  • Darn you 22 dislikes! I dont understand why you be hatin'

  • One of my all-time favorite FIF songs. FIF was (and now IS, hooray) a unique Christian ska band that my three sons enjoyed; we had all their releases. My oldest son's wedding date happened to coincide with FIF's last appearance in our area in 2003, so his brothers and friends all jokingly threatened to ditch the wedding and go to the concert! @TheWookieWorks--> that's just the lead singer's style, a part of the band's style, which was very different for the time.

  • Who else saw Ben Carr at 1:48?

  • I really don't know much about this band, but my general feeling about this song is that the singer's voice was not properly utilized in the vocals. The entire time, it seemed on the edge of his range, and very stressed. I am not musically knowledge at all, but I do think that his voice might be better suited for higher notes. I enjoyed the lyrics very much, but the signing got in the way a bit, because of the stress portrayed in the voice. What do you think?

  • @TheWookieWorks I think people who know this band grew up with them, so you're unlikely to get an unbiased answer haha. I honestly think its just their style. His voice is as essential to their sound as the horn section. It's good clean Ska.

  • Hey guys, FIF announced that they are making a new album and a possible tour. They are raising money for it. Find out more information on where to donate on Five Iron Frenzy's website

  • awsome video, awsome song. praise him!

  • I always saw this song as a pretty chilled song but when I started listening to they lyrics, it shows God really does love us. Even if we think in our childish focused mindset, He still loves and our garbage of best of efforts

  • I love you Samantha i wish you would change your heart i see dandelions where everyone else sees weeds. I'd be everything you needed if you could see through your painful past. Every man you've known has let you down and i swear to God they are all fools for not seeing in you what i do.

  • Never knew the impact this song t would have on me as i got older but i went through some tough times and hard break ups, this song helps remind you that when all hope and love is lost someone still loves you. "She sees flowers in these weeds" seems like such a simple statement but if you've been there you know, The one girl i loved saw me this way despite my imperfections and i lost her, not a day goes by i dont miss her but im reminded God still loves me even though she is gone.

  • Love this song. This video is great too and well-animated, especially for a fan-made one! Good job!

  • If FIF had not been so damn religious I would be their biggest fan! Love the music, dont´t belive in fairytales.

  • @Hotislandoffshore Why would you base your views on the band off that?

  • @Roflmao0001

Because in some songs they are singing "jesus mmmm jeeeesus mmm sjeeeezuz" and I can´t listen to that without feeling slightly ill. Thats sad but I really like all the other songs so I just skip the Jesus songs.

  • @Hotislandoffshore Fair enough,

At least your not one of those douche bags that hate on a band because of that.

  • @Hotislandoffshore I'm an athiest as well, and I have to say, I agree but disagree. I'm of the opinion that if they make music I really like, they're a great band, period. One of the things I really like here is that many of their messages aren't specifically Christian. This song is the perfect example. It's about seeing beauty where others might miss it. It speaks to me because I do it all the time myself. With the exception of a couple lines about the lord, and it sums up my feelings exactly.

  • @Cryofdragon --> I'm glad you like the song "Dandelions", but it IS specifically Christian in content and lyrics. "Lord search my heart, create in me something clean..." paraphrase parts of Psalms 51 and 139. The lyrics talk about God's love for us and our response to Him as His children. FIF put out many songs that were not specifically Christian in content or lyrics, but this isn't one of them.

  • That was kind of random but I love it!

  • This song makes me chuckle

  • this song is horrible but the lyrics are amazing and have a warm touch to it :)

  • im not a christian but i like this song anyway

  • As an Atheist, It think anyone should be able to appreciate the beauty of the lyrics. I hate that putting the label of "Christian" limits how many people could enjoy this band.

  • @mainecolbs i know what you're saying, i have a friendthat is an atheist, and he loves ska music, he doesnt listen to this guys though cause they're christian. he's the one missing out though

  • @caossoa There's only a few of their songs that are a litle over bearing on the christ theme, but most of them are great.

