion, but they gurantee high-quality knives that come sharp and offer a life-time warranty in case u drop it. Maybe schrade does the same thing but I don't know
For import restrictions. The government wants to ban imports not change the laws on knives in the US. There is some misunderstanding on these issues and I need to get a new video done about this.
The rumor around here is that the government wants to change the 1958 definition of what was considered a switchblade knife. Their goal is to ultimately get all spring assisted knives classified as switchblades also. But please correct if this rumor is flase.
Now me myself it really makes no difference simply because I've always prefered a fixed blade knife. I carry a boot knife that I had custom made for me 9 years ago with a 3 1/2" X 1/4" thick blade and it's a war horse. The way I see it any mechanical mechanism , even a $450.00 Microtech auto has a life span , but a good quality fixed blade knife if properly used and maintained will out live us both. Peace
Hey bro I have seen a smith and wesson otf knife that looks exactly like this schrade model. I believe your website sells them. Which one is better quality? The smith and wesson or the schrade? and these are legal in California right?
Same thing, Taylor Cutlery makes knives for both Schrade and Smith & Wesson, there is nothing at all that is different, same exact thing. Yes, Assisted Knives are legal in California under Penal Code 653 and Bill SB274
Still going on, I just posted the video about the 11 clones that I sold and how they were automatic and not manual and if Benchmade claims that the button lock folder with a look is fine to have but violates the 866 patent when made into an automatic then my clone was not a violation because using the same train of thought then it is an automatic and 30% different.
Yeah, I never really liked benchmade. They seriously overprice their shit to the max. For example their infidel model you know that otf knife costs $450.00! and from what I've heard it's a piece of crap. I don't think I will buy anymore benchmade products in the future. I'll switch to spyderco.
From what you here, just watch my video on it on how it is made and why it fails to work correctly and you'll see why the price has dropped from $450 to $250 since I posted the video.
Yeah it is very cheaply made fuck benchmade now. Hey I also saw your video on how the government wants to ban single handle open knives. Do you think they will really pull it off? I don't want my knives to be illegal.
Not to bad, it is a composite handle and remember all OTF models have some blade play to some degree because it sits inside a channel and that is how it is deployed. Overall it is a cool first for an assisted opening model being an OTF
I don't like it, so I'm bias already. I think it is a good idea but it's not a model that I'd use myself. I have no need for this model in day to day use and I wouldn't even suggest having one for a collection either, I'd go with the Bokermatic if you can find one, JB>
Exactly, you are a smart guy who only talks when they are informed well. Good job twitchymcsquirrels. Assisted Models are legal both in the UK and Canada but customs agents can be misinformed and prohibit the import deeming it as illegal but once you protest it and supply the law they will release the item because remember that laws are all about definition and can not be altered. They are also legal to sell in the US but some cities and counties can restrict things and local laws apply.
why thank you jb,when i was looking for a kershaw leek(spring assist) i had to go through a lot of by laws about knives, it took me about three days to figure out that they are not mentioned as being illegal so i know a bit about the legalitly of knives
Zytel constructed handle and Stainless Steel blade. First Assisted opening OTF model on the market. What else can you ask for with a legal version. No OTF model is up to par unless it is a Microtech or Desert Knife Works or a Dalton. You get what you pay for you want a Rolls then pay over the $300 to $700 then you have room to complain about features otherwise it really is pointless.

@xxthesilentshadowxx Newfoundland.

@darththork99 yes, but you would have to be in the big cities to get one, I went to target knives at Calgary to get an assisted opener.

Florida, switchblades are legal there. There might be some city and county nonsense but as far as state law they are legal.

how is the blade quality ? and what do you thank is better this or the AKC concord?
Hissatsu5 2 years ago
The Concord has an Aluminum handle where this has a Zytel handel, so that is a personal preference as to which one you like better.
Some say Zytel makes things feel cheap but remember it is supposedly indestructible.
The Concord is slimmer in size while the Assisted models are wider.
Concord is made in Italy and the Assisted models are made in Taiwan.
Both are quality made but different in many aspects and are personal preferences.
