Would triming a branch of the Satsuma tree and cutting bark off to then putting growth hormone on it will this work to get a branch started?Sorry if i sound confusing.
Hi, Thanks for the video. I have a potted Improved Meyers lemon that I accidently broke a major branch on one side so that the tree is asymetrical and heavy on one side. Can I graft so that I get a branch to grow in the opposite side or can I just encourage growth somehow. Maybe with a hormone?
do grafted buds take less time to produce fruit as apposed to starting from seed? im wondering if the bud retains um...age like other plants do when you clone them. some plants when cloned mature and produce fruit when alot faster because of the age of the mother plant
@crazyamazondude You sound as if you knew =) Where does one take the material for the process of grafting? Did I even understand it correctly, that you DO grow the seeds of the plant and then use material out of another grown plants stem to have the new one cultivated graftedly? [Was that last thing a word? ^^]
Why does one graft? It makes the plant able to...?!
@VerbalizedPhrases You take budwood from a mature tree that bears fruit, Then in summer when the buds are swollen is the right time for grafting!!!, Then you graft it on a seedling rootstock that you have grown !!! Tell me something do you want to wait 7-10 years for fruit or get fruit after 1 year's time ?.
The seedling is chosen for its attributes to growing well in soil type, climate of the area, the scion/bud is chosen for the variety, and proven quality of the fruit desired. seedling must be compatible, (usually same family) problem with seedlings is that fruit quality can vary greatly, also some fruits for example lemon, could take 7-9 years to produce fruit from seed, but from crafts you may get fruit a year or two and will be exactly like that of the mother tree you budded from.
Is this method going to work on 6 year old tree? And if so, should I do it in spring time?

Why cant you just let the seedling grow? Is the seedling a different plant?