  • @mainecolbs The musicianship is awesome, the lyrics are a bit preachy. If you can get past 'em, just plain awesome to jam out to.

  • I'd give your left nut for a reunion! Xp

  • One of my favorite fif songs. Now, one of my daughter's too. She's been running around singing it all afternoon.

  • @doomstation5555 if that's all you got out of it, your brain sucks

  • oh my gosh, you dont know how much that blessed me! There were a couple times I couldnt even sing along without getting choked up. They really made a difference in so many lives, counting mine! they really did!

  • Christian Ska? I like...I like a lot

  • Good Job at making the video

  • FIF = : D

  • Woo! I'm the 300th person to like this video. =)

  • Great video, props to the video creator.... true story, i was working security at inside out soul fest when it was in littleton nh, and i had a bad of doritoes in the back for this after hours shoe.... i look over and some of the band was eating my chips. i have a picture of it, i will have to find it.

  • good job on the video i sure miss FIF and all the good christian ska bands

  • The only ska I really know is Streetlight Manifesto (unintentional rhyme. kind of proud.) I don't enjoy the cursing though. Could someone point me toward similar artists (with the loud sound, preferably) that don't curse?

  • @isyouafish I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but I believe that the OC Supertones just may be the best band ever!

  • I have 5 sons ages....28, 27, 23, 10, and 5. and 1 daughter that's 8 all of them brought me those beautiful flowers. man you hit that whole "nail on the head" thing with that song....I'm going to email it to my sons.....they are all musicians, singers, God-Lovers, rappers, heavy metal-ers,....I asked them for some ska music and my 27 year oId gave me your band name and i checked youtube love you guys music....is this ska?

  • @gloryhousegt Oh yeah man, this is ska. Also you might want to check out Street light manifesto. If your a christian, they're music is very agnostic. They are very very good though. I think you'd like em.

  • this song gives me chills its so darn good

  • i was too young to see them live when they were awesome, I WANNA REUNION TOUR!!

  • is this an official video or did someone make this?

  • @muaddank I made it. It's just a fan video.

  • @malditoyoutubdeshit Sean Hannity has nothing to do with anything except Morons.

  • @malditoyoutubdeshit

As an Agnostic individual, I'd have to say you're wrong as well, my friend. Religion isn't at fault - extremism is. If mankind didn't fight over religion, they'd fight over something else. What the world needs is to be more open-minded, not more similar as far as ideals go.

  • Great song/video!

    God bless!

  • lol nooo way!! something clean and awsome on youtube!!! XD

  • i know how odd

  • No shame in "religious" connotation. No shame in pointing people to their creator. No shame in following Christ. Good solid music as well. This song is a great picture of my God (who is in a GOOD mood) seeking his kids!! Bring it on!!

  • i actually listen to other music..but this rocks :)

  • TOTALLY AGREED!!!!!

  • Roper you are a an amazing F*ing lyricist! lolz. hi reddit!

  • wow, impressive video. its well done. i always liked the song, the music, the text. i think FIF was/is one of the best christian ska bands around.

::cant express how much i absolutely love this song and this band ::

quoted as nothing more could be said :)

  • I'm not christian, but I like this band. I do prefer streetlight, but If I want some calm ska, FIF is the way to go!

  • I love this song, it's got an awesome point. The part where he gives the poor guy a bag of Doritos makes me giggle.

  • Favorite FIF song!

  • favorite song!

  • FIF is AH-mazing! anyone who says otherwise has no ears.

  • They also are in my top three favourites favourite

  • cant express how much i absolutely love this song and this band

  • man i love this band.

one of my top 3 favs....

  • Man! I miss this band. Listened to them all the time as a kid!

  • haha this is christian ska? did you ever hear of Streetlight Manifesto? there my favorite band and their like the oppisite they have alot of anti religious songs.

  • you should check out streetlight manifesto, definetly one of the best ska bands ever

  • u r a good man lol

  • i like this song.. these guys are a great band.. i wish i foundout about them earlier

  • this hits home every time I hear this song, I remember having this cd, and playing it, when I hadn,t back slidden so much, but I really love this song alot.

  • @boddingtons101 no matter how much you backslide, you can always come back. This song speaks to that. are lives are weeds that God sees as flowers.

  • Please read this comment. THIS is the true meaning of the song.-

When a boy brings dandelions to his mother, the mother keeps the dandelions as a gift, even though they are weeds and not flowers.

This means that god loves us even if we arent beautiful flowers, even if most of us are still weeds, a gift is a gift perfect or not. Whether you believe in the faith or not. God still loves everyone because nobody is perfect

  • @ehhno0 and more over, our offerings and service that we give to God are as lowly weeds, but He sees the love of our gifts as flowers, just as the mother sees the love in the lowly dandelion.

  • "you see flowers in these weeds"- i love that quote

  • christian or not....its really feel good music!!

  • CHRISTIAN SKA!!!! HECK YA!!!!......check out Yugoskavia!!!! we rock...kinda hahaha

  • Heh, Yougoskavia...I like it :)

  • I'm not a religious person at all, but I still freaking LOVE Five Iron Frenzy. :D

  • I find it slightly disturbing that I have to look to previous pages to see posts about the iniquity of man and love of God. It's one of my favorite praise songs ever written. Let the focus not be on the band, the art, or the style; but the intended focus- Jesus Christ!

  • Or maybe the purpose of a band like this, which is to present christianity in a way that doesn't sound like total crap. It's a way to bring Christ to people, not to refuse to let them enjoy good music.

  • If you want to make Christianity not look like total crap, live like Christ as He calls you to do. Like God, I'm not asking you to not enjoy good music, or anything that is good for that matter! The last verse of this song ends, "Lord, I give my heart to you!" The purpose of a band like FIF is to get people to do just this.

  • I don't mean it makes christianity sound like a BS religion, I mean that most Christian music is absolutely terrible music. What FIF does is take Christian music and make it match up musically with secular music which, 90% of the time, is better-sounding (for most people, that is, which is kind of the target demographic here). I think the post Sakura made is exactly why FIF is so great. They appeal to everyone, which is necessary to bring people to Christ.

  • On that note, the original reason I was offended is that you make it sound like non-Christians shouldn't enjoy this music, and they should. There is no reason people should be forced to like Christ because they like good music.,

  • i want blue eyes like those, oh wait, i do

  • fun, enjoyable, exciting, exuberant

  • GO FIVE IRON FRENZY!

I went to their farewell concert so sad!

  • Hippy? Well not in the traditional sense I guess. This is more of--Ska..I think. They try to touch a lot of issues while staying fun and up beat. Love these dudes, I used one of their songs in a music video I made in my channel.

As for Hippy Music, well a lot of Crosby Stills and Niel Young, but dude- It's not just about era. Music is so grand and beutiful no matter what generation made it. So long as love and care were put into the songs, then it's great stuff. Love all types of music peace.

  • i love how they went from ska to rock

  • Haha they were like a fusion of ska and punk.

  • I am rather impressed. It is a great vid that does justice to the band.

  • I l<3ve this vid! Awesome song! I wish FIF had not retired. Thank God for Christian bands that don't play hard metal!- Sorry if this insults someone but it's how I feel!

    ~Create in me something clean!~

  • doesnt offend me, after cornerstone good Lord the metal.

  • @00Angry00Kitten00 and thank God for the bands that do play the hard metal. someone has to reach out to the hard metal folks too.

  • @gluband Not everything has to do with God. As much as you might believe it, others do not.

    Ramen

  • @ChrisderKoenig I'm not sure exactly what point you are trying to make as it relates to my comment. I was talking about that there are some hard metal Christian bands out there, like Tourniquet for example. How that links to things that don't involve God, I don't understand where you were coming from.

  • Issa made me cry.

  • great job on the video- very sweet :)

  • I kinda like the actually song.

But the lyrics weren't for me. haha

  • Funky stuff. I like them even if they are virtually the total opposite of what i normally listen to like Streetlight Manifesto. its all ska and all good!

  • Unconditional love. It is simply amazing.

  • Is it Five Iron Frenzy who made this MOVIE?

  • No they created the song. I made the movie simply as a fan.

  • Holy crap. First time ever seeing this and it's freakishly like my own flash project, which is a music video of sorts to an a capella cover of this very song.

Great minds think alike? I dunno.

  • I had no idea they were a christian band until I heard that one where they say "the lord" a bunch of times

  • haha me neither, especially since they made a song called "My evil plan to save the world"

  • Amazing job Spam, I don't know how many times I've watched this now, in fact this was the first time I had heard this song. You did a spot on job Spam, mad props to you. Gud velsigne deg og bevare deg, la sitt ansikt lyse over deg og gi deg fred

  • Hail to one of the best songs ever made.

  • Why worry about what everyone else thinks Cabbage? If you aren't Christian, why are you even uncomfortable if you play something like FIF? An easy, "It's a good song, but I'm not a huge fan of the overt Christianity," would clear the air. Let's be honest, this isn't even the type of song you'd play around other people or at a party. I agree with everyone about the passion behind their music. Who cares where it derives from?

  • thanx dephr for clarifying my point. I appreceiate that =)

  • explodingcabbage, there is a reason why FIF are so passionate with their music... and its the exact reason you dislike them ;)

to me, this song shows a love so pure and great, it just makes me smile

  • I think it's because the concept of devoted love and childhood innocence encompass the love that Jesus shows towards us. Why can't people besides Christians write about this? I think it's because they haven't experienced the Love of God, or of other believers. I have heart felt apologies if you've been mislead or put off by Christians. I'm betting you wouldn't have been mislead or put off by Jesus. I hope you see what I'm getting at.

  • Dude, I won't say that you can not have your own opinion in things. But to hate something just because of its religion is wrong. I'm not christian, nor any else of the religions existing, I have my own religion. But still, even tho I do not like what people do for their religion, I do not hate them. I really do like FIF's songs, because they show people their own feelings and thoughts in things. And that's what I support, peoples dreams and hopes. Your reasons for disliking is ridiculous.

  • hey "ExplodingCabbage". Do u wish they weren't Christian so that u can still be in sin and not feel convicted listening to their lyrics?

  • Spare me your patronising judgements, Jon, you know they mean nothing to me.

  • Man, it wish so badly that these guys weren't Christian. The vocals, the imagery, the instrumentation... together they are beautiful and uplifting, and very unique.

And then the over-the-top Christian stuff comes in and I get all uncomfortable and can't bear to listen any more. :'( It's sad, because these guys were genuinely talented, unlike any other Christian band I've ever heard. But the whole 'Lord search my heart' crap is just sickening to me. Every New Day is cursed by this too.

  • so youre up for selling out you big wig ?

  • so because this band uses christianity as an example instead of being secular u cant like it? u r m afraid of what people like you are going to lead music to? because u r uncomfterable bands will change their lyrics to being generic. if u think people who believe in christianity are like the insane u obviously dont realise the worth of religion and dont understand that maybe just maybe it could be true. this band stands for its beiefs thats what really makes u uncomfterable not the religion

  • wow what a great song and video, I never knew five iron frenzy were a christian band, obvious when you hear the lyrics.

  • A great analogy of a son and mother... who else but a mother and God could think that dandelions are precious? After this song , me too.

  • wow awesome video!

  • "lord, serch my heart, create in me something clean"

  • i love it!!!!!!!!

  • wrong, it is awesome because of it's simplicity

  • Err...no father ? Thats your point in view of religion, they have many christian lyrics so to most of us, there is :]

  • Really now?

    Why don't you prove that?

Or better yet, keep your opinions to yourself

    There, everyone's happy =]

  • This is just a comment friend take it easy =) I've respect to your beliefs i just say something xD Have a good day =]

  • Haha. Don't worry I'm chill dude =] I just found that statement quite ignorant

  • Would you give flowers to your father? And besides they're using a mother's love for her child as an example of God's love for us.

  • HEY DUDE

    AMAZING DUDE with great video

    good work!

    5 stars **** and more

    God Bless U !
